현대음악 감상 수업 지도 방안 연구

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 2009개정 음악과 교육과정에 따라 중학생을 대상으로 한 현대음악 감상 수업 교수·학습 지도안과 수업자료를 개발하는 것이다. 2009개정 교육과정은 창의 인재 육성을 목표로 하고 있다. 현대음악은 다양한 표현양식과 실험적인 시도로 그 자체의 고유한 창의성을 가지고 있기 때문에 학습자의 창의성 계발을 위한 음악 수업의 소재로써 가치가 있다. 그러나 우리나라 교육 현장에서는 현대음악 교육이 활발하게 이루어지고 있지 않으며 현대음악 수업에 필요한 교수·학습 자료 역시 미비한 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 현대음악 수업을 계획하는 교사에게 하나의 지침이 되고, 현대음악에 대한 학습자의 이해와 흥미를 증진 시킬 수 있는 현대음악 감상 수업 교수·학습 지도안과 수업자료를 개발하고자 하였다. 본 연구의 절차는 다음과 같다. 먼저 문헌 연구를 통해 본 연구의 이론적 배경이 되는 2009개정 중학교 음악과 교육과정의 방향 및 내용에 대해 알아보고 현대음악 교육의 필요성 및 현대음악 감상 학습 방법에 대해 조사하였다. 다음으로 개발된 교수·학습 자료를 실제 수업에 적용하고 학습자의 수업 만족도를 조사하기 위해서 서울시 서초구 소재의 S여중 2학년 9개 학급 351명을 연구 참여자로 섭외하였다. 수업을 계획하기에 앞서 제재곡 선정을 위해 2009개정 중학교 음악 교과서 17종 중 S여중에서 교재로 사용하고 있는 (주)박영사 중학교 음악 교과서의 현대음악 부분을 분석하였다. (주)박영사 음악 교과서의 현대음악 제재곡은 서양 음악사와 연계하여‘인상주의와 20세기 음악’이라는 소단원에 수록되어 있었으며, 그 비중이 낭만시대 음악 다음으로 높았다. 또한 현대음악 제재곡별 학습 내용은 주로 감상영역을 중심으로 구성되어있음을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구에서는 (주)박영사 중학교 음악 교과서에 수록된 현대음악 작품 중 에드가 바레즈(Edgard Varese) 대표적인 타악기 앙상블 작품으로 다양한 타악기를 사용한 현대음악의 음향을 감상할 수 있는 <Ionisation>을 제재곡으로 선정하여 교수·학습 지도안과 수업 자료를 개발 하였다. 본 지도안은 2차시로 구성 되어있으며 민경훈(2005)이‘음악교사를 위한 현대음악 지도방법 연구’에서 리히터(Christoph Richter)의 감상 학습 방법을 기초로 하여 제시한 현대음악 학습의 단계별 지도방법을 수업모형으로 사용하였다. 1차시는 학습자로 하여금 낯선 현대음악 음향에 적응하는 것과 음악 외적인 요소 즉 작곡가와 작품의 배경, 악기편성 등에 관한 이해에 중점을 두었으며 2차시는 1차시 학습내용을 바탕으로 다양한 감상 학습 활동을 할 수 있도록 계획하였다. 본 연구의 결과로 개발된 지도안 및 수업자료는 2차례에 걸쳐 전문가 집단에게 검증을 받았다. 먼저 실제 수업에 적용하기 전, 5명으로 구성된 음악 교육 관련 전문가 집단에게 사전 검증을 받았다. 사전 검증과 수업 적용 후에 수정·보완 된 지도안 및 수업자료를 토대로 현직교사 5명을 대상으로 한 설문조사를 통해 지도안의 내용 타당도와 현장 적용 가능성을 조사하였다. 설문지는 교사의 근무지와 재직 경력을 묻는 사전 질문 2문항과 지도안의 내용 타당도와 현장적용 가능성에 관한 10개의 선택형 문항, 지도안의 단점 및 장점과 제언 사항에 관한 2개의 서술형 문항으로 구성하였으며 선택형 문항 평가에는 리커트 척도(Likert Scale)를 적용 하였다. 수업 후기를 분석한 결과 학생들은 다양한 수업자료와 단계적인 감상 활동이 제재곡을 이해하는데 도움이 되었다고 답변했으며, 수업 후에 대부분의 학생들의 현대음악에 대한 흥미도가 높아졌음을 확인할 수 있었다. 지도안의 내용 타당도와 현장 적용 가능성 검증 결과 모든 문항의 평균 점수는 5점 만점 중 4.2점 이상으로 집계되었으며, 지도안에 대한 현직 교사들의 평가가 매우 긍정적인 것으로 조사되었다. 따라서 본 연구의 결과로 개발된 현대음악 감상 수업 교수·학습 지도안 및 수업자료는 학교 현장에서 유용하게 사용할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다. 이 연구를 바탕으로 다양한 현대음악 작품을 제재곡으로 한 현대음악 감상 수업 지도 방안 연구가 활발히 이루어지기를 기대한다.;The purpose of this paper is to develop teaching·learning guidelines and course materials for contemporary music appreciation classes aimed for middle school students based on the curriculum of music department revised in 2009. The curriculum of music department revised in 2009 aims to cultivate creative talents. Because contemporary music contains its own creativity with its diverse form of expression and experimental attempt, it is valuable as a material for music classes which aim to develop creativity. Educational environment of Korea, however, does not offer active modern music education nor the necessary teaching·learning guideline and course material for contemporary music classes. Therefore, the goal of this research lies in developing teaching·learning guideline and course material for contemporary music appreciation classes which will function as a guide for the teachers to plan contemporary music classes while increasing the understanding and interest of learners. The procedure of this research is as follows. Firstly, through conducting literature review, I studied the trend and contents regarding the curriculum of music department for middle school revised in 2009 that serves as theoretical background. Then, I applied the developed teaching·learning guideline to actual classes, and selected 351 subjects from 9 classes of 2nd grade students from S girls' middle