한국 가톨릭 성가의 현황에 대한 고찰

Abstract

한국 가톨릭 성가의 바람직한 발전에 도움이 되기 위하여 한국 가톨릭 성가의 구성 및 선곡경향을 조사하였다. 가톨릭 교회 음악의 정의 및 한국의 가톨릭 성가의 발달사를 통해 한국 가톨릭 성가의 현 주소를 파악하고, 현재 보편적으로 사용되고 있는 「가톨릭 공동체의 성가집」과 「가톨릭 성가」를 대상으로 편집상황 등을 조사했다. 전체 성가 중 국내 창작곡이 차지하는 비율이 「가톨릭 공동체의 성가집」의 경우 31%, 「가톨릭 성가」의 경우 47%를 차지하고 있어, 그 발간연대를 고려할 때 점차 그 비율이 증가함을 알 수 있었다. 서울의 명동, 혜화동, 불광동, 난곡동, 봉천동, 연희동, 대방동, 시흥동 등 8개 천주교회에서 사용하는 성가를 조사 대상으로 하여 1985년 1월부터 12월까지 1년간의 성가 선곡 상황을 조사함으로써 전체적인 성가 선곡 경향을 추정하려 했다. 「가톨릭 공동체의 성가집」의 경우 전체 550곡 중 288곡이, 「가톨릭 성가」의 전체 528곡 중 268곡이 1년 동안 대상 교회 모두에서 단 한번도 선곡되지 않았고, 「가톨릭 공동체의 성가집」중 52곡, 「가톨릭 성가」 중 47곡 만이 지나치게 빈번히 선곡하여 현재 한국 천주교회의 선곡상의 편중성을 나타내었다. 또한 이들 99곡 중 22곡 만이 한국인 작곡가에 의한 것으로서 전체적인 구성비율보다도 훨씬 작았다. 한국인 작곡가에 의한 곡의 계속적인 증가가 요구되는 한편 선곡상의 지나친 편중성도 지양되어야 한다. 이를 만족시키기 위한 방법으로서 한국인의 감정과 더욱 일치되는 곡들의 창작 및 수록이 바람직하다.;The compilations of Korean Catholic hymnals are investigated for the favorable development of Korean Catholic hymns. The definition of Catholic church music and the history of Korean Catholic hymns are briefly reviewed in order to understand the present state of Korean Catholic hymns. 'Hymnal of Catholic Association' and 'Catholic Hymnal', which are most widely used in Korea, were chosen for this study. The proportion of Korean composers' hymns is 31 % in the former and 47 % in the latter. This explains the increase of this pro-portion, when the dates of their editions are considered. The eight Catholic churches in Seoul diocese, i.e., Myung-dong, Hyewha-dong, Bulkwang-dong, Nankog-dong, Bongchun-dong, Younhee-dong, Daebang-dong, Shihung-dong, were selected for the statistics of popular hymns in Korea. The weekly orders of service of the above mentioned churches were gathered and analyzed from Jan., 1985 till Dec.. 1985. The 288 hymns of out of total 550 hymns in 'Hymnal of Catholic Association', and the 268 hymns out of total 528 hymns in 'Catholic Hymnal', have never been selected for the above mentioned terms. And the 52 hymns out of the former and the 47 hymns out of the latter, were preferentially selected. It can be easily grasped that the selection of hymns in Korean Catholic churches is excessively discriminating. Among the preferentially selected 99 hymns, only 22 hymns are of Korean composers'. It is needed that the hymns of Korean composers' should increase and this discrimination of hymns selection should be avoided. In order to suffice these necessities, it is desirable to compose and compile the Korean Catholic hymns more appealing to the emotions of Koreans.
