반환문화재의 역사교육적 활용 방안 연구

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the history educational implications and applications of returned cultural properties and to explore history classes for high school students utilizing 'Oegyujanggak Uigwe’ as one of the returned cultural properties. The existing education of cultural properties has not taken advantage of the various educational values of cultural properties well. Although it is necessary to cultivate an attitude toward cultural properties, they have functioned only as a means of understanding history. In addition, public education in Korea has not reflected the global debate on the issue of returned cultural properties and the reality that Korea's returned cultural properties are used in a variety of fields. Based on such consciousness, this paper proposed a teaching method utilizing returned cultural properties in history education. First, the values of cultural properties as educational material as well as the current status and challenges of Korean cultural property education were described. In order to investigate the educational utilization of cultural properties, the history of the repatriation and return of cultural properties, efforts to preserve cultural properties, and the concepts of cultural nationalism and cultural internationalism were studied. Also, the 2009 revised national curriculum of Korea and textbooks for high school were analyzed. Moreover, the history of Uigwe, the royal protocols of the Joseon dynasty, the history of 'Oegyujanggak Uigwe', and the return of Oegyujanggak books were described in order to understand 'Oegyujanggak Uigwe' as a returned cultural property. Accordingly, learning objectives were set and a teaching-learning guide, activity papers, teaching materials were produced. This study is significant to seek the educational application plan of returned cultural properties which were rarely handled in history education before. Furthermore, by using ‘Oegyujanggak Uigwe’ it makes students themselves understand Uigwe and Joseon, explore the necessity and limitations of the return of cultural properties, and foster their attitude to participate in preservation of cultural properties, which attempted to overcome the restrictions of the existing education of cultural properties. ;본 연구는 반환문화재의 역사교육적 의의와 활용 방안을 고찰하고 반환문화재로서의 외규장각 의궤를 활용한 고등학생 대상 역사수업을 모색하고자 하였다. 기존 문화재교육은 문화재가 지닌 여러 교육적 가치를 잘 활용하고 있지 못하였다. 문화재를 대하는 태도를 기르는 것이 요구되고 있음에도 실제 교육현장에서 문화재는 역사 이해의 수단으로만 기능하고 있었다. 또한 문화재 반환 문제에 대해 전 세계적으로 논의가 전개되고 있고 한국으로 돌아온 문화재가 다양한 분야에서 활용되고 있는 현실을 학교교육은 반영하지 못하였다. 이러한 문제의식을 가지고 역사교육에서 반환문화재를 활용한 수업 방안을 제안하고자 한 것이다. 문화재의 교육적 소재로서의 가치, 한국 문화재교육의 현황과 과제를 살펴보았다. 반환문화재의 교육적 활용 방안을 고찰하기 위하여 문화재 약탈과 반환의 역사, 유네스코를 중심으로 한 문화재 보존을 위한 노력, 문화민족주의와 문화국제주의의 개념 등을 살펴보았다. 그리고 2009 개정 고등학교 한국사 교육과정과 교과서를 분석하였다. 또한 반환문화재로서의 외규장각 의궤를 이해하고자 조선왕조의궤, 외규장각 의궤의 역사, 외규장각도서 반환과 관련된 내용을 살펴보았다. 이를 바탕으로 학습목표를 설정하고 교수·학습 지도안과 활동지, 수업안을 제작하였다. 본 연구는 이전에 역사교육에서 거의 다루어지지 않았던 반환문화재의 교육적 활용 방안을 모색하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다. 또한 외규장각 의궤를 수업에 활용하여 의궤에 대해 이해하고 의궤를 통해 조선 사회를 이해하도록 했을 뿐 아니라, 학생 스스로 문화재 반환의 당위성과 한계를 탐구하고 문화재 보존에 적극적으로 참여하는 태도를 기르도록 하는 등 기존 문화재교육의 한계를 극복하고자 하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.
