한국여성잡지의 성담론에 나타난 성-권력관계 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 대중매체로서의 한국 여성잡지에 나타난 성담론을 성이 해방된 결과라고 여기거나, 가부장제 혹은 자본주의 이데올로기를 따라서 성의 불평등 구조를 반영하고 성억압을 재생산하는 기제라고 단언하는 주장에 대해서 의문을 제기한다. 오히려 여성잡지의 성담론은 지식의 의지를 동인으로 하여, 제도적인 실천들 즉, 교육·의학·인구학적 실천들이 성담론에 관여한 결과 산출한 성에 관한 진실을 산출하고, 그것을 대중들에게 전달함으로써 성에 대한 규범을 구성, 강화하고 있는 것으로 보인다. 이에 본 연구는 '권력-지식-성'을 연관지어 "권력이 성의 형태를 창조한다"고 주장한 푸코의 이론을 배경으로 하여 한국 여성잡지의 실천적 성담론을 분석하고, 성담론에 개입하는 권력의 다양한 기술이 무엇이며, 이로인해 성에 관해 구성된 규범이 무엇인가를 밝히고자 한다. 이과 같은 인식하에서 제기한 연구문제는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 한국여성잡지에서 성은 이렇게 담론화되고 있는가? 둘째, 한국사회에서 성담론의 출현조건에 개입하고, 성담론이 기능하는데 참여하는 제도적 실천들은 무엇인가? 세째, 한국여성잡지의 성담론에 육체의 훈육을 위해 구성하는 성에 대한 진실은 무엇인가? 구체적인 성담론의 분석은 한국여성잡지사를 세 시기로 구분하고, 성담론이 발생하는 국지적 발원지를 자녀들의 성, 여성의 성, 부부의 성, 일탈적 성으로 분류함으로써 진행하였다. 연구의 결과를 문제제기에 따라 서술하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 한국 여성잡지의 성담론에 대한 분석에서 성담론이 시간이 지남에 따라 제한되기보다 오히려 증대하는 선동의 기제에 종속되어 왔으며 또한 성담론의 주내용이 행위의 문제에서 욕망자체의 문제로 변화하고 있음을 확인했다. 둘째, 고대로부터 금기시되어오던 성이 어린이의 특수한 성적 욕망을 목표로 하는 교육의 축, 여성에 고유한 성적생리를 목표로 하는 의학적 측, 마지막으로 자연발생적이나 계획된 출산 조절이 목표인 인구학의 축을 따라 진실의 쟁점으로 성립됨으로써 성의 과학화가 구축되고 있음을 보았다. 세째, 성담론이 성에 관해 구성한 진실은 한마디로 성적욕망의 산출이라고 말할 수 있다. 즉, 육체에 대한 자극, 쾌락의 증대, 담론에의 선동, 지식의 형성등을 통해 법적이고 규범적인 혼인장치를 와해시키고 쾌락과 강도 높은 감각인 성적욕망을 산출, 확산시키고 있다고 보아야 한다. 이상적 결과들을 볼 때, 본 연구는 한국여성잡지에서 실천된 성담론은 지식의 의지를 동인으로 하여 권력과 성이 서로 얽혀 주변적 성적욕망들을 담론화함으로써 구성한 성에 대한 진실을 사회체(corps social)표면에 분산, 정착시키는 장이라고 보아야 한다.;This study questions the proposition that discourses on sexuality, as a massmedia, should be regarded as the result of the emancipation of sex, that discourses reflect the unequal structure of sex under the patriarchism or capitalistic ideology and are the mechanism of reproduction of sexual oppression. On the contary, it is rightly to be regarded that discourses on sexuality in women's magazine, by dint of will to knowledge and institionalpractices' (educational, medical, populational) involvementin discourses, compose and reinforce the truth about sexuality, while it produce the truth about sexuality and transfer it into populars. So, this study analyzes the practical discourses on sexuality in Korean women's magazine in view of Foucault's theory that propose, by interconnecting power - knowledge - sex, "power prcduces the form of sexuality", and explain "what is the different tfchnique of power", so, "what is the norm composed concerning sexuality". With those concerns, the issues of this study are as follows 1. What is the way in which sexuality is put into discourses in Korean women's magazine. 2. What are the institutional practices which involve the apperance condition of discourses on sexuality and engage the functioning of discourses on sexuality. 3. What is the truth about sexuality that is composed, for displines of body. by discourses on sexuality in Korean women's magazine. To solve these problems, Sin-Gajung and Yo Song Dong-A were selected as researching materials, and the analytical period was devided into three, and local source in which discourses on sexuality are produced was classified into children's sexuality, women's sexualtiy, couple's sexuality, deviational sexuality. The result based on the analysis can be summarized as follows 1. It is confirmed that discourses on sexuality, far from undergoing the process of restriction, have been subjected to the mechanism of increasing incitement, that the principal contents of discourses on sexuality have been transformed from action problem into desire problem itself. 2. It is observed that the scientific treatment of sexuality is constructed, as sexuality, being tabooed until now, turned into the issuse of truth along the educational axis which goals the special sexual desire of children, along the medical axis which goals the women's unique sexual physics, along the populational axis which goals the regulation of birth. 3. It is rightly said that the truth about sex, composed by discourses on sexuality, is the production of sexual desire. In other words, it is said that they, by the stimulation of body, increasement of pleasurer, invocation of discourses, formation of knowledge, undermine the legal and normative alliance deployment, produce and disseminate the sexual desire in higher degrees. Therefore, discourses on sexuality which are practiced in women's magazine should be understood as the fields in which power and sexuality, by dint of will to knowledge, are interweaved and put peripheal sexual desire into discourses, to disseminate, settle the truth about sexuality in the surface of corps social.
