夢遊錄體의 寫實性 硏究

Abstract

The literary style of "Mong Yu Rok", (one of the Korean Classics, Mong Yu means sleep-walking and ROK means documentary record) is one of the chiness literary styles, which had been developed with its typical characteristics during the early period of Yi-dynasty and before and after its two wars, war of Japanese Invasion in 1592 and war of Manchu Invasion in 1637. There have been various studies on Mong-Yu Rok among which most of them attempt to define this style as one of genre. As a result, Mong-Yu-Rok style has been widely recognized as a teachable genre, but Its status in literature is not clarified yet. This comes from the lack of clear defintions on genres in the whole Korean literature. Nevertheless, it is wrong to leave Mong-Yu Rok style undefined in our history of literature. Here, this study starts researching the position of Mong-Yu Rok style in Korean history of literature by examining its relation with Sil Hak, Korean's provitism in 16th century. The examining objects are ten classical works identifyied by past studies as written with Mong-Yu Rok style. That is, Dae Gwan Je Mong Yu Rok (大觀齊夢遊錄), Won Saeng Mong Yu Rok(元生夢遊錄), Geum Saeng Yi Mun Rok (琴生異聞錄). Dal Chun Mong Yu Rok (달천몽유록), Pi Saeng Myeung Mong Rok (皮生冥夢錄), Kang Do Mong Yu Rok (江都夢遊錄), Geum Wha Sa Mong Yu Rok (金華寺夢遊錄), Sa Su Mong Yu Rok (泗水夢遊錄), Bu Byeuk Mong Yu Rok(浮碧夢遊錄), An Being Mong Yu Rok(安憑夢遊錄). And yet, the dominant factors of Mong Yu Rok style were composed of historical events and confucianism. In above two factors, historical events were characterized in one group of works and Confucianism was especially emphasized in the other group of works. And so, the works representing historical events were showing reappearance of certain historical Affairs while the other works emphasizing Confucianism expressing realization of some ideologies. Therefore, in this study, the former group of work is called "reappeared Mong Yu Rok Style" and the latter "realized Mong-Yu Rok Style." Since the structural characteristic of Mong-Yu Rok style lies in 'representing the historical events' or in 'travelling to another world' through dream, the style was seemed from the first to have certain commonness with the realism of Dante's Divine Comedy which Auerbach once pointed. And Mong-Yu Rok style Is analysed from the realistic point of views through comparing with Devine Comedy. In searching for certain realities which Mong-Yu Rok style has, however, through the style reveals the teachable socialistic realism as a characteristic in its content, there isn't any outstanding model leading social changes, and therefore cannot be