school located in Seo-cho gu, Seoul, to survey the learners' satisfaction on classes. Prior to lesson planning, I analyzed a section for modern musical pieces from 17 kinds of middle school music textbooks revised in 2009, published by PAKYOUNGSA that were used in S girls' middle school as major course material to select a musical piece. In the music textbook published by PAKYOUNGSA, modern musical pieces were categorized under the sub-chapter titled 'Impressionism and 20th Century Music' in relation to Western music history, and it holds the second rank in its quantity of materials after the music of Romantic Age. Furthermore, the learning contents for each modern musical piece displayed their focus on the appreciation activities. Among many modern musical pieces that were included in the middle school music textbook published by PAKYOUNGSA, this research chose <Ionisation> by Edgard Varese which is a representative percussion ensemble suitable for appreciation of the sound of modern music that utilizes various percussion instruments, and developed teaching·learning guideline and course material. The teaching guideline is divided into two parts, and it used phased teaching method for modern music learning which was suggested by Gyeong-hoon Min(2005) in 'A Study on the Teaching Method of Modern Music for Music Teachers' based on the appreciation learning method by Christoph Richter as the model for instruction. The first lesson focused on adapting the learner to unfamiliar sounds of modern music and understanding the external factors such as the background knowledge regarding the composer, musical piece, and orchestration. The second lesson was planned with various appreciation learning activities based on the contents learned from the first lesson. Teaching guideline and course materials developed based on this research went through two inspections done by an expert group. Firstly, preliminary inspection was conducted by an expert group consisting of 5 experts in musical education field before the application in actual classes. Based on the modified and supplemented version of teaching guideline and course materials after preliminary and post inspection, we examined content validity and applicability on school site through surveying 5 teachers who were currently teaching. The questionnaire consists of 2 questions asking their place of work and teaching experience, 10 multiple-choice questions regarding the content validity and applicability on school site of teaching plan, and 2 descriptive questions on suggestions for shortcomings and merits of the teaching plan. Likert Scale was used for the evaluation of multiple-choice questions. The analysis on the comments demonstrated that students responded positively with regards to the effects of various course materials and gradual appreciation activities in understanding the musical piece for the class. It also showed increased interest from most of the students on contemporary music. After verifying the content validity of teaching guideline and the applicability on school site, all the questions' average score displayed above 4.2 out of full score of 5. This shows that those who are currently teaching found the teaching guideline highly useful. Therefore, the teaching·learning guideline and course material for contemporary music appreciation classes developed throughout this research can be used effectively at the school site. We expect that further research be actively conducted on creating teaching guideline for contemporary music appreciation classes with various contemporary music pieces as their theme.
