- Abstract
- “An organized whole that is perceived as more than the sum of its parts.” As gestaltism perceives the world, language education experienced a major paradigm shift from decoding discrete elements of language to acquiring language as a whole. A holistic approach emphasizes the major function of language as a means of creating meaning and communication through texts and discourse (Rigg, 1991). “Successful language learning occurs when students are presented with target language material in a meaningful, contextualized form with the primary focus on acquiring information” (Richards et al., 2014). In other words, natural exposure to target language through real life content is a crucial key to language acquisition.
