옥루몽 연구

Abstract

문학이란 그 시대의 사회상 내지는 생활상의 반영이며 우리는 문학 속에서 그 시대 사회구조와 사상적인 배경, 또는 그 시대 사람들의 가지고 있는 인생관 등을 알 수 있게 된다. 또한 작가는 문학 속에서 그 시대의 환경, 사상 등 제반조건을 통해 형상화 된 인물인 인간상을 보여주는 것이다. 옥루몽은 조선조시대의 봉건적이며 귀족적인 생활상을 그린 작품으로서 대체로 고대소설이 나타내고 있는 제반특징과 소설의 유형을 내포하고 있다. 이 옥루몽을 통해서 나타나는 고대인들의 사상적 배경과 그들이 추구하는 이상적 인간상과 인간의 궁극적인 삶의 의미를 찾아보려 한다. 우선 옥루몽의 문명사적 의미에서 옥루몽이 신성소설로서의 면모를 갖추었음을 밝혔고 소설사적 위치를 통해 표기방법의 문제를 떠나서 내용상의 문제에 가치를 두어 재평가되어야 함을 설명했다. 옥루몽의 사상적 배경을 보면 현실적 인간생활 속에서는 유교적인 dogma(충, 효, 열)를 추적해 가고 있으며 옥루몽의 첫 장이 도교의 천상세계를 묘사하고 있고 끝 장에서는 남녀주인공들이 천상으로 회귀한다는 것과 주인공들의 탄생, 성장, 입신, 전쟁시의 도술, 위기해소 등에서 보이는 도교적인 색채로 보아 정신적인 이상세계를 도교에 두고 있다는 것을 알 수 있었으나 내면에 있어서는 불법의 도리를 설파하기 위한 것으로서 그것은 관세음보살의 말에서 엿볼 수 있다. 즉, 남녀주인공들의 인연을 맺게 하여 끝없는 윤회의 고해 속에서의 정근으로 말미암은 인연을 오히려 그것으로써 넓은 불법의 진리를 깨닫게 하고 윤회전생에서 해탈케 하여 정토로 이도하고자 한다는데서 알 수 있었다. 이러한 사상적 배경 가운데서 이상적 인간상이 형성되었으니 남성상은 주인공 양창곡을 통해 묘사되었고 여성상은 다섯 여주인공을 통해 묘사되었는데 이들은 초인적이 비범한 능력을 가진 인물군으로써 특히 여주인공 강남홍은 현실적 차원에서는 불가능한 탁월한 도술의 주인공으로 그려졌다. 남녀주인공들은 모두 천상의 선관으로서 문창성군이 인간세계에서는 양창곡으로, 상제의 시녀인 옥녀는 윤소저로, 천요성은 황소저로, 홍란성은 강남홍 또는 홍심탈로, 제천선녀는 벽성선으로, 도화성은 일지연으로 환생하니 이들은 □세에 인연이 있어 잠시 인간지상에 □강한 인물로 그려 신이성을 나타내고 있다. 남성상으로 나타난 양창곡은 외면적으로는 유교사회의 현실과 이상에 맞게 입신양명하므로써 가문을 빛내고 명성과 부를 지니며 출장입상하는 문무겸전한 완전인임과 동시에 인? 지? 용을 겸비한 군자의 풍도를 지닌 이상적 인간이며 내면적으로는 하늘이 낳은 비범인으로써 고난과 위기에서는 천우신조를 극복하고 마침내는 인간의 근본적인 욕구인 영원불멸을 이룩한 이상인으로 나타났다. 여성상으로 나타난 다섯 여주인공들은 각자 뚜렷한 개성을 가진 여인들인데 윤소저는 꾸밈새없는 정정한 모습의 연꽃으로, 황소저는 부귀와 번화한 기상을 가진 모란으로, 강남홍은 봄빛을 받아 빛나는 아름다운 홍매화로, 벽성선은 담담하고 청고한 수선화로, 일지연은 아련한 여성미를 지닌 도화로 그려서 그들이 좋아하는 이러한 꽃으로 그들의 성격의 일면을 나타내었다. 이들은 뛰어난 재주를 가지고 나라가 위기에 봉착할 때는 충절을 나타내고 화평한 상태에서는 가정적인 여성으로서의 면모를 보이는데 즉 유교사회가 이상으로 보는 규범인 삼강오륜, 삼종지도, 부창부수 등에 따라서 행동하는 여성들로서 이들을 이상적 여성상으로 나타내었다. 그리하여 종국에는 남녀주인공들이 다 같이 천상으로 회귀하여 영원불멸을 이룩하고자 하는 고대인들의 이상을 나타내었다. 이상과 같이 이상적 인간상의 면모를 파악하였으며 또한 갈등적인 요소에서 보여지는 인간상의 면모에서는 위기에 부딪칠 때마다의 행동을 통해서 유? 불? 도의 삼대사상이 역시 강력하게 지배하고 있음을 알았다. 아울러 이러한 인간상을 통해서 고대인들이 추구하는 인간의 궁극적인 삶의 의미를 정신적인 신앙 속에서 찾고 있다는 것을 밝혔다.;The Literature is the reflection of the aspect of society and living of the age, and we can understand the social structure and background of thought, of the age through literature and view of. life of those age. Through literature, the writers also create human pattern, the symbolized human by all-conditions such as circumstances and thoughts. The ""OKRUMONG"" shows the living aspect of aristocracy upon feudal system of Cho Seon Dynasty, and it also contains the characteristics and variations of the ancient, novels. Through this work I am going to seek for the final meaning of life of ideal human pattern and people and the background of the thought of ancient, people. First, of all, I explained this work ha the pattern of the divine nature as novel in civilizational term, and it must be estimated by the matters of the contained thoughts aside from the matters of description. To review of the background of thoughts of OKRUMONG, it, pursues the