박물관 현장학습을 통한 효율적인 역사교육 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 역사교육의 궁극적 목적이라고 할 수 있는 역사적 사고력을 향상시킬 수 있는 방안으로 국립중앙박물관에서 유물을 탐사, 관찰하며 수업에 연계할 수 있는 교육활동을 목적으로 한다. 중학교 국사 수업에서 주교재로 사용되는 교과서의 한계점을 고려하여 박물관 활용을 위한 박물관 활동지(worksheet)로 학생들의 역사교육의 효과를 연구하였다. 활동지를 활용한 박물관 역사교육의 과정에서 자기주도적인 학습과 협동적인 모듬과제 해결을 통해 심층적인 역사적 사고를 할 수 있도록 수업을 연구하고자 하였다. 본 연구는 서울시에 위치하고 있는 S 중학교에 재학 중인 6개 학급 남, 여학생 192명을 대상으로 설문조사를 하여 최종으로 분석하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 12.0 프로그램을 사용하여 연구문제에 따라 각 문항별로 일원배치 분산분석을 실시(신뢰도 95%)하였으며 문항간의 조합으로 집단과의 차이를 알아보기 위해 일원배치 분산분석을 실시하여 교실수업집단과 박물관활동지활용수업집단에 대한 역사교육의 효과를 검증해보았다. 본 연구의 분석결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, S중학교 2학년 6개 학급을 대상(192명)으로 현재 배우고 있는 국사과목에 대한 관심과 흥미도에 대한 설문 분석결과, 국사과목에 대한 관심과 흥미도는 교실수업집단과 박물관활동지활용수업 집단 간에 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 같은 수준의 국사과목을 생각하고 있는 상황에서의 교실수업과 박물관 활동지 활용의 현장수업의 효과를 알아 보기위한 최적의 상태였다. 둘째, 역사이해를 위한 현장학습의 필요성과 효과를 진단하는 설문에서는 교실수업집단과 박물관활동지활용수업 집단 간에 역사교육의 효과에 유의미한 차이를 보였으며, 역사교육에서 역사 이해를 위한 박물관 활동지 활용 현장학습의 효과가 있음을 증명할 수 있었다. 또한 역사학습에 있어서 역사사실을 이해하기 위한 목적의 현장학습의 필요성을 묻는 설문에 대해서는, 박물관에 다녀온 집단의 경우 박물관 활용 수업 경험이 있는 집단이 현장학습의 필요성을 더 공감하고 있는 것을 볼 수 있었다.;The purpose of this study is to develop an educational activity which can be applied at school through exploring and observing the relics in the National Museum of Korea for improving historical thinking skills that students should achieve ultimately in history education. To overcome the limitation of the existing Korean history textbook for secondary school students, this study was aimed at effectiveness of museum worksheets which could be used in cooperative task-solving and self-driven learning process for in-depth historical thinking. A sample of 192 boys and girls, 8th graders attending 'S' middle school in Seoul, participated in the questionnaire for this study and the results were analyzed by SPSS 12.0. One-way ANOVA(analysis of variance) was used at the 95% confidence level to verify the differences in the effectiveness of the classroom group and museum worksheet group. The following are the results of the investigation. First, little difference was observed between the classroom group and museum worksheet group in their interest and concern about learning Korean history. This provided the most favorable condition to compare and analyze the achievements of the two different groups. Second, the two groups showed a meaningful difference in necessity and effectiveness of the field trip and worksheet. The museum worksheet group was more approving the field class is necessary and effective to study history better. Third, museum worksheet group responded that the museum worksheets were more helpful to understand the historical contents, materials, and relics in the textbook when they took a field trip to the museum in line with the curriculum process. Fourth, the museum worksheet group was found to be far more aware of the value of our historical and cultural heritage after the field trip than the classroom group. This study reveals that a museum worksheet class can be an effective educational activity to improve the textbook-based history education and also inspire students with consciousness of our historical culture and relics.
