이황의 한시를 통한 가치 교육 연구

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 이황의 한시를 통해 청소년들에게 타인과의 소통과 관계에서 중요한 가치인 대인적 가치를 인식할 수 있는 가치 교육 연구를 모색해보는 데 있다. 대인적 가치란 타인과의 관계에서 요구되는 것으로, 다른 사람과의 관계 유지와 소통을 위해 필요한 가치이다. 현재의 청소년들은 사람 간의 소통이나 관계의 대인(對人)적 가치보다는 물질적 측면의 대물(對物)적 가치를 더 중요하게 여기고 있어 정신적 가치와 소통과 관계에 따른 대인적 가치가 붕괴되고 있는 실정을 본고에서는 연구의 필요성으로 인식하였다. 이에 조선전기 문인인 퇴계 이황이 그와 교유하던 스승, 동료, 제자, 가족에게 쓴 한시를 연구 대상으로 삼아 각 대상과의 관계에서 드러난 가치를 제시하고, 교육적 내용 제시에까지 나아가는 가치론적 접근을 하고자 했다. 한문학, 특히 한시는 인간 간의 관계를 매개하는 문화적 수단이기에 관계 중심의 문학이었으며, 문인들 간에 소통하는 갈래였기 때문에 ‘소통’과 ‘관계’와 밀접한 관련성이 있어 대상 갈래로 선정하였다. 한편 퇴계 이황은 조선전기의 문인으로 그가 추구한 유가적 사상과 함께 중등학습자에게 시조 <도산십이곡>으로 잘 알려진 작가이지만, 그의 한시는 교육적 측면에서 거의 다루어지지 않고 있기에 이황을 대상 작가로 선정하였다. 본고에서는 한시 중 특히 이황이 타인에게 주었던 시가 관계 유지와 소통에 필요한 가치인 대인적 가치와 관련된다고 보았다. 이에 실제로 이황이 교유하던 대상을 크게 ‘사제’, ‘친구, 선·후배’, ‘가족’의 세 층위로 나누어, 그들에게 주었던 한시 속에 내재된 가치를 살펴보았다. Ⅰ장에서는 먼저 문학 교육에서‘가치’와 ‘가치 교육’에 관한 선행 연구를 고전문학과 현대문학으로 나누어 살펴보았다. 고전문학교육에서는 설화, 시조, 고전소설을 통해서, 현대문학교육에서는 동화, 현대소설을 통해 작품에 내재된 가치를 내면화 혹은 탐구하여 그것을 개인 또는 삶과 연관 지을 수 있도록 하는 교육방법과 활동을 많이 다루었으나 주로 가치 교육의 제재로 서사적 갈래가 연구되었으며, 상황이나 등장인물의 갈등을 주로 다룬 작품에 한정되어 있었던 점은 한계로 지적된다. 한편 이황의 ‘한시’와 한시를 통한 가치 교육에 관한 선행연구를 검토한 바, 이황의 한시는 그의 도학자적 관점에 주목하여 영물, 특히 매화와의 관계를 중점으로 논의된 연구가 많았으나, 한시를 통한 가치 교육은 거의 다루어지지 않고 있음을 발견하였다. Ⅱ장에서는 가치의 이론에 대한 검토를 통해 가치가 무엇이며 가치를 교육한다는 것은 어떤 의미인지 논의해보고, 가치가 지닌 성격과 가치 교육에 관한 정의를 명확히 하고자 했다. 또 문학 교육과 ‘가치’와의 관계를 알아보기 위해 문학 교육에서 ‘가치’의 의미와 ‘가치 교육’을 바라보는 관점을 살펴보고, 문학 교육을 통한 가치의 형성과 작용은 어떻게 이루어지는지에 대한 논의를 검토하였다. 다음으로 이황의 한시가 본고에서 다루고자 하는 가치와 어떠한 상관성이 있는지에 대해 논의해보았다. Ⅲ장에서는 대인적 가치에 따른 한시를 분석하였다. 본고에서는 이황이 교유하던 대상을 사제, 친구, 선·후배, 가족의 세 층위에서 그 양상을 더 세분하여, 그들에게 주었던 시 속에 드러난 가치를 살펴보았다. 이를 통해 학습자에게 다양한 이황의 한시 작품을 접할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 대인적 가치에 주목함에 따라 이황의 도학자적 측면과 더불어 인간 상호간의 대인적 가치를 경험할 수 있도록 하였다. Ⅳ장에서는 한시의 가치론적 접근을 토대로 교육적 내용 제시와 그 의의를 논의해보았다. 이 장에서는 이황의 한시에서 살핀 가치들이 현재의 가치와 어떻게 같고 다른지를 학습자의 관점에서 재조명하여 가치 교육의 기초를 마련해보았으며, 학습자들이 대인 관계에서 요구되는 가치들을 어떻게 습득하고 경험할 수 있을지에 대한 교육 내용을 제시해보았다. 마지막으로 한시를 통한 가치 교육의 의의를 밝혔다. 본고의 연구는 조선시대 도학자의 시를 도학만이 아닌 상위의 ‘가치’ 개념으로 접근하였다. 이에 수신(修身)이 아닌 대인적 가치에 주목하여 이황이 교유했던 인간관계를 세분하여 살폈으며, 그들에게 주었던 한시를 통해 구체적 가치를 검토 · 분석하였다는 점에 의의를 지닌다. 또한 한시를 통해 청소년들에게 개인보다는 타인과의 소통과 관계의 중요성을 인식 할 수 있는 가치를 함양할 수 있는 동기가 되는 동시에 국어 교육에서의 한시 활용 방안 모색에도 기여할 수 있다는 점에 의의를 지닐 수 있다.; This study is interpersonal relationship improvement by hansi (Sino-Korean poetry) education which can recognize an important value for growing generation’s in communication and relations with others, through the Lee Hwang’s hansi. Interpersonal value is inquired in relations with others as a value which is necessary for maintaining relations with other people and communicating with them. Current youths consider ‘inrem’ value of physical aspects more importantly than ‘interpersonal’ value of communication or relations among people, so this thesis recognized actual situation that interpersonal value is broken by spiritual value, communication and relations as a necessity of research. Therefore, this research intends to take hansi Toegye Lee Hwang, a writer of the early days of Joseon Dynasty wrote to teacher, friends, disciples, and family as a subject of research, suggest values shown in relations among the subjects and conduct an axiological approach to suggestion of educational contents. Sino-Korean poetry, especially, hansi was a kind of communication media of interpersonal relationship, so it was a relation-oriented literature and measure of communication among the writers. Therefore, there are close relations between ‘communication’ and ‘relations’, so it was selected as a category of subjects. On the other hand, Lee Hwang is a familiar poet to