categorized as realistic literature. Besides that, the rising of one principal slogun from Sil Hak movement to search truth based on fact made Mong-Yu Rok style's double structure through dream somewhat unreal by contrast and finally let it collapse. One the other hand, the writer's purpose of each work has been analyzed as one of external elements of that style in this paper; the writers of reappeared Mong-Yu Rok style' tried to reveal the facts and writers of realized Mong-Yu Rok style' tried to realize their empty theoretical ideals. These factual elements contributed to form the Mong-Yu Rok style in the course of being transmitted from the objective documenting style, i.e., the fabled biographical form of the precedent generation and of accepting the confuctianistic practical view-point. The Mong-Yu Rok style was collapsed by the social changes and influence of the Sil Hak, but the attempts to reveal the facts that can be seen in 'reappeared style' and the perceptive ability to recognize literature as fiction in 'realized' remained in the Sil Hak literary tradition, and became a main cause of forming its three sect's realistic literature.;夢遊錄體는 李朝 初부터 壬·丙 兩亂을 前後로하여 하나의 類型的 特性을 띠고 發展한 漢文學 樣式이다. 旣存의 夢遊錄體에 대한 대부분의 硏究에서는 夢遊錄體를 한 장르로 設定시키려는 의도하에서 다각적인 照明이 있었다. 그 결과 夢遊錄體를 敎述장르로 인정하는 폭은 넓어졌으나, 文學史에서 몽유록체의 위치 규명은 아직 되어 있지 않고 있다. 이것은 國文學 전반에 걸쳐 장르의 定立이 되어 있지 않은 데에서 연유한 것이다. 그렇다고 夢遊錄體를 文學史 속에 그냥 방치해 둘 수 없는 상황이다. 이리하여 本 稿는 文學史에서 夢遊錄體의 위치를 밝히기 위한 기본적인 모색으로 夢遊錄體와 實學派文學과의 관련하에서 연구를 進行시켰다. 硏究 대상 作品은 旣存의 硏究 結果, 현재 夢遊錄體로 인정되고 있는 10個 作品, 즉 「大觀齊夢遊錄」, 「元生夢遊錄」, 「琴生異聞錄」, 「달천몽유록」, 「皮生冥夢錄」, 「江都夢遊錄」, 「金華寺夢遊錄」, 「泗水夢遊錄」, 「浮碧夢遊錄」, 「安憑夢遊錄」, 等이다. 그런데 夢遊錄體의 주요 구성 요인이 時代精神인 儒敎의 理念과 歷史的 事件으로 되어 있었다. 이들 구성 요인 가운데에서 특히 歷史的 事件이 강조되어 있는 作品群이 있었으며, 또 儒敎의 이념이 강조되어 있는 作品群이 있었다. 그리고 이들 類型의 特性은, 歷史的 事件이 강조되어 있는 作品群은 事件의 再現으로, 儒敎의 理念이 강조되어 있는 作品群은 理念의 實現으로 나타나 있었다. 이렇게 나타난 類型的 特性에 따라, 前者의 作品群은 '再現的 夢遊錄體', 後者의 作品群을 '實現的 夢遊錄體'라 本 稿에서는 이름하였다. 먼저 夢遊錄體의 구조상의 특징에서, 꿈의 額子를 通한 '歷史性의 再現'과 '他界로의 旅行'이라는 점이 아우얼바하(Auerbach)가 주장하는 단테의 리얼리즘과 공통성을 갖고 있어, 夢遊錄體를 「神曲」과 대비시켜 리얼리즘의 측면에서 조명할 근거를 마련하였다. 그리고 夢遊錄體의 리얼리즘 요소를 찾는 과정에서 夢遊錄體의 內容上의 특징인 敎述性이 社會主義리얼리즘 性格을 띠고 있으나, 社會변동을 주도할 강력한 曲型을 내세우지 못하여 몽유록체가 리얼리즘 文學으로 成立하지 못하는 한 원인을 파악하게 되었다. 또한 이 과정에서 實事求是의 實學의 擡頭로 夢遊錄體의 꿈을 通한 二重構造는 그 리얼리티에 있어서 설득력을 잃게되어 급기야는 樣式上의 붕괴를 초래하게 된다는 사실도 發見하였다. 한편으로 作品 外的 사항과 비교해본 결과, 여기에서 드러난 夢遊錄體 作者의 志向은, '再現的 夢遊錄體'에서는 사실의 糾明에 있었고, '實現的 夢遊錄體'에서는 空理的 儒敎의 理想을 實現시킨 데에 있었다. 이러한 사실적 요인들은 前代의 假傳體에서 寓言의 客觀的 記述方式인 敎述性의 傳統을 이어받아서 夢遊錄體의 時代精神인 儒敎의 實踐的 側面으로 受容하여 夢遊錄體의 類型을 이루었던 것이다. 그러다가 社會변동과 實學의 영향으로 夢遊錄體의 樣式은 붕괴되지만 '再現的 夢遊錄體'에서의 事實의 糾明 부분과 '實現的 夢遊錄體의 文學의 虛構에 대한 認識은 後代의 實學派文學으로 傳統이 이어져, 實學派리얼리즘文學을 형성하는 한 요인이 되는 것이다.
