In this paper the call admission control (CAC) procedure called the hybrid scheme is proposed to enhance the QoS (quality of services) of the attempted calls. In the initial stage of 3 rd generation wireless service networks, the major limitations may include the small service coverage area and the limited radio link capacity. Thus the QoS of multiple services is expected to be severely degraded if tentative traffic hot spots occur frequently. The blocking probability (QoS) of attempted calls may increase when relatively large number of users try to place multimedia calls in a hot spot area of the service networks. In this situation, the proposed hybrid scheme can mitigate the degradation of the QoS of various services by using the available radio channels of the neighboring cells. © 2004 IEEE.*
