한국 기독교 노년기 여성의 죽음에 대한 이해와 교육적 과제

Abstract

본고의 목적은 한국 교회에서 출석 노인의 대다수를 차지하고 있는 노년기 여성들을 대상으로 그들이 임박한 죽음에 대해서 어떻게 생각하고, 어떻게 느끼는지 살펴보고 그에 대한 기독교 교육적인 방법 모색을 목적으로 한다. 노년기에 대한 이해는 보통 성인의 이해와 같지 않다. 또한 다른 세대에 대한 교육은 어느 정도 행해지고 있는 반면 노년기 세대는 더 이상 교육의 대상에 포함되지 않으며, 주체가 되지 못하고 잊혀진 세대로 남아있다. 그런데 그러한 노년기 중에서도 여성은 남성과는 또 다른 특성을 가지고 있다. 또한 남성과 다른 특성을 가진 노년기 여성을 위한 교육은 더욱 더 소외 받고 있는 실정이다. 본고에서는 기독교 노년기 여성들의 죽음에 대한 이해를 살펴볼 것이다. 죽음에 순서가 있는 것은 아니지만 다른 세대에 비해서 가장 죽음에 대한 임박성을 느끼고 있다고 생각되었기 때문이고 교회 안에서도 노년기 여성들이 많은 비중을 차지하고 있기 때문에 연구대상으로 삼게 되었다. 먼저 노년기 여성에 대한 일반적인 이해를 신체적, 심리적, 사회 문화적 특성으로 나누어서 살펴보고, 죽음에 대한 일반적인 이해와 노년기 여성의 죽음에 대한 이해를 파악하려 한다. 그리고 기독교에서는 죽음에 대해 어떻게 이해하고 있는지, 기독교의 죽음이해를 살펴보도록 하겠다. 또한 한국 기독교 노년 여성들은 죽음에 대해 일반적으로 어떤 이해를 하고 있는지 아래의 가설을 검증하는 방법으로 살펴보도록 하겠다. 1. 한국 기독교 노년기 여성은 대부분 죽음에 대해 긍정적인 태도를 가지고 죽음을 수용하고 있을 것이다. 2. 이러한 죽음에 대한 태도는 종교, 생활 만족도, 자신의 건강평가, 불안도, 자신의 지나온 생의 평가, 미래전망 등에 따라서 유의한 차이가 있을 것이지만 그중 종교적인 면이 가장 많은 영향을 미칠 것이다. 3. 교회 생활을 하면서 경험하게 되는 성도들의 죽음(교우의 장례식 참여, 또는 병원심방 등)이 본인의 죽음에 관한 생각에도 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 것이다. 4. 이에 교회에서 직접적으로 시행되고 있지는 않지만 죽음에 대한 교육이 필요할 것이다. 이러한 가설을 검증하기 위해 아래의 설문을 실시하였다. 1. 죽음에 대한 인식여부: 1문항 2. 죽음에 대한 인식 정도: 2문항 3. 죽음을 두려움으로 느끼는 이유: 2문항 4. 죽음에 대한 토의 방법 및 대상: 2문항 5. 교회 생활에서 죽음(장례식 경험등)에의 참여여부: 1문항 6. 기독교(신앙생활)가 죽음에 대한 태도에 미치는 영향: 2문항 7. 개 교회의 노인들을 위한 프로그램 유무: 1문항 8. 교회에서의 죽음준비 교육의 필요성: 1문항 9. 본 조사도구에 대한 반응: 1문항 가설의 검증을 위한 설문을 살펴보고, 또한 10명의 기독교 노년기 여성으로 심층 면접을 실시하여 기독교 노년기 여성의 죽음에 대한 이야기를 좀더 깊게 살펴보았다. 그리고 그 결과에 따라 개 교회에서 죽음준비교육의 필요성과 기독교 교육적 방법 모색을 해 보았다. 본고를 통해 현재 한국 기독교 노년기 여성들이 어떻게 죽음을 이해하고 있는지, 또한 개 교회에서는 어떤 부분을 감당할 수 있는지에 대한 바람직한 모델을 제시할 수 있을 것이라고 생각한다. ; This thesis has two objects : To look into women in old age who takes a large majority in Korean church, how they think about their time is drawing near and how they feel of it and try to find any groping of Christian eduational way for this. Understanding for the old age seems to be not like one for the young age. There seems to be education of other generation in somehow though, education intended for old generation is not included and it is being regarded minority and remained as a forgotten age. Furthermore, the education for the old woman who has different characters from the man is being treated neglectfully. Hereby, I am going to look into the old Christian woman for their understanding of death. There is no certain order for death though, I take it for my subject of my thesis because they feel their time is drawing near the most compared to other generation and old woman takes a large majority at church. First of all let me look into the physical, psychological and socio-cultural characteristics of old woman and general understanding of death and death of women in old age. And I am going to consider how they understand the death in Christianity and the understanding of death in Christianity. I am going to investigate how the old christian woman in Korean church understand the death generally in the way of verify the hypotheses below. 1. In women s old age of Korean christian will have positive attitude for accept their death mostly. 2. Religion, satisfying standard of life, health evaluation of themselves, degree of instability, evaluation of their past life and prospect for their future can affect the attitude of death more or less though, religion can affect most of all. 3. Death of church member(attendance in funeral of fellow believers, a visit to hospital) from church life can influence positively to the thought of death. 4. Therefore, the education for death is needed even it s not in force right now. I investigated questions below to verify the hypotheses. 1. How they recognize the death; 1 Question 2. The attendance at funeral of church life; 2 Questions 6. The influence of christianity for the attitude of death ; 2 Questions 7. The presence of programs at each church for the old ; 1 Question 8. Necessity of education for preparing death at church; 1 Question 9. Response for this survey; 1 Question I looked into the questions for verifying the hypotheses and investigated the questions more further through intense interview with 10 christian women in old age. And I tried to find out the way of necessity of education for preparing death at church and christian way of education according to the result of the investigation. We will see how korean christian women in old age understand their death through this thesis and I believe I suggest the right model to each church what part of task that they can be charged of it.
