Carl Orff의 교육용 작품 Schulwerk 분석 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 이미 유럽과 미국 등 전세계의 여러나라에서 음악교육에 새로운 방법으로 채택되고 있는 칼·올프(Carl Orff)의 음악교육이념과 그 방법이 무엇인지 알고자 함이며 나아가 우리나라 음악교육에 반영되는 하나의 기초적인 자료가 되기를 바라는 마음에서 시작하였다. 먼저 작곡가이며 음악교육가인 Orff의 생애와 교육용작품 Schulwerk에 담겨진 내용을 음악적으로 분석하면서 그의 교육이념과 교육방법을 알고자 문헌적인 고찰을 하여 보았다. 그 결과 그의 교육이념은 원시인들이 그들의 감정을 자연스럽게 표현할 수 있었던 것처럼 어린이들에게 있어 즉흥적으로 스스로를 표현할 수 있는 창조적인 능력을 키워 주고자 하는데 있으며 기능적인 면에 치우쳤던 재래의 교육방법에서 어린이들 스스로의 즉흥적인 표현능력을 키워 주지 못했던 점을 개설하여 다음과 같은 독특한 방안으로 마련된 Schulwerk를 만들고 있다는 사실을 알게 되었다. 1. Orff-Schuwerk는 어린이들 스스로의 자발적인 음악표현이 가능하도록 쉽고 친근한 동요나 민요에서부터 아주 짧고 쉬운 형식에서부터, 또 제한된 음계나 화성에서 시작하여 점차 단계적으로 발전되도록 나뉘어져 있는 어린이를 위한 참된 교육 프로그램이다. 2. 감정 표현을 개발하고 음악성을 함양할 수 있는 멜로디적인 요소와 리듬을 강조하는 초보적인 연습은 기본적인 동작고 결부시켜 음악자체만이 아니라 말, 동작, 춤이 하나로 연합된 기초적인 음악으로 다루고 있어 어린이들 스스로가 그들 자신의 음악을 표현할 수 있는 힘을 개발시키도록 만들어져 있다. 3. 어린이들에게 맞게 특별히 고안한 음악적인 악기를 사용하여 어린이들이 손쉽게 연주할 수 있도록 오스티나토와 불돈기법으로 작곡되어 있으므로 어린이들이 자신감을 가지고 흥미있게 악기를 연주하면서 동시에 음악작품 활동에 능동적으로 참여하게 하여 그 자신의 음악적인 체험을 통해서 음악에 관한 기초를 터득하게 된다. 4. 모방연주나 즉흥연주의 체험을 통하여 자기자신의 표현방식을 발견하고 자발적이고 즉흥적인 음악 표현을 하도록 모든 교재가 어린이들의 관점에서, 그들의 생활중심에서 쓰여져 있다. 이와같이 짜여진 Schulwerk 속에 담겨져 있는 음악은 Orff의 철학이나 단계적인 과정 돋특한 방안에 대한 충분한 이해가 없이 재래의 교육방법처럼 재연시키기 위한 기능적인 작품으로 취급되어서는 안되며 어린이 스스로의 창조적인 능력을 개발시켜 나가는 한 방법과 자료로서 쓰여져야 한다는 점 중요하다. 앞으로 우리나라의 교육과정과 여건에 알맞은 자료로서 재구성되어야 하며 그의 교육이념을 반영할 수 있도록 교사 자신의 창조적인 연구와 노력이 필요하다는 점을 말하여 둔다.;This study was mde in order to appreciate Carl Orff's philosophy of music education and Schulwerk approach which are accepted and carried out in Europe, the United States and all over the world. The source of selecting this subject stems from my desire that this should provide a basic musical materials to the musical teaching technics of our country. First of all, study was made on Orff's career as a composer and a music educator, and on the process how Schulwerk could be made and spread out all over the world. And also the contents in Schulwerk was analyzed on a musical aspects, while a literary research was investigated in an attempt to understand his conception of education and unique method. Carl Orff claims that a true music education should be associated with developing children's improvisational creative ability, just as primitive men expressed their feelings so naturally. As a compensation for the traditional music teaching methods which put a great proportions on the instrumental technics and less on the creativity, he conceived a new peculiar means, or Schulwerk designed for cultivating children's potential creativity step by step. Orff-Schulwerk is a series of the graded music education programs, composed of simple familiar nursery rhythems and folk songs with the restricted scale and harmony, through which children can gradually develop their musical expression voluntarily. An attempt to exploit children's expression of their feelings, and musical ability was made through elementary practice of melodic element and rhythm connected with speech, movement and dance as well as with music. Schulwerk is characterized by ostinato and bordun technique played by the instruments especially designed to suit children's taste so that it leads children to participate in the activity of musical making and spontaneously acquire musical foundation through their musical experience on their own. All efforts were averted to make children find their inherent way of impromptu and voluntary musical expression through the experience of the imitative and spontaneous improvisation. All teaching materials are, theerefore, written from the child's point of view. The musics of the Schulwerk can't be dealt as the coincidence with conventional ones charateristic of reiteration without sufficient understanding of Orff's peculiar method of gradual process and his philosophy. It is concluded out that Schulwerk is a good precious material and a new way to make children develop their potential musical creativity for themselves, and that the further studies on the part of each of the teachers are required to rearrange it to our educational circumstance and apply it for our children.
