반편견(Anti-bias)교육을 위한 도서의 분석

Abstract

The purpose of this study is 1) to analyze the trend of children's books for anti-bias education; 2) themes of anti-bias education, and 3) the genre in the Anti-Bias education picture books published between 1980's and Maarch, 1999. The question for the study are as follows: 1. What is the in trend of the Anti-bias books for the young children ? 2. What is the themes in the anti-bias books for the young children ? 3. What is the genre of Children's books for the young children? The subject of this study were 42 volumes; 22 picture books published anti-bias book for children by korean, the other 20 picture books translated anti-bias book for childrem by foreign The criteria of analysis of the materials and themes were used ten guidelines are offered as a starting point in evaluation of children's bias-free books by the Council on Interracial Books for children. Themes is based on those of Kyung Woo Lee and Eun Wha Lee(1999). The analysis of genre is based on those of Jeuong Suk Seo(1995), KyungWoo Lee, Young Hee Jang, Cha Sook Lee, Young Hee Kno, Eun JaHyun(1997). The final finding from this analysis may be summarized as follows: 1. As a result of analysis of the book, It shows decreased trend in chilidren's book for anti- bias education after 1996. 2. The analysis of the themes in the study is the most themes were the resit stereotyping and discriminatory behavior in 1995's and 1996's. but the above themes in 1997 and 1998's has decreased. 3. The genre from the study shows the biggest anti-bias book for children is the information story, second the folktale story, and third created story.;본 연구는 1980년 이후 우리나라에서 출판된 반편견 도서를 연대별, 주제별, 장르별로 조사 분석함으로써 반편견 그림책에 나타난 내용을 분 석하는데 목적을 두고 있다. 이와 같은 목적을 위하여 다음과 같은 연구 문제를 설정하였다. 1. 유아용 반편견 도서의 연대별 경향은 어떠한가? 2. 유아용 반편견 도서의 주제별 경향은 어떠한가? 3. 유아용 반편견 도서의 장르별 경향은 어떠한가? 본 연구 대상은 1980년부터 1999년 10월까지 우리나라에서 출판되어 유아교육현장에서 사용될 수 있는 유아용 그림책중 반편견 내용이 있는 도서이다. 출판년도는 초판 연도를 기준으로 하였다. 본 연구의 연구 대상도서를 1980년 이후의 도서로 제한한 이유는, 어린이를 위한 도서 위원회(Council on Interracial Books for Children)의 관점인 '반편견 도서 선정에 있어서 출판날자를 고려하는 것이 중요하다'는 점과 Derman-Sparks 와 the A. B. C Task Force(1989)에 의한 반편견 도서 선정 기 준으로 1980년 이후의 책을 고르도록 권장한 점을 고려한 것이다. 그 결과 분석대상 도서로 우리나라 사람이 글을 쓰고 그림을 그린 그림책 22권과 외국에서 출판되었으나 현재 우리나라에 번역·출판된 그림책 20권으로 선정하였다. 반편견 도서 선정과정에서는 '반편견 어린이 도서 분석의 10가지 방법'을 참조로 하여, 이에 적절하지 않은 도서를 제외하는 방법을 택하였다. 도서의 주제를 분석하기 위해서 '반편견 교육에 포함 되어야 하는 주제'(이경우와 이은화, 1999; Derman-Sparks & the A.B.C Task Force, 1989; Hall & Rhomberg, 1995)를 기초로 하였다. 반편견 도서의 장르 분석을 위해서는 서정숙(1995) 및 이경우, 장영희, 이차숙, 노영희, 현은자(1997)가 구분한 장르를 기초로 하였다. 본 연구결과, 반편견 교육을 위한 도서의 분석은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 반편견 교육을 위한 도서의 연대별 경향은 우리나라의 경우, '반편견 도서 분석 10가지 기준'에 의거하여 살펴본 결과 1994년까지는 반편견 도서가 출판되지 않았다. 그러나 1995년 12권(28.6%), 1996년도 12권(28.6%), 1997년도에는 7권(16.6%), 1998년도에는 6권(14.3%), 1999년(10월 현재)에는 5권(11.9%)으로 42권이 출판된 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 반편견 교육을 위한 도서의 주제별 경향은 그동안 능력, 문화적 유사점과 차이점, 고정관념과 차별행동에 저항하기와 관련 있는 도서가 편중되어 출판되었다. 특히 1995년도와 1996 년도에는 문화적 유사점과 차이점과 관련된 도서가 많이 나타난 경향을 보였고 1999년도에는 성 정체성과 관련된 도서가 출판된 경향을 보였다. 셋째, 반편견 교육을 위한 도서의 장르별 경향은 유아 반편견 교육을 위한 도서는 사실동화에 해당하는 장르가 가장 많은 비중을 차지하였고, 다음으로 전래동화, 창작동화 순으로 나타났다.
