그리스의 민주정치와 여성

Abstract

세계사 학습에서 고전기 그리스사를 학습할 때 가장 강조를 두는 부분이 고대 그리스의 민주정치 발달과정이다. 민주정치가 발달하면서 시민들의 권리가 확대되어 아테네는 매우 자유로운 나라라고 인식이 되어있다. 하지만 ‘그리스에서 발달된 민주정이 사회 구성원 모두에게 그 혜택을 받았을까? 여성사적 관점에서는 역사에서 남성의 경험과 여성의 경험은 달랐기 때문에, 민주정치가 발달하면서 남성 시민의 권리는 확대된 반면 여성의 역할은 더욱 제한되었다고 하여 고전기 그리스의 민주정치를 새롭게 바라보았다. 하지만 이러한 인식을 통해 기존의 고전기 그리스사를 새롭게 해석하여 역사교육에 적용한 연구는 시도되지 않았다. 그렇기 때문에 학생들이 고전기 그리스사의 대한 온전한 모습을 파악할 수 있을지 의문이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 선행 연구를 토대로 하여 고등학교 1학년 학생들을 대상으로 고전기 그리스를 새롭게 바라보는 수업모형을 개발하였다. 수업 내용에서는 교과서에서 그리스 여성에 대한 언급은 되어 있지만 구체적으로 드러나 있지 않아, 잘 알 수 없는 여성들의 생활상을 심화 · 확대하였다. 자료는 British Museum 등 박물관의 유물과 문헌자료를 활용하여 여성들의 경제적 활동, 사회적 활동, 가옥구조, 의복, 그리스 신화 이렇게 총 5가지 주제로 구성하였다. 수업 방법은 학생들에게는 여성사적 접근이 새롭고 낯설 것이기 때문에 학생들의 흥미를 유도하면서 전시 학습을 복습하는 차원에서 수업 도입부에서 영상을 활용하였다. 수업 유형은 학생들이 능동적인 활동을 통해 결과를 도출해낼 수 있도록 하기 위해 모둠별 탐구수업으로 기획하였다. 또한 수업안의 효과성을 검증하기 위해 현직 교사 두 분께 수업 시연을 요청하였고, 학생들의 수업 전 · 후 인식 변화를 살펴보기 위해 설문조사를 실시하였다. 수업 후 본 연구자는 학생들이 작성한 활동지와 설문조사를 분석하여 다음과 같은 사실을 확인하였다. 학생들은 기존에 교과서를 통해 받아들였던 관점을 이를 다른 시각에서 바라봄으로써 수업에 매우 흥미를 느꼈고, 상상력 · 창의력을 가지고 글쓰기, 그림 그리기와 같은 활동을 하는 것에 매우 긍정적인 반응을 보였다. 또한 수업에 참관했던 현직 교사들이 본 연구의 수업안의 활용성에도 긍정적인 결론을 내렸다.;A portion receiving the most emphasis when learning Greek history of ancient period in learning of world history is the development process of democratic politics in ancient Greece. With development of democratic politics, citizens' rights were expanded and Athens are recognized as a very free country. However, were all society members benefited from the democratic rules developed in Greece? From the viewpoint of women‘s history, men's experience in history was different from women's. With development of democratic politics, women's role was further limited whereas men citizens' rights were expanded, prompting a new look at democratic politics of Greece in the ancient period. However, studies applying to history education the new interpretation of an existing Greek history of the ancient period have not been attempted through such recognition. Thus, it is questionable whether students can grasp the full aspects about the ancient Greek history. Consequently, in the present study, a class model with a new look at the ancient Greece has been developed for 1st graders in a high school based on previous studies. In the class contents, specifics of Greek women are not revealed in textbooks although a mention is made of them, hence the life aspects of not well-known women have been intensified and expanded. For data, remains and literature data of museums such as British Museum were utilized to compose a total of 5 themes consisting of women's economic activities, social activities, housing structures, clothing and Greek myths. For class methods, videos were utilized in the class introduction part at a review level of exhibit learning while inducing students' interest since an approach of women's history would be new and foreign to students. For class types, exploration classes as per group were planned so that students could derive results through active activities. Also, to verify effectiveness of the class plans, a request for class demonstration was made to two current teachers and a questionnaire survey was conducted to find changes in students' recognition before and after the class. After the class, the investigator analyzed activity journals and the questionnaire survey prepared by students and the following facts were ascertained. Students found the class very interesting by looking at the viewpoints accepted through existing textbooks from a different angle, and displayed very positive responses to activities such as writing and drawing with imagination and creativity. Also the current teachers who observed the class made a positive conclusion as to the utility of class plans in the present study.
