Georg Friedrich Haendel의 oratorio에 관한 연구

Abstract

Georg Frederick Handel (1685~1975)은 Johann Sebastian Bach (1685~1750)와 함께 똑 같은 해에 태어난 18세기의 가장 유명한 음악가로서, Baroque (1600~1750) 시대의 음악을 최고 절정으로 끌어올려 음악 역사상 획기적인 하나의 전환을 보여 주었다. Handel의 위대한 창작 활동은 오늘의 음악과 직결되며, 그의 음악은 당시의 모든 양식을 집대성한 장대하고도 숭고한 아름다움을 지니고 있다. Handel은 opera와 oratorio의 거장으로서 나폴리 악파에서 많은 것을 힘입었으며, 서사시적 혹은 희곡적인 줄거리와 내적으로 결부된 풍부한 가락, 교묘한 대위법, 휼륭하게 구성된 화성에 의하여 독창, 합창, 관현악을 자유롭게 써서 힘과 열과 서정미가 풍부한 극적인 효과를 창조해 내어 고전적 oratorio를 완성하였다. 서론에서 Handel의 oratorio와 「Messiah」를 중심으로 연구하게 된 목적과 방법 및 연구의 한계를 밝혔다. 본론에서 첫째로 본 논문의 이해를 돕기 위해 oratorio의 기원과 발전의 역사 및 음악적 형태를 살펴보고, 둘째로 Handel의 시대적 배경과 생애, 그리고 음악의 일반적 특성을 통하여 그의 종교적 oratorio 작품들을 중심으로 연구 고찰하였다. 셋째로는 Handel의 명성을 확립시키는데 가장 큰 역할을 한 종교적 Oratorio 「Messiah」의 구성과 특징 및 내용 소개를 하였다. 결론으로 Handel의 oratorio와 Messiah를 종합 분석하여 규명하고 oratorio가 예술적 종교음악으로서 미학적 관점에서 미치는 영향과 중요성을 새로이 인식하고 연주되어야 할 것을 제언하였다.;George Frederick Handel (1685-1759), one of the greatest musicians in the 18th century, born in the same year as Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750), enhanced the music of Baroque (1600-1750) to the peak, showing an epoch-making, turning point in the history of music. His musical virtuosity is directly related to today's music, and provides an opportunity for opening a new phase in music today. A virtuoso of the opera and oratorio, Handel had been heavily influenced by Napoleon musical school, brought classical oratorios into perfection by employing epic and dramatic plots, utilizing diversified rhythms, dexterous counterpoint, well-composed harmonies in solos, chorus, and symphonies, and by showing dramatic effects with power, passion and epic taste. Contents dealt with in this study are as follows: In the intorduction, purpose, method and scope of study are described. The main body of this study reviews the origin of oratorio, the developmental process, and the musical style, to give helping hand to understanding, and examines Handel's background, his time, life, musical idiosyncracies through his oratorios. And ""Messiah"" one of his best religious oratorios, which had played an important role in his establishment of reputation is analysed on the level of plot, characteristics, and contents. In conclusion, Handel's oratorios and ""Messiah"" are synthetically analysed and examined. It is desired that his oratorios should be understood and performed in a new way by realizing how the oratorios have affected aesthetic sector as artistic, religious music.
