음악교육에 있어서 Computer Assisted Instruction (CAI) 활용 연구

Abstract

현대사회는 폭발적인 인구증가와 과학문명의 급속한 발전으로 점차다양하고 복잡해져 가고있다. 이러한 상황하에서의 음악교육의 참모습은 개개인의 미적 잠재력을 최대한으로 길러줄 수 있는 포괄적인 음악교육을 실시하는 것이어야 한다. 이를 위해 현대 음악교육자는 어떻게 하면 보다 많은 대상에게 다양한 음악적 경험을 효율적으로 가르칠 수 있는가의 문제를 연구하게 된다. 오늘날과 같은 과학문명의 급속한 발전은 컴퓨터를 이용하여 교사없이도 컴퓨터와 학습자간의 자동적인 상호작용을 통해 교육할 수 있는 컴퓨터 보조학습(Computer Assisted Instruction:CAI)을 가능하게 했다. 이에 따라 음악교육계에서도 보다 많은 대상을 위한 교육의 효과를 최대로 높이기 위해 현대과학 발전의 산물인 CAI에 관심을 갖게 되었다. 현재 미국과 그밖의 나라에서는 CAI 효과를 인정하여 이미 이를 실시하고 있는 바이다. 본 논문의 목적은 컴퓨터를 교수-학습과정에 적용하는 이론적 고찰과, 음악교육에 CAI 시스템의 활용 실제 및 그 특성과 효과에 관하여 연구하며 음악교수프로그램(courseware)의 실제조사와 개발전략(과정)이론에 근거하여 프로그램의 설계를 제시함으로써 우리나라 음악교육에 CAI를 도입하기 위한 계기를 마련하고자 하는데 있다. 본 논문은 CAI와 Courseware에 관한 이론을 조사하기 위해 교수 공학 전문잡지인 'Educational Technology'를 조사하였고 음악교육의 CAI 도입과 적용, 그리고 효율적인 프로그램을 개발하기 위한 이론을 조사하기 위해 외국의 여러 관계 문헌자료 및 음악교육 잡지인 'Music Educators Journal'과 피아니스트를 위한 'Clavier' 등을 조사하는 문헌연구방법에 의한다. 개개인의 미적 잠재력을 최대한으로 길러주는 것을 궁극목적으로 하는 음악교육에서 기계인 컴퓨터를 이용한 CAI가 어떻게 미적 경험을 통한 내적인 잠재력을 개발시킬 수 있는가의 의문이 있을 수 있다. 미적 경험은 지각에서부터 시작되고 이는 감정적인 면과 지적인 면을 필요로 한다. 음악교육에서의 CAI는 개인차에 따른 개별학습을 가능하게 하고 즉각적인 feedback을 제시하며 시각과 청각의 효과등을 학습자가 알 수 있을 때까지 계속 반복해줌으로 음악요소를 이해하는 개념교육에 용이하다. 뿐만아니라 음악의 기초지식을 바탕으로 학습자 자신이 컴퓨터를 통해 음악을 만드는 창작기회를 부여할 수 있음으로 해서 음악이론 학습과 창작활동의 음악교육 효과를 최대로 높일 수 있는 지적인 면을 담당하게 된다. 그러므로 본 논문에서는 음악교육의 CAI 적응범위를 미적 잠재력을 키우기 위한 지적인 교육의 일환으로 보고, 음악이론 프로그램과 창조성 개발 프로그램에 역점을 두어 조사하였다. 본 논문에서 다룬 구체적인 내용은 다음과 같다. Ⅰ. CAI와 교수프로그램(courseware)의 이론조사 Ⅱ. 현대음악교육의 동향과 음악교육의 CAI 도입 및 적용실제(현재 미국에서 개발된 음악 교수프로그램을 중심으로) Ⅲ. 효율적인 음악 교수프로그램 개발을 위한 표준과 고려 사항 Ⅳ. 음악 교수프로그램의 설계 이상의 내용을 연구한 결과, 음악교육에 있어서의 CAI 활용은 개별학습을 실시하기에 가장 적합하며, 이는 음악이론 교육과 창조성 개발에 적용된다. 그리고 CAI를 도입한 음악교육은 포괄적인 음악교육을 효과적으로 실시하려는 현대음악교육의 동향과도 일치된다. 현재 우리나라에서는 CAI 음악교육이 생소한 분야이긴 하나 미래 사회에서는 컴퓨터가 생활의 일상기기가 될 것이며 음악교육에 필요한 음보, 그래픽, 소리, 음악합성의 기능은 더욱 발전하여 개별화 학습을 위한 교육적 효과를 더 많이 제공할 것이다. 그러므로 성공적인 음악 교육을 위해 CAI를 도입하고 이용하는 것은 현대 음악교육자의 당면한 과제이다. 따라서 우리나라 음악교육자도 현 상황에 맞게 효과적으로 CAI를 이용하고, 효율적인 교수프로그램을 개발하는 문제에 깊은 관심과 연구가 있기를 기대한다.;Contemporary society becomes more and more diversified and complex according to the increasing populations and the rapid developments of scientific technology. Under these circumstances, the music education ought to be comprehensive enough to develop the innate musical responsiveness of every individual for his aesthetic experience and nurture and expand his potential to the highest possible level. For this purpose, many contemporary music educators are interested in more efficient methods of teaching various musical experiences to the students. Nowadays, as a sort of methods to maximize the educational effects, computer made its application to teaching-learning process and CAI (Computer Assisted Instruction) possible in music education. As the result, contemporary music educators have showen more interests in the application of CAI in music instruction. This thesis was undertaken to evaluate the effectiveness in the application of CAI in music instruction. This thesis was undertaken to evaluate the effectiveness of CAI in music education and to find out the applications of music CAI courseware suggest new and appropriate improvement of the music education in Korea. Various literatures and the articles from the professional periodicals such as Music Educators Journal, Clavier, and Educational Technology, were reviewed as resources for this study. This study has stated that music education must devote its primary function for aesthetic experiences of every individual student. Aesthetic experience needs cognitive and affective elements. CAI is possible and powerful method for individualized instruction for students with different ability and provides aural-visual materials and an immediate feedback. In this way, it's a good way to approach for conceptual theory education in music. And it provides the opportunities to compose music as a musicmarker (a musical composition) program. Therefore CAI is adapted as a method of intellectual development in music education. The following procedures were undertake to find out the efficiency, and the possibilities of CAI application in music education. Ⅰ. Reviewing the theory of CAI and courseware. Ⅱ. Trends of the contemporary music education and the scope of the application of CAI in music instruction. Ⅲ. Elements for the efficient music courseware design. Ⅳ. Designing music program. It leads to a conclusion that CAI in music education adapts to individualized instruction and it provides music theory program and musicmaker program. It would enhance the learner's imagination and creative thinking, and computer should be extended it's CAI application into school music class of all levels as well as private music instruction. And it also goes with a trends of contemporary music education. Music educators have to design and utilize the efficient courseware for the successful music education. In Korea, though a theoretical application of CAI in music education has not been developed yet, if we make a good use of the music CAI suitable to the present circumstances and develop the efficient music courseware, it will play an important role in the matter of developing the students comprehensive and creative musical activities.
