학생들의 음악재능과 학생자신 및 부모의 음악적 욕구수준간의 상관적 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 학생들의 음악재능과 학생 자신 및 부모의 음악적 요구수준간의 상관적 관계를 알아보려는 것이다. 시대가 변천하여지고 문화수준도 높아짐에 따라 의? 식?주의 안정된 생활에서 교육에 대한 관심이 많아졌다. 전인적인 인간을 만들기 위해서 교육은 행해지고 있는 반면에 부모들은 자녀에게 학교에서 배우는 음악공부 외에도 개인적으로 음악교육을 시켜 보다 정서적이며 명랑하고 안정된 성격을 갖게 하려고 많은 관심을 갖고 있음이 사실이다. 그러나 올바르게 음악교육을 하려면, 학생들이 가지고 있는 본능적인 욕구를 체극함으로써 능동적이고 적극적으로 음악의 아름다움을 추구하려는 그들의 마음씨와 태도 및 습관을 길러 주어야 함과 동시에 음악의 아름다움을 정확하게 받아들일 수 있는 그들의 능력이 마련될 수 있어야 하며, 음악에 대한 자기 자신의 생각이 긍정적으로 만족을 하며 무한한 가능성을 가진 자기의 음악적 재능으로 앞으로의 뚜렷한 목표를 갖고 적극적으로 음악공부를 하고 있는가를 알아보고 자녀에게 음악공부를 시키고 있는 부모는 과연 올바른 판단을 갖고 자녀의 음악적 능력에 맞는 기대 속에서 이루어지고 있는지, 또는 자녀의 음악적 재능을 과대평가하여 자녀에게 부담감을 주게 되는 경우가 있는가 하면, 남들이 시키니까 우리 아이도 시킨다는 무관심 속에 자녀의 능력이 감소되는 경우가 있다. 그러므로 학생의 음악적 요구수준과 부모의 음악적 요구수준은 과연 어떠한 관심과 기대 속에서 이루어지고 있는지 정확히 알아보아야 될 줄 안다. 본 연구에서 규명하려는 문제는 첫째, 학생의 음악재능이 높거나 혹은 낮으면 그들의 음악적 요구수준과는 어떠한 영향이 미치는지 관계를 알아본다. 둘째, 학생 자신의 음악적 요구수준과 그들의 부모의 학생에 대한 음악적 요구수준은 어떠한 관계가 있는지를 알아본다. 셋째, 학생들의 음악재능과 그들 부모의 음악적 요구수준은 어떠한 관계가 있는지를 알아본다. 이와 같은 문제를 해결하기 위해서 시내 여자 중학교 4개 학교로 음악을 개인적으로 전공한지 2년반 이상 된 여학생 285명과 그들의 부모들을 대상으로 선정하여 음악재능검사와 음악적 요구수준 조사를 실시하였으며, 여기서 나온 결과를 기초로 하여 결론을 맺어 보면 다음과 같다. 1. 학생의 음악재능과 그들의 음악적 요구수준과의 관계에서 음악재능이 높은 집단의 음악적 요구수준과 낮은 집단의 음악적 요구수준과의 관계를 검증해 본 결과 P,<.01 수준에서 퍽 의의있는 차이를 나타내고 있다. 그러므로 음악재능이 높은 학생은 그 자신의 음악적 요구수준도 높고, 음악재능이 낮은 학생은 그 자신의 음악적 요구수준도 낮음을 알 수 있다. 2. 학생들의 음악적 요구수준과 그들 부모의 음악적 요구수준과의 관계는 r = .52로 어느 정도 상관있게 나타나고 있으므로 학생 자신의 음악적 요구수준과 그의 부모들의 음악적 요구수준은 어느 정도는 일치하고, 또는 일치하지 않음을 알 수 있다. 3. 학생들의 음악재능과 부모의 음악적 요구수준과의 관계에서 r = .15로 극히 낮은 상관으로 나타나고 있으므로 학생들의 음악재능의 높고 낮음이 그의 부모들의 학생에 대한 음악적 요구수준과 정적인 상관이 없음을 알 수 있다.;Ⅰ. Purpose The study intened to investigate the relationship between student's musical talent and aspiration level for Music of both students and their parents. The rationale for the research purpose lies in the asumption that musical achievement can be influenced by the musical talent as well as by student's voluntary need for music education and parent's expectation level for musical achievement of their children. Specific problems posed to be clarified in the study are summarized as follows: 1. What kind of relationship exists between student's musical talent and their aspiration level for music? 2. Is there any relationship between student's aspiration level for music and their parent's expectation level for their children's musical achievement? 3. Does any relationship exist between student's musical talent and their parent's expectation level for their musical achievement? Ⅱ. Method 285 girl students from four separate schools and their parent were used as subjects, of whom the students have already had two-and-a-half-year's music lesson individually. Music talent tests are used to determine the student's musical talent level and musical need survey was conducted using questionnaire for both student and their parent. Correlation coefficients with basic statistics were computed to confirm the proposed relationship between musical talent and student's musical aspiration level as well as parent's expectation level. Ⅲ. Results and Discussoins In view of the previous studies and theories, the result for the first question, that is, the proposed relation of student's musical talent to their aspiration level for music education is considered to imply, in short, that higher the student's muscial talent, the more positive their need level for music. Therefore, it is considered to sug- gest that music education be directed toward studen's potential musical talent in accordance with their aspiration level, which resultantly lead to more satisfaction and emotional security as Lee has confirmed in his study. Another finding focuses on the second question, i.e., the relationship between student's aspiration level and their parent's expectation level. As shown in Ⅲ, no significantly higher relationship appeared in the relationship between the two variable, which can be interpreted to suggest that there exist some conflict between student's and their parent's aspiration level, causing adverse effects in music education, In order words, parent usually urge their children to study music against their children's need. Ⅳ. Conclusions and Suggestions The followings are a few conclusions derived from obtained results and in view of discussions. 1. In general, there exist a significantly positive relationship between student's musical talent and their need level for music. 2. Student's musical aspiration level is moderately related to their parent's expectation level for their children's musical achievement, though not so significantly high. 3. There is no direct relation ship between parent's expectation level for their children's musical achievement and their children's musical talent. Based on the above conclusion, first if is suggested that music ecducation be directed toward the full unfoldment of student's potential musical talent considering; the student's need level which is directly related to their satisfaction from music education. Second, student's musical need level which is related to a stimulation factor of achievement motive can be utilized to develop musical achievement motive by setting proper expectation level, resulting in a emotional security and a favorable mental health. In addition, it is deemed to be more desirable that parent's expectation for their children should be proper to their children's potential music ability. Otherwise, it is considered to cause adverse effect on musical achievement of student when parent urge their children to study music against their will instead of facilitating musical achievement.
