유아교육학과의 예비 유아 교사 피아노 교육에 관한 연구

Abstract

에토피오(2009)는 유아의 음악적 경험은 교사와 부모에 의해 만들어진다고 주장하며 유아 교사의 음악적 능력이 중요하다고 하였다. 또한 MENC(1993)의 연구에 따르면 유아 교사의 피아노 연주 기술이 유아의 음악성에 영향을 미친다는 것을 알 수 있다. 이처럼 유아 교사의 피아노 교육은 필수적이며, 이에 대한 연구 또한 많이 이루어져야 할 것이다. 김선희(2008)의 연구를 보면 유아 교사 양성 대학에서는 예비 유아 교사들을 위해 많은 피아노 실기 강좌를 개설하고, 유아 교사들 또한 이를 수강하였음에도 불구하고 대다수의 유아 교사들이 현장에서 피아노를 활용한 유아 음악 지도에 많은 어려움을 느끼고 있다는 것을 알 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 유아 교사를 양성하는 대학 내 피아노 실기 강좌의 운영 실태를 조사해 봄으로써, 실기 강좌에 대한 학습자들의 만족도와 현장과의 연계성에 대해 살펴보고 이를 바탕으로 대학에서는 예비 유아 교사들을 위한 피아노 교육이 어떻게 이루어져야 하는지 알아보는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구 방법으로는 서울, 경기 소재의 38개 대학교의 실기 교과 과정을 조사하였고 이에 대한 학습자들의 만족도와 실제 운영 실태를 알아보기 위해서 유아 교사 211명을 대상으로 설문조사를 하였다. 연구도구는 윤현진(2002)과 박사빈(2008)의 선행 연구에서 사용된 질문지를 바탕으로 본 연구의 목적에 맞게 수정, 보완하여 사용하였다. 자료 분석은 SPSS 18.0 프로그램을 사용하여 통계처리 하였고 빈도와 백분율을 산출하여 분석하였다. 본 연구에서 나타난 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 유아 교사 양성 대학의 유아음악 관련 강좌는 각 대학별로 다양하게 운영이 되고 있었으며 각 과목별 명칭, 학점 수, 배당 시간 등 각 대학별로 차이가 있었다. 둘째, 대학 내 유아교육학과에 개설되어 있는 음악 교과목들의 명칭은 다양했으나 학습 내용에 있어 명확히 구분되지 않는 경우도 있었다. 셋째, 서양 음악 중심의 교과와 전통 음악 중심의 교과의 비율이 2.8배의 차이를 보였다. 넷째, 실기 강좌 중 피아노를 다루는 강좌는 70.59%로 피아노 교육에 대한 비중이 높음을 알 수 있었다. 다섯째, 수업 시 사용하는 교재는 ‘반주법’ 중심의 교재가 많았으며 수업내용 또한 ‘반주법’을 가장 많이 다루었다. 여섯째, 실기 강좌에 대한 현직 유아 교사들의 만족도는 대체로 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 학생의 실력에 관계없이 분반하여 수업을 진행하는 점, 실기 강좌를 수강할 수 있는 학기가 짧다는 점, 수업 중 개인이 실제 지도 받는 시간이 매우 짧다는 점, 학교의 연습실 시설이 부족하다는 점을 문제점으로 인식하였다. 일곱째, 실기 강좌와 현장과의 연계성은 높게 나타났으며, 피아노 실기 교육에 대해 유아 교사들은 중요하다고 인식하고 있었다.;Etopio(2009) insisted in his study that musical experiences during the infant period are developed by teachers and the parents, highlighting the significance of musical capabilities of teachers. In addition, the study of MENC (1993) shows that teachers' technical abilities of piano playing influence the musicality of the infant. As such, educating piano education to pre-school teachers is essential, and more research works need to be done regarding this area. According to the research of Sunhee Kim (2008), many universities fostering pre-school teachers have opened practical piano classes for those in the course of pre-school teachers, and the pre-school teachers also took piano class before, while most teachers find it difficult to teach children music using piano at the site. This study intends to identify the status of operating practical piano classes within the universities that cultivate pre-school teachers, figuring out the relationship between the satisfaction of the learners of practical piano classes and their actual teaching at a pre-school, and taking into consideration effective ways for piano classes can be carried out effectively for students in the course of pre-school teachers at university. The research method used for this research is that 38 universities located in Seoul and Gyeong-gi Province were selected to investigate the curriculum of practical classes, conducting a survey targeted on 211 pre-school teachers to identify the satisfaction of learners on the classes and current status of how the practical music classes were operated. As a research tool, the questionnaire used for preliminary research by Hyun-jin Yoon (2002) and Sa-bin Park (2002) were revised and supplemented appropriately for this research. Data analysis was conducted by using SPSS 18.0, with the calculation and analysis of the frequency and proportion. The results from this research are as follows. First, classes of musical education for infants organized at universities for pre-school teachers varied by university, with the classes having different titles, unit numbers, and allocated hours. Second, the titles of music classes at the department of early childhood education were diverse while the contents of the class were not distinctively identified for some cases. Third, there existed a gap of 2.8 times between classes of western music and Korean traditional music. Forth, the proportion of practical classes for piano among all practical classes accounted for 70.59%, suggesting that piano education is of great importance. Fifth, textbooks for classes as well as the contents of the class were mostly focused on piano accompaniment. Sixth, the satisfaction of pre-school teachers on practical music classes at university were low in general, with the causes pointed out as follows: classes divided regardless of individual abilities; a short period of terms for students to take the practical music class; few chances for students to get private lessons during the class; and lack of facilities for students to practice within the university. Finally, it was identified that the relationship between practical music classes and actual pre-school sites was high; and the pre-school teachers recognized the importance of practical piano education.