Confucian Dogma from human living in actual life, and the Chapter One of this work describes the heavenly world of Taoism, and the last chapter describes the man and woman heroline's return to Heaven, and we know that this work put, it's basic in Taoism, to which the spiritual ideal world is based, by the deep Taoic color, which are demonstrated by their birth, growth, success, and Taoic magic and escape from risks etc. But, in inside world, it's purpose is to explain and spread the truth of Buddhism. It means that Buddha made the relationship between man and woman heroine, and let them understand and the wide and deep truth of Buddhism by the relationship of affection among endless agony of the Transmigration of souls, and also let them step into the clean soil corne from the transmigration and translives. Among such background of thoughts, this work create ideal human symbols, man symbol was described through Yang, Chang Kok, the man hero, and woman symbols wore described through five heroines, those heroines are of super ability, especially, the heroine, Kang, Nam Hong has outstanding Taoic technics which is unable for the actual dimension. Tho man and women heroines are heavenly officials, Mun Chang Sung is described as Yang, Chang Kok in this world, the maid of heavenly King, Ok Nyo as Yun So Jeo, Chon Yo Sung as Hwang,So Jeo, Hong Ran Seong as Kang Nam Hong or Hong Hon Tal, Je Ghon Seon Nyo as ByokSung Seon, Do Hwa Sung as Il Ji Yeon. They restored such human, to live in this world by the relation they have had. Yang, Chang Kok, described as Man hero, succeeded to match with the actuality and ideal of Confunianism Sociaty, he brightened his family, with great, reputation and wealth, a complete man with swords and pen, together with Gentle, brave and knowledgement, a ideal man, outsidely, in inside, he is a, man of from heaven, who accomplished the eternal life which is the basical desire of human beings, to overcoming troubles and crisis by the help of god. The five heroines, described as woman symbols, have vivid dd characters, and Yun, So Jeo appeared as lotus flower of chastity, Hwang, So Jeo as of wealth and prosperous characters, Kang Narn Hong as Hong Mae Flower, a boautiful woman, and Byok Sung Sun as daffodil, a clean woman, Il Ji Yeon as peach, the symbol of sorrow. With their outstanding talent, they devoted for their country at the time of national crisis, and they spend as peaceful housewoman at the time of peaceful conditions, namely, they were symbolized as ideal women, who act following the rule of Sam Kang O Ryun, (The three bonds and five human morals), Sam Jong Ji Do (The third cousin way), and Bu Chang Bu Soo (the rule of obeying husband). Now we understood the ideal human symbols as above, and also knew the leading eseencials of three thoughts of Confucianism-Buddhism- Taoism through their deed at, the time of crisis.
