한국어능력시험 읽기 영역 텍스트의 난이도 분석 연구

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 2014년 7월부터 개편되어 실시되는 한국어능력시험(TOPIK Ⅰ‧Ⅱ) 읽기 영역 텍스트를 연구 대상으로 하여 텍스트의 난이도를 알아보는 데 있다. 공인된 시험을 통한 한국어 사용 능력에 대한 평가는 학습자에게 자신의 한국어 능력에 대한 객관적인 정보를 제공하여 학습 동기를 고취시킬 수 있다. 또한 평가의 결과는 교수방법과 교육과정 개선을 위해 사용될 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구가 살펴보고자 하는 한국어능력시험의 읽기 영역 텍스트에 대한 난이도 분석은 향후 한국어 읽기 교육과 관련된 학습 방향을 제시하고 개선된 교육과정을 설계하는 데 활용할 수 있을 것이다. 본 연구는 TOPIK Ⅰ‧Ⅱ에서 초·중·고급에 따른 읽기 영역 텍스트의 난이도는 어떠한가를 연구 문제로 설정하였다. 그리고 TOPIKⅠ·Ⅱ에 출제된 읽기 영역 텍스트의 난이도 분석을 위해 텍스트 난이도와 관련된 선행연구를 살펴보고 한국어능력시험 읽기 영역의 구성과 읽기 텍스트의 유형에 대해 조사하였다. 선행연구를 통해 어떤 요인이 읽기 텍스트의 난이도에 영향을 미치는지 알아보고 이에 근거하여 문장 길이와 문장 구조를 텍스트 난이도 분석의 기준으로 삼았다. 이어서 선행연구에 제시된 텍스트 난이도 분석 방법을 한국어교육에 맞게 수정 및 보완하여 문장 길이를 구하는 방법과 문장 구조 분석 체계를 설정하였다. 그리고 문장 길이와 문장 구조를 중심으로 초·중·고급에 따른 읽기 영역 텍스트의 난이도는 어떠한지 살펴보았다. 이와 같은 연구 문제 분석을 바탕으로 본 연구가 갖는 의의는 학습의 능률성과 의사소통상의 효율성을 고려하는 외국어로서의 한국어 교육의 교육 목표에 부합하도록 문장 구조 분석 방법을 수정하여 문장 구조의 분석을 시도하였다는 점에서 찾을 수 있다.;A purpose of this research is to study and analyze the level of difficulty of reading passages in the Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK Ⅰ‧Ⅱ), which has been restructured since July 2014. Proper evaluation of the ability to use Korean language through an authorized test provides objective information to learners to encourage learning motivation. Also, the results of the evaluation can be used to improve teaching methods and curriculum. Therefore, in this study, the analysis of the level of difficulty of the reading passages in TOPIK suggests learning directions related to Korean reading education and can be used to design an improved curriculum in the future. This study is to investigate the level of difficulty of the reading passages in TOPIK I‧Ⅱ according to beginner, intermediate, and advanced level. And, this study looked at previous studies related to text difficulty to analyze the level of difficulty of the reading texts in TOPIK I·Ⅱ, and examined the types of the texts and the composition of the reading area in the Korean Language Proficiency Test. Through the previous studies, this research looked at what kinds of factors affect the difficulty of the reading texts and based on those factors, this study used sentence length and sentence structure as the criterion of text difficulty analysis. Subsequently, this study revised and supplemented the method of analyzing the text difficulty presented in the previous studies, and set up the method to find sentence length and sentence structure analysis system. And, this study examined the level of difficulty of the reading passages according to the beginner, intermediate, and advanced level, focusing on sentence length and sentence structure. Based on the analysis of this research, the significance of this study lies in its attempt to analyze the sentence structure by modifying the method of sentence structure analysis in order to meet the educational goal of Korean language as a foreign language considering its efficiency of learning and effectiveness of communication.
