An approach to overcome the fundamental limitation of conventional membranes by the addition of microporous molecular-sieving materials to organic polymers was described. Composite materials exploiting the mass-transport properties of polymer matrices lead to membranes with enhanced gas separation properties. Highly selective organic molecular sieve composite membranes were prepared using molecular dispersions of three-dimensional network nanoporous transition-metal complexes. It was found that the amount of porous complex influenced the uniformity of the organic molecular sieve membrane.
