동화교재에 나타난 도덕성 분석

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze moral items of fairy tales in a teaching program for early childhood education and a early childhood program for new village kindergarten, and to analyze this items showing certain developemental stage of moral model used by Kohlberg. Objects of this study were as follows: 1. Which of 9 items in fairy tales selected from a teaching program for early childhood education and a early childhood program for new village kindergarten in Korea was emphasized? 2. Which of moral developemental stages by Kohlberg did moral items in this fairy tales emphasized? For the data of analysis, author selected 104 pieces containing moral items from 128 pieces except 12 pieces overlapped in two programs, which consisted of 77 pieces of fairy tales in a teaching program for early childhood education and 63 pieces of fairy tales in a early childhood program for new village kindergarten. Author selected moral items from each fairy tales, using 9 items divided by Korean Activity Science Research Center, and analyzed these, using moral developemental stages by Kohlberg. Results were as follows : 1. In area of moral life of fairy tales, the highest level of distribution was area of social life (49.99%). The second level of distribution was area of individual life (38.45%), and the lowest level was, area of national life. In moral items, the highest level of distribution was Duty moral item (25%). There were Right moral item (15%), Truth moral item (13%), and General Politeness moral item (12.5%) in descending order. While Nationalism moral item was the lowest level. 2. In moral developemental stages by Kohlberg of fairy tales, the highest level of distribution was the first stage (39.39%). There were the second stage(32.32%), and the third stage (25.25%) in descending order. While one piece of fairy tales showed the fourth developemental stage, and two pieces showed the sixth developemental stage, respectively.;본 연구는 우리나라 유아교육 현장에서 널리 활용되고 있는 자료집에 실린 자료중에서 동화자료 전체를 대상으로 이에 나타난 도덕적 덕목을 분석하였다. 또한 그 덕목들이 Kohlberg의 도덕성 발달단계와는 어떤 관계가 있는 가를 알아보고자 다음과 같은 연구 문제를 설정 하였다. 1. 우리나라 「유아 교육 지도 자료집」과 「새마을 유아원을 위한 유아 교육 프로그램」에 실린 동화는 9개 덕목중 어떤 덕목들이 강조되고 있는가? 2. 우리나라 「유아 교육 지도 자료집」과 「새마을 유아원을 위한 유아 교육 프로그램」에 실린 동화에서 나타난 도덕적 덕목들은 Kohlberg의 어떤 도덕성 발달단계를 강조하고 있는가? 이상의 연구 문제를 위하여 다음과 같이 분석하였다. 분석자료는 「유아 교육 지도 자료집」에 실린 77편의 동화와 「새마을 유아원을 위한 유아교육 프로그램」에 실린 63편중, 두 자료집에 공통으로 실린 12편의 동화를 뺀 128편을 우선 선정하였다. 이 중 도덕적 덕목이 나타나는 104편의 동화를 본 논문의 분석자료로 사용하였다. 각 동화들은 9개 덕목을 기준으로 도덕적 덕목을 추출하고, 이를 Kohlberg의 도덕성 발달단계에 따라 분석하였다. 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 「유아 교육 지도 자료집」과「새마을 유아원을 위한 유아 교육 프로그램」에 실린 동화들은 개인생활영역의 성실(책임) 덕목이 25%로 가장 높게 나타나고 있으며, 다음으로 사회생활영역에서 정의덕목 (15%), 정직덕목 (13%), 일반예절덕목 (12.5%)순으로 나타나고 있어 전체적으로는 사회생활영역이 강조되고 반면에 국가의식덕목과 검소덕목은 가장 적게 나타나고 있었다. 유아의 동화에 나타난 도덕적 덕목들은 유아의 주변세계로부터 점차 그 영역이 확대되어 나가면서 유아의 세계를 확장시켜 주는 방향으로 바람직하게 나타나고 있었다. 2.「유아 교육 지도 자료집」과 「새마을 유아원을 위한 유아 교육프로그램」에 실린 동화들은 Kohlberg의 도덕성 발달단계중 제 1단계, 벌과 복종에 의한 도덕성의 단계가 전체의 39.39%를 차지하고 있었고, 유치원 유아들의 도덕성 발달단계인 2단계는 32.32%를 보였다. 유아들의 도덕수준을 향상시키는데 바람직한 3단계는 25.25%로 나타났다. 반면에 4단계와 6단계의 발달단계를 나타내는 동화도 각각 1편과 2편씩 나타나고 있었다. Kohlberg가 도덕적 추론을 높이기 위해서는 현 수준보다 한 단계 높은 방법을 제시하는 것이 좋다고 한 것과 같이 2단계의 도덕 발달단계에 속한 유아들에게는 3단계의 발달단계를 나타내는 동화를 소개하는 것이 바람직하다 하겠다.
