한국 시청각교육의 역사적 고찰

Abstract

오늘날 교육에 있어서 필수불가결의 요소인 교육공학은 1920년대 미국에서 공식적인 활동을 시작했으며, 우리나라에서는 1950년대부터 도입되었다. 그리고 시청각교육 전문인을 양성하기 위하여 1963년 이화여자대학교 사범대학 시청각교육과가 최초로 설립되었다. 또한 정부 및 전문협회에서도 시청각교육 운동이 계속 전개되었다. 그러나 우리나라에 시청각교육이 도입된지 30여년이 지난 시점에 있어서 그 역사가 부분적으로는 정리가 된 상태이지만, 우리나라 시청각교육 전반에 걸쳐서 역사적 배경에 관한 체계적인 정리가 되어 있는 것 같지는 않다. 또한 시청각교육 전문인 양성기관이 생긴지도 20여년이 지났으므로 이에 대한 고찰이 필요하다고 본다. 본 연구에서는 교육공학에 대한 역사적 이론적 배경을 고찰하고, 우리나라 시청각교육의 발전 경위 및 현황을 살펴보며, 특히 최초의 시청각교육 전문인 양성기관인 이화여자대학교 시청각교육과에 관하여 연구 고찰하는데 그 목적이 있다. 연구방법은 관계 문헌, 전문잡지, 신문, 문서등을 통한 문헌연구와 관련 인사와의 면접을 통하여 연구하였다. 본 연구의 연구범위는 다음과 같다. 1. 교육공학의 역사적·이론적 배경에서는 미국에서의 시각교육, 시청각교육, 시청각통신, 교육공학으로의 발달을 중심으로 협회활동에 관하여 고찰한다. 2. 우리나라 시청각교육의 역사적 배경에서는 (1)시청각교육의 발달과정 (2)방송교육의 발달 과정 (3)고등교육기관에서의 시청각교육에 관하여 고찰한다. 3. 이화여자대학교 시청각교육과에 관한 연구에서는 (1)시청각교육과의 연혁 및 발전 (2) 교과과정의 변화 (3)시청각교육의 연구 경향 (4) 졸업생 활동에 관하여 고찰한다. 우리나라 시청각교육의 역사를 요약 정리하면 1. 시청각교육을 1951년 '영화교실' 의 시작이 본격적인 활동 동기이며 , 1957년 부터는 정부에서도 시청각교육에 관심을 갖게 되었다. 그 결과 시범시청각교육원이 설립되고, 문교부 직제에서 시청각교육 담당 부서가 생겼으며, 법령도 제정되었다. 2. 전문협회에서의 시청각교육 활동은 1984년부터 행해져 오고 있다. 3. 방송교육에서 교육방송은 1951년 '라디오 학교'로 시작되었으며, 최근에는 한국교육개발원이 맡고 있다. 방송통신교육은 고등학교와 대학과정이 운영되고 있다. 4. 고등교육기관에 있어서의 시청각교육은 시청각교육이 교직과목으로 개설되고 있는 학교가 많으며, 서울지역의 경우 대다수의 대학에서 시청각 센타를 설치하고 있다. 5. 이화여자대학교 시청각교육과는 1963년에 설립되어 1985년까지 853명의 학사와 67명의 석사를 배출하였다. 앞으로 우리나라 시청각교육 발전을 위하여 제언하면 다음과 같다. 1. 시청각교육의 필요성에 대하여 정부와 사화 각계에서 인식하여 시청각교육과 졸업생들이 전공 분야로 나아갈 수 있는 제도적 뒷받침이 있어야 하겠다. 특히 시청각교육과 졸업생에게는 '시청각교육' 교사자격증이 주어져야 하겠다. 2. 정부차원에서는 문교부 직제에 독립된 시청각교육 담당 부서를 설치하고 관계법령을 강화하며, 일선교사들의 시청각교육 연수에 내실을 기할 필요가 있다. 3. 시청각교육에 관심있는 사람들이 참여할 수 있는 전문협회가 필요하다. 1985년에 이와 같은 목적으로 '한국교육공학연구회'가 발족되었는데, 앞으로의 활동이 기대된다. 4. 고등교육기관에서의 시청각교육 과목이 참된 의미의 교육공학이 되기 위해서는 체제적 접근의 교수설계, CAI 등의 분야도 연구 발전되어야 한다. 5. 시청각교육 분야 전공인들의 교육공학에 관한 연구활동이 더욱 활발히 이루어져야 할 것이다.;Educational technology is essentially a young field of study. The first formal movement of educational technology had begun in the early 1920's in America. The name of educational technology has been changed as "Visual Instruction'.' "Audiovisual Instruct ion" "Audiovisual Communication" and "Educational Tech-nology (Instructional Technology)". The definition of educational technology is a complex, integrated process involving people, Procedures, ideas, devices, and organization for analyzing problems and devising, implementing, evaluating, and managing solutions to those problems, involves in all aspects of human learning. In Korea, audiovisual education began in the early 1950's. Ewha Womans University established the Department of Audiovisual Education in 1963. Ewha Womans University was the first insti- tute for this field in Korea. The purpose of this thesis is to review the historical background of audiovisual education, especially concentrating on the Dept. of Audiovisual Education at Ewha Womans University. Various literatures and the articles from the professional periodicals such as Instructional Innovator and Educational Technology were reviewed as resources for this study. The contents of this study are as follows: 1. To review historical theoretical background about the educational technology in general. 2. To study the historical background of audivisual education in Korea. Audiovisual education in Korea started with "Movie Class" in 1951. 3. To study the history of the Dept. of audiovisual Education at Ewha Womans University. There are 853 graduates in undergraduate school and 67 in the graduate. The curriculum of the Dept. of Audiovisual Education bas been re-formed several times. Educational technology becomes as essential part of education. However educational technology is considerably a new field in Korea. It is suggested that, in order to develop this field, government should support auciovisual education, associations should be operated lively, and audiovisual educational in colleges should be reinforced.
