지역사회 산책을 활용한 유아교통안전교육에 관한 실행연구

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 지역사회 산책을 통해 유아교통안전교육을 실행함으로써 유아 및 교사의 교통안전에 대한 지식을 증진시키고 이에 대한 인식 및 태도를 형성하고자 하는데 있다. 연구 목적에 따라 설정한 연구문제는 다음과 같다. 1. 만4세 학급 유아들의 지역사회 산책을 활용한 유아교통안전교육 방안은 무엇인가? 2. 만4세 학급 유아들의 지역사회 산책을 활용한 유아교통안전교육이 유아 및 교사에게 미치는 영향은 어떠한가? 본 연구의 대상은 서울시에 위치한 공립 병설 나무유치원 만4세 초록반 유아 22명이다. 연구자는 나무유치원에서 이루어지고 있는 유아교통안전교육에 대한 문제점을 인식하기 위해 유치원 교육과정 안전교육 부분 및 유치원 전반에 걸친 교육환경을 분석하였고, 이와 관련한 문헌연구를 지속적으로 실시하였다. 연구는 2016년 12월 20일부터 2017년 5월 30일까지 실시되었으며, 연구절차는 유아교통안전교육에 관한 문제점 인식 및 문헌 연구, 문제점 인식에 따른 해결방안 모색, 1차 실행방안 모색 및 실행, 1차 실행방안 평가 및 2차 실행방안 모색, 2차 실행방안 평가 및 최종 평가 순으로 이루어 졌다. 연구가 진행되는 동안 녹음, 사진촬영, 동영상녹화, 현장노트 작성, 유아의 활동결과물 등의 방법으로 자료를 수집하였으며 수집한 자료들은 분석하여 다음 번 산책활동에 반영될 수 있도록 하였다. 본 연구를 통해 얻은 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 지역사회 산책을 활용한 유아교통안전교육 방안을 알아보기 위해 다양한 산책활동을 계획하고 실시하였으며, 산책한 결과를 유치원의 다른 연령 유아들과 함께 공유하는 활동을 실행하였다. 1차 방안으로는 산책준비하기 활동 및 유치원 등·하원 길 산책활동을 실행하였다. 산책준비하기 활동에서는 시청각매체를 활용한 유아교통안전교육 및 유아들의 경험에 근거한 유아교통안전교육이 진행되었으며, 유치원 등·하원 길 산책활동에서는 유치원 정문 앞 횡단보도, 유치원 후문 쪽 주차장, 유치원 인근 사거리를 중심으로 산책활동을 실시하였다. 1차 실행평가를 통해 유아들의 교통경험을 고려하여 산책활동의 범위를 넓혀야 할 필요성을 느끼게 되었고, 산책을 통해 알게 된 것들을 유치원의 다른 연령에 공유할 필요성도 제기가 되어 이를 토대로 2차 방안을 계획하고 연구를 진행하였다. 2차 실행에서는 유아들이 실제로 거주하고 있는 생활공간인 유치원 인근지역 및 우리 동네 산책활동을 실시하였으며 UCC 홍보활동을 비롯해 다양한 활동을 통해 유치원의 다른 연령에게도 산책을 통해 알게 된 사실들을 공유하는 활동을 실행하였다. 둘째, 지역사회 산책을 활용한 유아교통안전교육 방안에 따른 유아의 반응을 살펴보면, 유아들은 본 연구를 통해 교통안전에 대한 실천적 지식을 증가시켰을 뿐만 아니라 교통안전에 대한 인식 증진 및 태도 향상을 나타내었다. 교사의 반응을 살펴본 결과 교사 또한 교통안전교육에 대한 기존의 인식을 개선하였으며 유아교통안전교육과 관련된 교수자료를 다양하게 활용할 수 있는 방안에 대해 모색하게 되었다. 본 연구에서는 지역사회 산책활동을 통해 유아들이 경험하는 우리 동네의 도로상황을 같이 살펴보며 유아들이 안전에 대한 지식을 증가시키고 인식 및 태도를 형성하였을 뿐만 아니라 유아와 교사 모두에게 긍정적인 효과가 나타났다. 본 연구가 현장의 교사들이 효과적인 유아교통안전교육방안을 마련하는데 도움이 되기를 기대한다.;The purpose of this study was to enhance young children's and their teachers' knowledge of traffic safety and to form the awareness of and attitudes toward it through the walking activities in the neighborhood. The research questions set for this purpose are as follows. 1. What are the traffic safety education programs for young children through the 4-year-old children's walking activities in the neighborhood? 2. What are the effects of the traffic safety education programs for young children through the 4-year-old children's walking activities in the neighborhood on the children and their teachers? The subjects of this study were 22 children aged 4 years in Classroom Chorok of the public kindergarten of Namu located in Seoul. The researcher analyzed the traffic safety education curriculum and the overall educational circumstances of the kindergarten to recognize the problems of its traffic safety education programs for young children and constantly reviewed the relevant literature. This study was carried out from December 20, 2016 through May 30, 2017. The research procedure followed the order of the recognition of the problems of the traffic safety education programs, the reviewing of the relevant literature, the exploration of the solutions to the problems, the first exploration of execution plan, the first evaluation of the execution plan, and the second exploration of the execution plan, the second evaluation of the execution plan, and the final evaluation. Data were collected with recording, photographing, video recording, field note-taking, analyzing the results of the young children's activities. The collected data were analyzed to be reflected in the next walking activities. The results of this study are as follows. First, various walking activities in the neighborhood were planned on and performed to explore the traffic safety education programs for young children, and the results of the walking activities were shared with the young children of other ages. As the first program, the walking preparation activities and the walking activities were performed on the street to and from the kindergarten. In the walking preparation activities, the traffic safety education programs for young children were carried out using audiovisual media and the young children's experiences The walking activities were performed in the crosswalk in front of the gate of the kindergarten, in the parking lot at the back door of the kindergarten, and in the crossroad near the kindergarten. Through the first evaluation of the execution plan, the need to widen the scope of the walking activities was raised in the consideration of the young children's traffic experiences. The need to share what was realized through the walking activities with the young children of other ages was also raised and was reflected in making and executing the second plan. In the second execution, the walking activities were performed around the kindergarten and in the neighborhood where the young children actually lived. In addition, through the UCC promotion activities, what the young children realized through the walking activities was shared with the young children of other ages. Second, as a result of the traffic safety education for young children using the walking activities in the neighborhood, the young children not only enhanced their practical knowledge of the traffic safety but also improve their awareness of and attitudes toward the traffic safety. The walking activities also improved the teachers' previous awareness of the traffic safety education and led them to seek for plans that can use various teaching materials related to the traffic safety education for young children. The walking activities in the neighborhood provided the young children with the opportunity to examine the road situations which the young children experience on a daily basis. As a result, the activities had a positive effect on both the young children and their teachers: in particular, the young children enhanced their knowledge of the traffic safety and formed the awareness of and attitudes toward it. It is hoped that the results of this study will help the teachers in the classrooms prepare effective traffic safety education programs for young children.
