Abstract
Science can be said as the study that investigate and express the natural phenomena through man's system of thought, and has two faces of characteristics. The one is the knowledge that has logical systems, and the other is the process of inquiry that produce the systems of the theories. The knowledge or theories can be changed, but the methods of inquiry and the begotten scientific attitudes have a eternality in the nature of those. The purpose of this study is to introduce a proposition that leads a scientific logical thinking method and a creative attitude of true science education, through investigations of the characteristics of natural science course learning, and then researches of the degree of concern or the learning attitude about the subject of natural science according to sexual differences. A questionnaire against the junior high school students of third year in Seoul-city was used to obtain relevant data, and the results compared and analyzed according to sexual difference are as follows: 1. The peculiarity of natural science study was said to be in its strict systemity and in the experiments focused on inquiry process, which should be considered enough to education plans. 2. In the extent of interest and pride about the subject and the positivity to the experiments, male students were somewhat supiorior to female students, otherwise, in the aspects of consciousness to the necessity and value of science male students were rather negative. 3. In the degree of being interested and regarding difficulty a according to the fields of science, male and female showed evident differences, and harmonious studies about the four fields of course do not accomplished, which is the problem to the developments of basic natural science in out country. 4. By means of simultaneous study of another subjects which have effects on the science course, the processes of some relevant education among subjects, especially with mathematics, should be conducted, besides the inbalance according to sexual difference of the subjects of technology and domestic economics should be reformed. 5. Scientific attitudes and though patterns should be fully developed through the processes of being interested and motivative to the inquiring experiments during the period of junior highschool when it is important for the chose of future major or course. The differences according to sexes compared in this study is somewhat native, but is not fixed definitely, rather derivative from the forces habitual thinking patterns that regard traditional literary courses as supiorior, woman as undaequate and unable. And when the habit of these though pattern is amended, good substancial advancements in science education of our country can be anticipated, and in present class courses the process of inquiry should be supported rather than the pursuit of scientific knowledge for the rearing of scientific attitudes. In this study the junior highschool students' scientific learning attitudes was investigated, from the aspects of the significance of scientific attitude, that is, the formation of attitude once formed does not disappear easily. And some proposals to the future judgements about attitude was presented. But there remains an assessment, beyond the analysis to the attitudes by the questionnaire, of searching for the method that is more objective and scientific upon the basis of using some direct interview tests or check lists.;우리나라 중학교 과학교육의 목표는 자연에 접하면서 과학에 대한 관심과 기초 소양을 갖게 하여 사고력의 신장과 탐구기능, 자연에 대한 흥미와 과학적 태도를 기르는데 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 과학과목 학습의 특수성을 살펴보고, 서울시내 중학교 3학년 남·여학생을 대상으로 하여 과학과목 학습에 대한 흥미와 분야별 선호도 및 과학학습 태동등을 설문조사하여 성차(性差)에 따라 비교 분석함으로써 과학적 태도의 중요성을 인식하려는데 있다. 설문지에 응답한 남학생 212명, 여학생 214명 총426명의 자료를 비교·분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 과학과목에 대한 흥미도와 학습에의 자신감은 남학생들이 여학생들보다 다소 높았으며, 과학분야로의 진출 희망정도도 높았다. 2. 여학생들은 실험학습시 소극적이며, 자신의 실험결과를 다른 학생들과 비교해서 수정하는 경향이 많았으나, 실험학습시 안전성에 대한 높은 인식을 나타냈고 실험기구의 정리등도 남학생들보다 좋은 태도를 지니고 있었다. 3. 과학의 네가지 분야(물리·화학·생물·지구과학) 별 선호도와 난이도가 분야별로 차이가 심한 상태로 나타나서, 네 분야가 균형있게 조화되어야 하는 기초과학 육성의 문제점으로 나타났다. 4. 과학과 학습에 가장 많은 도움을 주는 교과는 수학이며, 남·녀가 분리해서 배우고 있는 기술·가정과목중 기술과목에 대해서 남학생들은 과학과 학습에 도움을 준다고 느끼고 있으나, 여학생들은 가정과목이 과학과 학습에 거의 도움을 주지 않는다고 느껴서 과학과 학업성취도에 있어서 성차를 나타내주는 중요한 요인 중의 한가지로 지적된다. 5. 과학적 사실에 대한 비판력과 과학에 대한 가치부여등은 남·녀학생 모두가 아직 미비한 상태이며, 과학과 학습의 필요성에 대한 인식은 매우 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이상의 분석 결과에서 중학생 시기가 진로탐색의 적기라고 보면, 위에서 다루어진 문항의 성차에 따른 차이들은 고정적이거나 선천적인 관념은 아니며 오랫동안 지속되어진 사회적 인식의 소산이라고 보여지고, 과학적 태도는 영속적인 것이므로 올바른 태도의 확립과 평가방안의 모색이 필요하다고 하겠다.
