社會的 權力關係에 따른 Nonverbal Communication 差異 硏究

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to review the forms of nonverbal communication which are different according to the various power relationship and to analyze the aspect of power which causes the difference of nonverbal communication. The contents of this study are as follows; 1. For the comprehension of the theoretical foundation of on nonverbal communication, the concept, the background, the form of nonverbal communication, and the culture which acts as the factor of nonverbal communication were studied. 2. By analyzing the theory on power and the power in general communication, the influence of the power on communication process and communication's transmission function is studied. 3. To comprehend the difference of nonverbal communication according to power relationship, the relative theories and the results of various studies including experimental research were examined and analyzed by forms (kinesics, proxemics, paralanguage, etc.). The results of the study can be summarized as follows; Those in discriminatory relationship exhibits a great difference of nonverbal communication because of the function of an inherent power. Most of nonverbal communication has the dual function of control and status according to its role of being used equally or unequally. The actin of control or submission in a discriminatory relationship is similar to that of man to woman in discriminatory condition. In a way, the act of superior to inferior is consistent with that of man to woman, and woman shows typical act of inferior to superior. If we correctly analyze and understand power which appears in the form of nonverbal communication between individuals or between groups, communication will be achieved more rationally in common with the intension of being try to overcome unright constraints.;nonverbal communication은 일상생활에서 중요한 意思疏通 수단으로, 단순히 친분이나 감정 및 정서적 표현뿐만 아니라 개인 상호간의 支配에서부터 대규모적인 社會統制에 이르기까지 복합적인 權力을 나타내는 다양한 의미로 작용하고 있다. 특히 최근의 연구들에 의해 nonverbal communication을 個人的 生物學的 해석이나 親分 性欲 등의 표현으로 분석하려는 기존의 연구경향에서 벗어나, 사회 전체적 脈絡과 背景을 통해 把握하려는 움직임이 활발히 나타나고 있다. 따라서 本 硏究에서는 여러 類型의 權力關係에서 相互間에 다르게 나타나는 nonverbal communication의 형태를 把握하고, 또한 그러한 nonverbal communication의 差異를 일으킨 要因으로써 내재된 權力의 측면을 分析하고자 하였다. 본 論文의 硏究內容은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 먼저 nonverbal communication에 관한 理論的 기반을 이해하고자 nonverbal communication의 槪念, 背景, 類型 및 nonverbal communication의 要因으로서 文化에 대해 考察하였다. 둘째, 權力에 관한 理論과 함께 一般 communication에서 나타나는 權力을 分析함으로써, 權力이 communication 過程 및 그 傅達機能에 미치는 영향을 고찰하였다. 세째, nonverbal communication에서 權力關係에 따라 어떤 差異가 나타나며 그 차이가 무엇을 意味하는가를 알아보기 위해, 이에 관한 理論과 實驗硏究 및 여러 硏究들의 結果를 각 類型別(kinesics, proxemics, paralanguage, 기타)로 考察 分析하였다. 硏究結果를 綜合的으로 分析해 볼 때 對等하지 않은 關係에서 相互間에 나타나는 nonverbal communication은 權力關係에 따라 다르게 나타나며, 對等한 關係에 있어서도 다른 사람을 支配하려는 성향을 가진 사람은 支配階層이 使用하는 nonverbal communication을 그대로 사용하고 있어, 일상생활의 사소한 움직임에도 인간은 어떤 役割 期待를 가지고 있음을 알 수 있다. 또한 대부분의 nonverbal communication은 상대방과의 관계에서 이것이 平等하게 使用었는가에 不平等하게 사용되었는가에 따라, 支配 또는 身分을 표현하는 이중적 기능을 가진다. 한편 同等하지 않은 관계에서 支配나 服從을 포함하는 행동은, 男女間의 不平等한 關係에서 남성과 여성이 취하는 형태와 유사하게 나타난다. 즉 上級者가 下級者에게 보여준 행동은 남성이 여성에게 보여준 행동과 同一하며, 여성은 남성에게 하급자가 상급자를 대할 때 보여주는 전형적인 행동을 나타낸다. 階級組織的 背景내에서 性別間의 類型에도 초점을 맞춤으로써 두가지 形態의 利點을 가질 수 있다. 한편에서는 不平等한 여러 상황에 대한 類似性을 관찰함으로써 남성과 여성의 행동 및 相互關係를 밟혀주고, 다른 한편에서는 性에 기초를 둔 權力에 관해 開發된 分析은 다른 權力分野에도 적용될 수 있다는 것이다. 더 나아가 nonverbal communication에 관한 硏究가 權力이 없는 集團에 대해서 뿐만 아니라, 여성들이 처해 있는 상황에 대해서도 명백해질 것이라는 점을 인식할 수 있다. 個人相互間 및 集團相互間에서 nonverbal communication의 형태로 나타나는 權力作用을 올바르게 分析 이해한다면, 부당한 制約을 극복하고자 하는 意志와 함께 좀 더 合理的인 communication이 이루어 질 수 있을 것이다.
