Abstract
A hydrothermal redox reaction was developed in order to prepare multicomponent lithium transition metal oxide nanowires. Using the LiMn 0.5Ni0.5O2 powder as a precursor, large quantities of quaternary lithium nickel manganese oxide nanowires were synthesized. It was found that this method can be extended to other compositions with more than two transition metal components. Fine-tuning of the chemical composition and crystal structure of the nanowires is found to become possible by controlling reaction conditions such as oxidant concentration, reaction temperature, and reaction time.
