TV 과학 프로그램의 활용 실태와 개선 방안에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 자연과 TV프로그램의 활용 실태와 TV수업에 대한 의견을 조사하고, 효과적인 프로그램 활용 방안을 모색해 보고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 전국 37개 교육방송 시범학교 중 26개교의 4,5,6학년 교사들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하여 총 118개의 설문지를 분석하였다. 아울러 교육공학 또는 교육방송 전공자로 하여금 ′89학년도 1학기에 방송된 총9편의 프로그램을 시사·평가하도록 하였다. 조사결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 자연과 TV프로그램은 조사대상 학교 교원들 대부분이 활용하고 있었으며, 수업에 직접적인 도움을 주고 있다고 응답하였다. 또한 TV프로그램은 학생들의 과학적 이해를 도와주기 위하여 활용하고 있다는 반응을 보였다. 둘째, 프로그램을 사전 검토하거나 프로그램 활용을 위한 학습지도안 작성 등 교사들의 준비 과정은 미비한 것으로 나타났다. 이는 프로그램의 목적, 내용, 실험 방법, 보충해야 할 사항 등을 사전에 준비해야 함을 생각할 때 개선되어야 할 점으로 지적된다. 셋째, 자연과 TV프로그램은 학생들에게 과학적 이해를 도와주고 있으며, 구체적인 내용, 자료를 제시함으로써 과학에 대한 흥미를 높여 줌을 알 수 있었다. 넷째, 자연과 TV프로그램의 목표 및 주제, 구성(짜임새), 시청 학생의 수준에 대한 고려, 자료 제시 방법, 그리고 제작상의 우수성 등 5개 영역의 평가에서 모두 긍정적인 반응을 보였으나 시청 학생의 수준에 대한 고려, 제작상의 우수성에 대한 평점은 상대적으로 낮게 나타났다. 마지막으로 교육공학 및 교육방송 전공자의 프로그램 모니터링 결과는 프로그램 목표와 내용의 타당성, 자료 제시 방법에서 차이를 보여 프로그램의 우수성에서 편차가 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이상과 같은 설문조사에 따라 다음과 같은 개선방안을 추출하였다. 첫째, 프로그램 활용을 위한 교사들의 사전 준비가 철저히 이루어져야 할 것이다. 이를 위해 교육방송 활용을 위한 효과적인 연수 제도가 폭넓게 실시되어야 하겠다. 둘째, 지역별 자연과 TV프로그램에서 다루어야 할 내용에 대한 요구도가 다르므로 방송을 전제로 하지 않은 VTR용 자료가 개발되어야 하겠다. 즉, 도시 학생을 위한 동·식물의 관찰에 대한 내용과 농·어촌 학생을 위한 실험, 실습 내용을 담은 패키지 프로그램이 개발, 보급되어야 할 것이다. 셋째, 프로그램 제작자와 교사들의 유기적인 협조 관계가 형성되어 제작진의 제작 의도가 학교 현장에 반영되고, 현장의 프로그램에 대한 요구가 제작시에 반영될 수 있는 장치가 마련되어야 하겠다. 넷째, TV프로그램의 효과적인 활용을 위해서는 교육 현장에 TV와 VTR기재의 비치가 선행되어야 하겠으며, 다양한 양질의 VTR테입에 대한 보급체제가 적절하게 마련되어야 하겠다.;The purpose of this study was to find out current status of utilization of TV programs in science education in selected primary schools and t o explore ways and means for improvement of utilization of TV programs in science education. A questionnaire survey was made t o 118 teachers of 4th, 5th, and 6th grades in 26 educational TV demonstration schools out of total 37 schools and their respondses were analyzed. In addition, 9 sciences programs were monitored by graduate students majoring educational technology and the results were also analyzed. Following are the results of the study: 1. Most teachers responded that they use TV programs in teaching science as they are directly helpful their science instruction in classroom They also indicated that TV programs helps students understand better the science education. 2. The result shows that teachers lack effort in preparations prior to use of TV programs. To make TV program effective teachers must study the program before use it in classroom. 3. It was found that science TV programs facilitate students' understanding and arouse their interest in science as they present details content and materials. 4. The result shows that teachers are positive in their attitude in five factors : objective and content, structure, consideration on students, presentation of materials, and quality of production. On the other hand, their attitudes were less positive on 'consideration on students and production quality than other the result of factors. 5. Lastly graduate students evaluation of TV programs showed wide variations in quality of TV programs monitored. Following conclusions are drawn from the study. 1. Above all teacher preparations should be prerequisite to effective use of TV in classroom. Effective inservice teacher training is needed to improve utilization TV in science education. 2. It is recommended that a package VCT programs must be developed to meet the specific needs of students in different settings. For urban students programs on animal and plant and for students in rural areas programs on laboratory setting would be more effective respectively. 3. In order to make TV program more effetive, program production staff must collaborate with teachers in planning and production of TV programs from the early stage of production since teachers needs must be reflected in production of education programs. 4. Finally, in order to make effective use of TV program the school classrooms must be provided with TV sets and VTR equipment and distribution system for good quality video tapes should be developed.
