중학교 가정과와 타교과와의 내용관련에 관한 연구

Abstract

The present study is an attempt to investigate the linkage of the content of Home Economics subject to that of other subject matters at the middle school level and to suggest some practical problems in Home Economics teaching related to this. It is postulated that this line of inquiry helps to define the nature of Home Economics as a school subject more clearly more spacifically, this study tried to answer the following questions: 1. What are the major differences, between the Old and New Home Economics curriculum? 2 What are the subject matter items commonly dealt with in Home Economics and other subjects? 3. How are those items dealt with in the text books? 4 What are the defining characteristics of the ""knowledge"" of Home Economics, or Home Economics as a school subjects? 5. What practical suggestions can be made for Home Economics teaching in line with those defining characteristics? In order to answer the above listed questions, an overall review was made of Home Economics teaching, followed by an analysis of the Old and New Home Economics curriculum, and then the Home Economics curriculum was compared with those of other subjects to select the subject matter items common in both subject areas. A sample of those items are further studied referring tp textbooks in order ta find out how they are actually treated in the textbooks. Comparing the Old and New Home Economics curriculum, it was witnessed that more emphasis was put upon the ""theoretical knowledge"" in the New curriculum. This suggests in turn that the New, curriculum is geared toward emphasizing the basic ideas and principles necessary for achieving the objectives of Home Economics. Those other subjects which show obvious linkages to Home Economics are 1) moral education, 2) social studies, 3) science physical education, and 5) arts. An analysis of' the content items that may be regarded as ""peculiarly home economics"" showed that such items are largely confined to the ""technical"" matters, and that most of the Home Economics subject matter items are in principle linked to other subjects. This shows that the Home Economics as a subject is by nature ""integrated subject,"" and therefore the Home Economics can be more profitably defined as a complex of many related disciplines. The following suggestions can be made for the teaching of Home Economics: 1. The curriculum and textbooks of Home Economics are to be prepared in coordination with other subjects. 2. It is important for the Home Economics teacher to be sensitized to the ""integrated"" nature of Home Economics subject. 3. Further studies are needed to clarify the defining characteristics of Home Economics subject.;본 연구는 교과로서의 가정과의 성격을 파악하기 위한 노력의 한 부분으로서 중학교 가정과에서 취급되고 있는 내용과 타교과에서 취급되고 있는 내용이 어떻게 관련되어 있는가를 조사하고 그것에 따른 가정과 교육의 몇 가지 문제점을 지적하기 위하여 시도되었다. 본 연구에서 해결하고자 하는 문제는 구체적으로 다음과 같다. 1. 가정과의 신 교육과정과 구 교육과정은 어떤 차이가 있는가? 2. 타교과와 관련된 가정과 내용은 무엇인가? 3. 타교과와 관련된 가정과의 내용은 교과서에서 어떻게 취급되고 있는가? 4. 가정과 지식 또는 교과로서의 성격은 어떠한가? 5. 이러한 가정과의 성격은 가정과의 학습지도에 어떤 시사를 주는가? 본 연구에서는 위의 문제들을 해결하기 위하여 먼저 가정과의 가정과 교육을 개관한 뒤에 가정과의 신? 구 교육과정을 분석하고 다음으로 가정과 교육과정에 제시된 교육내용과 관련된다고 생각되는 타교과 교육과정에 제시된 교육내용을 뽑아 가정과의 교육내용이 구체적으로 어떤 교과의 어떤 내용과 관련 되는가를 알아보았다. 교육과정에는 가르쳐야 할 내용의 요목만 제시되어 있기 때문에 내용의 관련을 구체적으로 파악하기 어려우므로 교육과정 수준에서 관련된 내용 중에서 일부를 선정하여 그 내용이 각각의 교과서에서 실지로 어떻게 취급되고 있는가를 알아보았다. 본 연구에서 신? 구 교육과정을 비교 분석한 결과 신 교과과정은 명백하게 이론을 강조하는 방향으로 개편되었음을 알 수 있다. 이것은 신 교과과정이 가정과의 교육목적을 달성 하는데 관련되는 기본원리, 또는 지식을 더 강조하고 있음을 보여준다. 교육과정 수준에서 타교과와 명백히 관련되는 교과는 1) 도덕과, 2) 사회과, 3) 과학과, 4) 체육과, 5) 미술과 이다. 또한 타교과와 관련되지 않는 내용과 타교과와 관련되는 내용을 교과서 수준에서 분석해 볼때 가정과 특유의 내용이라는 것은 좁게 “기술” 분야에 국한된 것이며 대부분의 가정과 내용은 원칙상 타교과와 관련된 것임을 알 수 있다. 이것은 곧 가정과가 통합교과로서의 성격을 가지고 있음을 보여 준다. 그러므로 가정과의 교과로서의 성격은 여러 학문이 복합 되어 있다는 특이성에서 가정과의 성격을 확립하는 것이 보다 바람직 하다고 본다. 본 연구의 결과 다음과 같은 점을 제언하고자 한다. 1. 가정과의 교육과정과 교과서를 편찬하는데 있어서 타교과와의 조정이 필요하다. 2. 가정과 교사에게 타교과와의 구체적인 관련을 알려 줄 필요가 있다. 3. 가정과의 교사를 양성하는 방법에 있어 통합교과로서의 가정과의 성격이 반영되어야 한다. 4. 통합교과로서의 가정과의 성격을 보다 자세히 밝히는 연구가 나와야 한다.
