The effect of solvent on the alpha-effect: the MeCN-H2O solvent system

Abstract

The increasing alpha-effect observed in MeCN-H2O solvent mixtures, which contrasts with the previously found bell-shaped dependence on solvent composition in the DMSO-H2O system, is attributed to the differential solvent effect on basicities of the alpha- and normal nucleophiles in the former case.
