청소년이 선호하는 대중음악의 음악적 경향 및 노랫말 연구

Abstract

Recently, heated discussions have been developed over detrimental effects of popular music. In TV, newspapers and magazines, singers with suggestive costumes and dances attract the attention of the public, singing the songs of which lyrics are hardly understandable. So most of the older generation are deeply worried about and disapproved of such a trend. Then what we should notice here is that an increasing number of juveniles prefers popular music to others, even though the voice of anxiousness is getting high. The more juveniles find attraction in popular music, the more sensational songs bombarded the massmedia. Besides, the criticism of popular music that has been published so far was not constructive and failed to offer a guideline. A great number of Korean intellectuals and artists still believe that the major cause of the current social and cultural crisis lies in the contents of public culture or popular art delivered through the massmedia. Then should we just look on the uncritical acceptance of popular music by juveniles? Is it a Proper attitude if we won't bother dealing with juveniles and popular music, saying that "This is not good music." because it has no appeal to us? In this regard, the purpose of this study is to analyze the current musical patterns of the recent Korean and American popular songs and to help the juvenile students and their teachers recognize anew it. In the process of preceding this study, it is found that dance music with fast tempo is leading in the style of the Korean popular songs and revival music in the American pop songs. Also the lyrics of the American pop songs directly expressed suggestiveness and violence while most Korean Popular songs are about 'love between men and women' The Patterns observed in the lyrics of popular songs are summarized as follows: 1) The abuse of meaningless words; 2)Minimized significance of lyrics; 3) The pervasive trend of singing love; 4) Vivid and erect expression; 5) Open description of sex that is found in costumes and dances. The main Purpose of this study is to offer incumbent teachers anew understanding of the influence of popular music which might be overlooked and ta induce juvenile students with no critical selection of popular music to appreciate good music for themselves. Now it is high time for us ta make efforts to understand the juveniles' preference for popular music and ta take a lead in fostering the development of popular music. ;최근 들어서 대중음악의 해악성이 부쩍 많이 논의되고 있다. TV나 신문, 잡지등을 볼 때 선정적인 옷차림의 가수들이 야한 율동과 치장으로 시선을 끌고 있고 뭔지 알아들을 수 없는 말들을 가사로 한 노래들을 부르고 있따. 그것을 보는 대부분의 어른들은 걱정스럽거나 부정적인 시선으로 바라본다. 그런데 여기에서 주목해야 할 것은 그런 여러가지 우려의 목소리들이 나오는 것과는 상관없이 청소년들은 더욱 더 대중음악을 즐겨 듣고 있고 그럴수록 더 선정적이고 자극적인 내용의 음악들이 쏟아지고 있다는 것이다. 그리고 그러한 우려들은 단지 비평의 수준에만 머물고 더이상의 방향을 제시해 주지 못한다는 것 또한 큰 문제로 지적되고 있다. 우리 사회에서는 아직까지 지식인이나 문화예술의 전문가들중에 오늘날의 사회 문화적 위기의 주요 원인이 대중매체에 담긴 대중문화나 대중예술에 내용에 있다고 믿는 사람들이 많다. 그러면 이러한 현실에서 청소년들이 무비판적으로 대중음악을 수용하는 것을 방판하고 있어야만 하는가? 단지 기성 세대의 구미에 맞지않는다하여「좋지 않은 음악」이라고 규정하고, 언제까지나 청소년들과 함께 대중음악을 방치해야만 할 것인가? 본 연구는 최근에 인기 있었던 대중가요와 팝송에 대하여 음악적 경향과 노랫말의 의미를 분석하여 청소년들의 대중음악에 대한 실태를 알아보고 교사들과 학생들에게 그 실태를 재인식시키는 것을 목적으로 한다.
