Abstract
A method of exfoliating layered Bi2Sr2CaCu 2O8+y from its organic-salt intercalates in a given solvent was reported. A means of electrophoretically achieving highly textured superconducting films and microfibers on Ag foil and wire as substrates using exfoiliated Bi-based superconducting colloids was also reported. Exfoliation of bisalkylpyridinium tetraiodomercurate intercalates was carried out by sonicating them at 50-60 °C for 48 h. The surface charge of the resulting Bi2212 nanosheets in acetone was found to be slightly positive, with a potential of 25 mV determined by a zeta potentiometer.
