한국어 자기소개서의 장르 분석 및 장르 중심 접근법을 활용한 쓰기 교육 방안

Abstract

This research is purposed to identify the genre features on Korean self-introduction letter via analysis of genre on Korean self-introduction letter and present practical educational material necessary for teaching writing a letter of Korean self-introduction, as recognizing the difficulties in writing a letter of Korean self-introduction for foreign applicants who want to work for Korean corporations. A language learner is exposed to numerous texts, and since in order to understand the genre commonly used in society, intuitive but even high-level learners comes to difficulties in a field of expression like writing, it is required to become familiar with the genre. At this point, the genre analysis and genre-based approach provide learners genre information and activities that would raise awareness about genre(Hyland, 2004, p. 115). In this research, Korean self-introduction letter is categorized, and by analyzing an employ purpose, one of sub-categories, we seek to aim for understand the generalized structure model and formulaic expression on the Korean self-introduction letter. As a result of analysis of 50 self-introduction letters for an employment purpose on native Korean speakers, unlike English job application letter that is sent to human resource representative as a letter form, Korean self-introduction letter has a feature to explain him/herself in a constant form. Also, at this point, there appears to emerge typical 10 items such as growing background (46), reason to apply(46), plans after joining company(45), personality(41), social experience(22), skills and abilities(18), etc., and as result of analyzing the 6 high frequency items (growing background, reason to apply, plans after joining company, personality, social experiences, and skills and abilities), each item has usually a generalized structure and strategy. This shows that Korean native speakers have specific rules or strategies to write self-introduction letters. In addition, based on the structure specific analysis on the formulaic expression of major strategies, the research presented the generalized structure model together, and with that, as corpusing the whole self-introduction letter and each structure, statistical analysis was processed. On the based on the result of corpus statistics, it presented linguistic features of Korean self-introduction letters in selecting structure-specific and high frequency 25 vocabularies. And, in-depth interviews and surveys were performed with Korean company recruiters who hire foreign workers in order to ensure whether there are in common between the genre analysis results of employment purposed self-introduction letter and actual Korean self-introduction letter that foreign applicant should write. As a result of in-depth interviews and surveys, most Korean companies were receiving Korean self-introduction letters when hiring foreign workers, and at that time, when the companies have their own application forms, almost same self-introduction letter form that Korean workers used should be also used in foreign worker applying process. As it was consistent with the results