Abstract
It has been generally assumed that the evauating activities in moral education needs an 'integrated evaluation' which covers both cognitive domain and affective domain. The purpose of the study was to examine its theoretical appropriateness and the possibility to apply to the actual educational process. The more specific questions of the study were phrased focusing on an analysis of teachers' view to the integrated evaluation, since teachers are playing one of the most crucial factors in educational evaluation. The questions were summarized as follows: 1. Is the content of the integrated evaluating in moral education theoretically appropriate and applicable? 2. Is the method of the integrated evaluating in moral education theoretically appropriate and applicable? 3. Is the utilization of the integrated evaluating in moral education theoretically appropriate and applicable? 4. Is techers' role required by the integrated evaluating in moral education theoretically appropriate and applicable? The results of the interview with the techers were summarized as follows: 1. When considered the characteristics of moral education, the integrated evaluation model of moral rationlity and moral affection is theoretically appropriate. But, in practice, there are crucial problems; the lack of teachers' ability to analyze and interprets children's moral behavior and the possibility of intervention of teachers' own subjectivity and biased view. 2. The integrated evaluation model would be possibily adopted to the teaching procedure, but not adequate to the evaluating procedure. Because moral subject needs an comprehensive evaluation system that covers the moral action of children in and out of the class. Moreover, it is not easy to suggest the morally complicated samples to children that the integrated model requires. And, if not impossible, it demands an extraordinary moral insight. 3. It is possible to make use of the result of the integrated evaluation model, especially because it does not turn the children's moral action to any scaled figures. But, there are some difficulty such as the teachers' own subjectivity or biased viewpoint. 4. As it is possible to achieve 'intersubjectivity' through the deliberation among teachers, it is also possible to practice the teachers' role that the integrated evaluation model requires. The most difficult problems in reducing the integrated model to pratice are as follows: first, the different responses of children at evaluation and at usual, that is to say, 'difference' problem; second, the teachers' capability to interprets the level of the children's morality, in other word, 'interpretation' and 'subjectivity' problem. In conclusion, based on the above, the integrated evaluation model needs a classification between the 'moral education evaluation' and 'behavior observatory evaluation' and an unique evaluation instrument. Moral subject evaluation will be used exclusively for the moral development and behavior observatory evaluation for general evaluation of children's behavior at school. This kind of distinction will improve the teachers's obsession on the children's 'difference' problems. And 'subjectivity' that influences upon the teachers interpretation of children's moral behavior would be valid through the deliberating procedure among teachers.
