조직 PR실무자의 전문성과 위기경험이 위기준비(crisis preparation)에 미치는 영향

Abstract

The role of PR practitioners has been important in the crisis society. As Social Network Services (SNS) is getting developed, the crisis issue has spread out the entire world in a moment. So now the duty of the management of crisis is has been changed. PR practitioners should manage crisis before and after. Few earlier studies showed how important crisis preparation for organizations. And also earlier studies produced evidence that with effectiveness of experience of an organization with crises. These showed that the experience of crisis is positively related to the crisis preparation. It means that the crisis experience has learning effects so; PR practitioners should focus on what happened and what they did during the crisis. Therefore this article examined the effect of crisis experience by survey. In this study, the meaning of crisis has been divided by Coombs’ study which argued that the crisis has three clusters through the responsibility of the crisis. It showed that crisis experience positively related to the crisis preparation and the crisis which has the most responsibility has the biggest effect. To be recognized, PR practitioners as the crisis management professional in organization in this society, this study examined the effect of PR practitioner’s professionalism. It proved that professional PR practitioners are doing better crisis preparation. This study analysis that the effect of professionalism of PR practitioners and crisis experiences. Thorough this study people could focus on PR practitioners as the crisis management professionals. So this study would helpful future studies which related to crisis and PR practitioners could get recognitions as professionals.;본 연구에서는 PR실무자들의 전문성과 잠재적 위기에 대한 국내 조직의 위기준비 현황을 살펴보아 PR실무자의 전문성이 위기준비에 미치는 영향을 검증하여 위기관리 전문가로서의 PR실무자의 입지를 굳히기 위해 시작했다. PR실무자들의 전문성에 따라 전문성이 높은 실무자가 더 나은 위기준비를 하고 있음을 검증하여, 성공적인 위기관리를 위해서는 체계적으로 전문성을 갖춘 PR실무자의 역할이 크게 작용함을 밝히기 위함이다. 또한, 위기의 경험이 학습효과(learning effect)를 나타내어 위기의 경험이 PR실무자의 위기경험에 영향을 미친다는 기존 연구결과를 바탕으로 국내 PR실무자들의 위기경험 현황을 파악하고 그에 따른 위기준비 차이를 통해 위기의 학습효과를 다시 한 번 강조하려하였다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 PR실무자의 전문성과 그들의 위기경험에 따라 위기준비에 어떤 차이가 나타나는지 알아보았으며, 선행연구를 통하여 PR실무자의 전문성 차원에 따라 위기경험의 유무와 위기경험 정도에 따른 위기준비 차이를 통계적으로 검증하였다. 이를 위해 국내 조직에 속한 PR실무자 총 206명을 대상으로 PR실무자 전문성 척도, 위기경험 유무 척도, 위기경험 정도 척도를 포함한 설문지를 구성하였다. 결측치가 3개 이상 있거나 무작위로 응답한 것으로 보이는 불성실한 응답 자료를 제외하고 총 202개의 표본을 사용하여, t검증과 일원분산분석 그리고 회귀분석을 실시한 결과는 다음과 같다. 먼저 위기경험 유무에 따른 위기준비차이를 검증하여, 위기를 경험한 집단이 더 나은 위기준비를 하고 있음이 나타났다. 이는, 위기경험의 학습효과를 검증하며 단편적인 위기경험으로 끝나는 것이 아닌 위기경험을 통한 학습이 향후 위기준비에 중요한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구에서는 단편적으로 위기경험 유무만을 살펴 본 것이 아니라, 위기의 책임성에 따라 위기에 차등을 두어 가중치를 부과하였다. 가중치가 부과를 통해 위기경험 정도를 측정하여 위기경험 정도가 높은 PR실무자의 위기준비가 더 잘 되어있음을 알 수 있었다. 또한 PR실무자의 전문성에 따라 위기준비에 차이가 나타났으며, 이를 통해 전문성을 갖춘 PR실무자들이 늘어날수록 잠재적인 위기에 대한 조직의 위기준비는 더욱 체계적으로 이뤄질 것이 기대된다. 본 연구는 위기관리 전문가인 PR실무자의 전문성과 위기준비를 함께 분석하여, 국내 PR실무자들이 전문가로 나아갈 수 있는 방향을 마련했다는 의의가 있다. 무엇보다 구체적인 척도를 바탕으로 국내 PR실무자의 전문성, 위기경험, 위기준비 현황을 실질적으로 파악하여 향후 국내 PR실무자 전문성과 위기관리에 관한 연구에 기반이 되는 자료로서 도움이 될 것이다.