of the genre analysis from the specific item surveys, it brought more confidence. If a genre analysis decides what to teach, then a genre-based approach decides how to teach. This research, based on the genre analysis results, developed Korean self-introduction education materials and presented Korean self-introduction writing education strategy in utilizing a genre-based approach. Such a genre analysis and writing education strategy in utilizing a genre-based approach help learners more focus on their own stories and write fluently in grasping the characteristics of the genre and adjusting to a form expected in the society, not let them write in same style. The research result will be able to be utilized as positive educational materials with which foreign applicants can understand easier the characteristics of genre on the self-introduction letter.;본 연구는 한국 기업으로의 취업을 희망하는 외국인 지원자들이 입사 지원에 필요한 한국어 자기소개서 작성에 어려움을 느낀다는 점을 인식하고, 취업 목적 한국어 자기소개서 장르 분석을 통해 한국어 자기소개서의 장르적 특징을 파악하고, 한국어 자기소개서 쓰기 교육에 필요한 실제적 교육 자료 및 교육 방안을 제안하는 데에 그 목적이 있다. 언어를 배우는 학습자는 수많은 텍스트에 노출되어 있고 직관적이지만 그 사회에서 통용되고 있는 장르를 인식하는데 말하기, 쓰기와 같은 표현 영역에 있어서는 고급 수준의 학습자들도 이를 어려워하기 때문에 장르를 익히는 것이 필요하다. 이때 장르 분석과 장르 중심 접근법은 학습자들에게 장르에 대한 인식을 높일 수 있는 정보와 활동을 제공한다(Hyland, 2004, p. 115). 본 연구에서는 한국어 자기소개서를 하나의 장르로 분류하고, 하위 장르인 취업 목적 한국어 자기소개서를 분석하여 한국어 자기소개서의 일반화된 구조 모형과 정형화된 표현이 있는지를 파악하고자 하였다. 연구 자료는 외국인 지원자들이 한국어 자기소개서를 처음 작성하는 상황 맥락이 대기업 인턴이나 신입으로의 입사 지원이고, 또한 자기소개서는 직종과 경력에 따라 형식의 차이가 있으므로 국내 최대 채용 사이트 A에서 공개한 자기소개서 1000부 중 일반 사무직 신입으로 지원하기 위해 작성한 한국인 모어 화자의 합격 자기소개서 50부를 층화 표본 추출하여 사용하였다. 분석 방법은 Bhatia(1993)가 제안한 ‘장르 분석의 기본 원칙(basic principles of genre analysis)’에 따라 진행하였으며 6단계 언어적 분석 단계에서는 Henry와 Roseberry(2001)의 연구 분석 방법을 일부 참고하였다. 언어적 분석 단계에서는 본 연구의 연구 문제를 검증하기 위해 한국어 자기소개서의 일반화된 구조 모형과 정형화된 표현을 분석하였으며, 또한 코퍼스 통계 분석을 통해 한국어 자기소개서의 언어적 특징을 분석하여 제시하였다. 다음으로는 이러한 장르 분석 결과의 시각을 확인하고 신뢰도를 더하고자 외국인 지원자를 채용하고 있는 한국 기업 인사담당자를 대상으로 설문조사와 심층면담을 실시하였다. 한국어 모어 화자의 취업 목적 자기소개서 50부 분석한 결과, 한국어 자기소개서는 영문 입사 지원 편지와 같이 인사담당자에게 보내는 편지 형식이 아니라 일정한 항목에 맞추어 자신을 소개하는 설명의 성격을 가진다. 또한 이때 성장배경(46), 지원동기(46), 입사 후 포부(45), 성격(41), 사회경험(22), 특기 및 능력(18) 등의 10개 항목이 나타났으며 이 중 출현 빈도가 높은 6개 항목(성장배경, 지원동기, 입사 후 포부, 성격, 사회경험, 특기 및 능력)의 구조와 하위 전략을 분석한 결과, 각 항목에는 보통 1개의 일반화된 구조와 하위 전략이 나타났다. 또한 구조별 주요 전략의 정형화된 표현을 분석하여 일반화된 구조 모형과 함께 제시하였으며 이와 더불어 한국어 자기소개서 전체와 각각의 구조를 코퍼스로 하여 코퍼스 통계 분석을 진행하였다. 코퍼스 통계 분석 결과를 바탕으로 구조별 고빈도 어휘 25개를 선별하여 한국어 자기소개서의 언어적 특징을 제시하였다. 그리고 한국어 모어 화자의 취업 목적 자기소개서 장르 분석 결과가 실제 외국인 근로자가 작성해야 하는 한국어 자기소개서와 일치하는지를 확인하고자 외국인 사무직 근로자를 채용하고 있는 한국 기업 인사담당자를 대상으로 설문조사와 심층면담을 진행하였다. 설문조사와 심층면담 결과, 대부분의 기업에서 외국인 근로자 채용 시 한국어 자기소개서를 받고 있었고, 이때 자기소개서 자사 양식이 있는 경우 한국인 직원 채용 시와 거의 동일한 자기소개서 양식을 사용한다고 답변하였다. 또한 자기소개서 구성 항목 조사에서 본 연구의 장르 분석 결과와 일치함을 보여 본 연구의 신뢰도를 더해 주었다. 장르 분석이 무엇을 가르칠 것인가를 결정한다면 장르 중심 접근법은 어떻게 가르칠 것인가를 결정하다. 본고에서는 앞서 진행한 장르 분석 결과를 바탕으로 한국어 자기소개서 쓰기 교육 자료를 개발하고, 장르 중심 접근법을 활용한 한국어 자기소개서 쓰기 교육 방안을 제안하였다. 이러한 장르 분석과 장르 중심 접근법을 활용한 쓰기 교육 방안은 모든 학습자가 같은 글을 쓰게 하는 것이 아니라 특정 사회나 언어에서 요구하는 장르적 특징을 파악하여 그 사회에서 기대하는 형식 안에서 좀 더 자신의 이야기에 집중하고 유창하게 글을 쓰도록 도와준다. 본 연구의 결과는 외국인 지원자들이 한국어 자기소개서의 장르적 특징을 좀 더 쉽게 파악하여 성공적인 자기소개서를 작성할 수 있는 긍정적인 학습 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.