modern learner because of <12 sijoes of Dosan> and a great educator. But, his hansi is nearly treated from an educational angle, so Lee Hwang was selected as a subjective writer. This thesis considered that poem Lee Hwang gave to others among the hansi is related to interpersonal value, an essential value for maintaining relations and communicating. Therefore, This thesis categorized his interpersonal hansi into 3 groups, between ‘teacher & disciples’, ‘friend or seniors & juniors’ and ‘family’. Through these texts, we could find the several interpersonal values. In Ⅰ chapter, precedent studies on 'value' and 'value education' in literature education were firstly examined by dividing into ancient literature and modern literature. Educational method or activity which internalizes or explores values of the work and relates them with individual or life through the tale, sijo and ancient novel in education of ancient literature and children's story and modern novel in education of modern literature. But, descriptive classification was mainly studied as a material of value education and its limitation is instructed to be limited by works which treat conflicts of situation or characters mainly. On the other hand, 'hansi' of Lee Hwang and precedent studies on value education through the hansi were examined. As a result, hansi of Lee Hwang focused on his viewpoint of moralist and treated relations with mystical creatures, especially, Japanese apricot flower, intensively and value education by hansi was nearly treated. In chapter Ⅱ, meanings of value and value education were discussed by examining the theory of value and personality of value and definition of value education were clarified. In addition, to examine relations between literature education and 'value', meaning of 'value' and viewpoint toward 'value education' were examined in literature education and discussion about value's formation and action by literature education was suggested. Next, this researcher discussed about the relations between Lee Hwang's hansi and values this thesis intends to treat. In chapter Ⅲ, hansi by interpersonal value was analyzed. This thesis categorized his interpersonal hansi into 3 groups, between ‘teacher & disciples’, ‘friend or seniors & juniors’ and ‘family’. The aspects were divided into smaller categories, so values of poem he gave to them were examined. It let learners experience Lee Hwang's moralistic aspects and interpersonal values while they can read various hansi of Lee Hwang and focus on interpersonal values. In chapter Ⅳ, educational contents were suggested and the significances were discussed based on the axiological approach of hansi. In this chapter, same things and differences between values of Lee Hwang's hansi and current values were examined from an angle of learners and the foundation of value education was prepared. And, educational contents of how leaners can acquire and experience values requested in interpersonal relations, were suggested. Finally, significances of value education by hansi were investigated. The study of this thesis approached a poem of moralist in Joseon Dynasty with 'value' concept of upper class, not ethics. Therefore, it examined interpersonal value intensively, not moral training, and segmented human relations Lee Hwang associated. The significance is that concrete values were examined and analyzed by the hansi he gave to them. Also, hansi education is useful to improve interpersonal value and gives opportunities to explain several relational emotions rather than individuals to modern learners and it is meaningful to study deeply Lee Hwang’s social intercourse hansi.
