Abelian Higgs mechanism in the Schrödinger picture

Abstract

We have studied symmetry-breaking phenomena in scalar electrodynamics by evaluating the effective potential at one-loop order in the Schrödinger picture. Contributions to the effective potential by the Higgs particle and the transverse and longitudinal components of a photon are compared with other previous works, and they are found to be consistent. © 1990 The American Physical Society.
