학습장면에서의 위계적 성역할 관계

Abstract

본 논문은 가부장적 사회 안에서 여성에게 차별적으로 부과되는 위계적 성역할관계가 학교의 학습장면에서 어떻게 나타나고 있는지를 알아보고자 한다. 사회적 또는 문화적 재생산 이론에서는 학교교육을 통하여 계급관계가 재생산되고 있다고 주장한다. 본 논문에서는 교육은 또한 위계적으로 분화된 성역할관계를 재생산하고 있음을 가정한다. 교육을 통해서 위계적 성역할관계가 재생산되는 측면은 교육과정의 다양한 영역을 포함하는데, 본 논문에서는 아동의 행동규범이나 인성의 사회화에 영향을 미칠 교사의 기대효과에 촛점을 맞추어 분석하였다. 유아원을 연구대상으로 연구자가 설정한 연구문제는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 유아원에는 여성다움과 남성다움이 어떻게 구분·정의되어 있는가? 둘째, 교사는 아동의 성별에 따라 다르게 기대하고 행동하는가? 6주동안 유아원을 관찰하여 얻은 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 유아원의 문화 속에는 여성다움과 남성다움이 뚜렷하게 구분되어 정의되고 있었다. 둘째, 유아원에는 남자아동에게는 '씩씩하게' 여자아동에게는 '예쁘게'라는 정의가 작용하고 있었으며, 유아원에서 나타나는 남성과 여성의 관계는 주도-추종적 관계를 암시하고 있었다. 세째, 교사는 여성다움과 남성다움의 정의에 근거하여 성별에 따라 상이한 기대와 행동을 하고 있었다. 이러한 연구결과에 의하면 유아원의 교육은 위계적 성역할관계를 재생산하고 있다고 결론지울 수 있다.;The purpose of the study is to investigate how the gender relation , differently imposed to female in patriarchal society, is represented in learning context. The assumption of this study is that social relation has two dimensions, one is class relation another is gender relation . Gender relation is defined as not biological category but social , political , economical category. The social- cultural reproductionists of education insist that schooling reproduces class relation . In this study it is supposed that schooling also reproduces hierarchaly imposed, gender relation . In the sociological discussions of gender relation schooling service to reproduction of patriarchal ideology, in order to legitimate patriarchal social structure. Though the reproduction of gender relation occurs diversely in educational process, this study focuses on teacher expectation that influence the behavior-norm and personality of children . This study attempts to answer the following questions : First , how is feminity and masculinity defined in infant school? Second, how diffenently does the teacher expect and behave according to child's sex? Through the observation of an infant school during six weeks, this study got the following findings. First , in infant school, feminity and masculinity is defined obviously on the basis of hierarchal and patriarchal gender relation . Second, the definition 'beauty and meekness' affects girl's self-concept and behavior. In contrast , the definition 'bravery urges boy to do positively. Third, teacher differenty expects and behaves according to child's sex. On the ground of hierarchal and patriarchal gender relation , teacher socializes children differently and imposes unequal workloads. From these findings, it come to conclusion that education in infant school reproduces gender relation.
