Introduction -Purpose: Integrating Extensive and Intensive reading approaches through reading a novel, Dead Poets Society. -Rationale 1. Extensive reading helps students not only gain reading proficiency, but also improve the overall language competence by reading for pleasure outside of the class, while intensive reading develops reading skills by reading in the class. 2. The novel, Dead Poets Society, is a story about high school students who find their identities with the help of their teacher. Therefore, the story is relevant to the target leaners who are university students and provide topics to discuss. -Target learners: 15 university students, private institution, EFL context. -Proficiency : High advanced (ACTFL)
