고등학교 합창단 활동이 사회성에 미치는 영향

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 고등학교 합창단 활동을 하는 합창단 학생과 그렇지 않은 일반 학생의 사회성을 타당도와 신뢰도가 검증된 사회성 검사를 통해 비교하고, 합창단 활동을 하는 합창단 학생들의 인식을 조사하여, 고등학교에서의 합창단 활동이 사회성에 영향을 미치는가를 밝히는 것이다. 그리고 입시에만 몰두해있는 고등학생들에게 합창단 활동을 적극 권장하여 참여도를 높이고, 이로 인해 청소년들의 삶에 긍정적인 도움을 주는 것에 교육적 의의가 있다. 본 연구의 대상은 서울시에 소재한 4개의 고등학교 합창단 학생 144명과 해당 학교 166명의 일반 학생들이다. 이 학생들에 대한 사회성은 근면성, 안정성, 준법성, 사교성, 협동성, 이 5가지의 하위 영역으로 나누어 측정하였고, 각 영역을 측정하기 위한 조사 도구는 합창단 학생과 일반 학생의 사회성을 비교할 사회성 검사와 합창단 학생들에게만 해당하는 합창단 활동 질문지로 구성하였다. 이를 통해 고등학교 합창단 활동의 사회성 발달에 미치는 영향을 비교 조사하고, 합창단 활동을 하는 144명의 학생들이 합창단 활동에 대해 학생 본인이 느끼는 인식을 조사하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 합창단 활동은 고등학교 학생의 사회성에 긍정적인 영향을 갖는다는 사실을 확인할 수 있었다. 좀 더 구체적으로, 사회성 검사를 통해 고등학교 합창단 활동을 하는 합창단 학생과 그렇지 않은 일반 학생의 사회성을 비교한 결과, 사회성의 하위 영역인 근면성, 안정성, 준법성, 사교성, 협동성, 모든 영역에서 합창단 학생의 평균이 일반 학생의 평균보다 모두 높다는 사실을 관찰할 수 있었고, 사회성의 모든 하위 영역에서 유의미한 차이가 있다는 결론을 얻을 수 있었다(p<.001). 앞서 언급한 사회성에 대한 결과와 더불어, 고등학교 합창단 활동을 하는 학생들이 합창단 활동에 대한 학생 본인의 인식은 대부분 긍정적인 반응이었다는 사실을 알 수 있었다. 좀 더 자세히, 합창단 학생들은 합창 활동에 보람을 느끼고 있고, 합창 교육이 중요하다고 인식하고 있었다. 또한 학생들의 근면성, 안정성, 준법성, 사교성, 협동성, 사회성의 각 영역이 합창 활동을 통해 증진되는 효과를 확인할 수 있었다. 그리고 합창 활동 후 변화된 부분에 대한 의견을 종합해본 결과, 마음의 안정과 자신감 향상의 비율이 가장 크다는 사실도 관찰할 수 있었다. 이와 같은 연구의 결과를 바탕으로 합창단 활동이 학생들의 사회성에 긍정적인 영향을 미친다는 결론을 얻을 수 있다. 이 결론을 토대로, 향후 고등학교 합창단 활동을 적극 권장하여 활성화 시킨다면, 학생들의 사회성 발달과 더불어 사회 적응에 도움이 될 것이다.;The purpose of this study is to show how chorus activities in high school influence the sociality of the students by comparing the sociality of the chorus students with that of the non-chorus students through the sociality test which is valid and reliable, and by observing the awareness of the chorus students for chorus activities. Further, it is to help high school students to attain the positive attitude in their lives by encouraging their participation on chorus activity. The subjects of this research are 144 chorus students and 166 non-chorus students of the 4 high schools located in Seoul, Korea. The sociality was divided into 5 subordinate parts and was measured. For this, the research tool measuring each part was used, which consisted of the sociality test for the chorus and the non-chorus students and the questionnaire only for the chorus students. Through this tool, it was investigated whether the chorus activities in high school influence the development of the sociality, and what awareness the 144 chorus students have for the chorus activities. The results of the study were summarized as follows: Firstly, it was found that chorus activities had the beneficial influence on the sociality of high school students. More specifically, the result acquired from the sociality test showed that chorus students had higher average for each part of 5 subordinate domains than non-chorus students. Also, it was confirmed that there were meaningful things in all the subordinate parts of the sociality(p<.001). Along with the result mentioned above, it was observed that most of chorus students had the optimistic point of view for increase of sociality. Also, those students found the worth of chorus activities, and recognized the importance of the chorus education. In addition, all the 5 subordinate parts of the sociality for the chorus students have been increased by chorus activities. Especially, it was found that the rise of the comfort and the confidence of the students after chorus activities had the highest ratio in the responses of the questionnaire. On the basis of these results, the study suggests that chorus activities have the positive influence on the sociality of the chorus students in high school. In the future, if more chorus activities would be highly recommended, vitalized, and implemented, it will definitely be helpful for students' development of sociality, and further students will have the ability to adapt a new society easily which they will face in the future.
