중학교 영어 교과서에 반영된 6, 7차 교육과정 비교 분석

Abstract

본 연구는 2001학년도 제7차 교육과정의 적용을 앞두고 신·구 교과서에 대한 분석을 통해 교육과정이 어떻게 반영되고 있는지를 보려고 한다. 즉, 그동안 시행되어온 6차 교육과정은 어떠하였으며 앞으로 반영될 7차 교육과정은 기존의 교육과정과 어떤 차별화를 두었는지 비교 검토하여 보고 앞으로의 교육과정 개정의 방향을 제시하려는 것이다. 영어교과서는 교수, 학습 활동이 발생하는 수업과정에서 학습자들에게 직접 영향을 끼칠수도 있고 분석, 평가, 수정할 수 있는 구체적인 대상으로서 그 의미가 매우 크다. 영어 교과서의 개발과 관련, 그 중요성을 상황에 기초한 언어교육 이론 과 의 사소통 이론 으로 고찰한 결과 각 언어 교육은 그 나라의 상황에 맞는 범주에 따라 적절히 구분되어야 하고 의사소통 중심의 교재는 통합적으로 체계있게 구성되어야 한다. 6, 7차 교육과정은 모두 의사소통 중심의 영어 교육을 표방하고 있으나 여전히 외국의 이론들을 많이 답습하고 있어 이 분야에 대한 우리의 이론 정립이 필요하다. 6, 7차 교육과정은 형식에는 차이가 있으나 내용상의 큰 차이는 없다. 다만 7차에서는 총론에서 국민공통 기본 교육과정과 수준별 교육과정을 도입했으나 이것들이 교과서 상에 반영된 것은 찾아보기 어려웠다. 언어기능과 의사소통 기능이 교과서에 어떻게 분포되어 있는지 분석한 결과 언어기능은 7차 교과서에서 보다 통합적이고 다양한 문항들이 눈에 띄게 많아졌다. 의사소통 기능에 있어서는 감정표현과 문제해결 관련 기능의 항목의 비율이 7차에서 높아졌으며 친교활동과 정보탐색 문항의 배율은 줄어 학생 중심의 창의적인 문항의 개발이 이루어 졌음을 볼 수 있었다. 이러한 내용을 바탕으로 영어 교과서와 관련된 발전 방안으로 제시할 내용들은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 영어 교육학 분야에서 교과서 분야에 대한 보다 체계적이고 이론적인 체제 마련이 필요하다. 둘째, 총론에서 추구하는 바를 교과서상에 반영해야 한다. 셋째, 우리나라 현실에 맞는 교과서 분석항목이 체계적으로 만들어져야 한다. 넷째, 교육과정이 바뀔 때마다 특별한 내용의 변화가 있지 않는 한 정기적인 교과서 전면 대개편은 문제가 있다. 다섯째, 교과 교육과정이 개발된 이후에도 교과서와 교육과정에 대한 지속적인 평가작업이 필요하다. 앞으로 7차 교육과정이 보다 효과를 거두기 위해서는 영어과 교육과정과 교과서에 대한 분석이 보다 활발하게 논의되어야 할 것이다. ; The principal purpose of this thesis is to view how the 6th, the 7th curriculums are reflected in the textbooks in our middle school. This is, it is to view how the 6th curriculum was, the 7th will be, and what is the differentiation between two curriculums. Viewing it clearly can be a good guidance to complete to make the rest of the book and the things for the next curriculum. And school textbook is a sole direct effective material in the course of the study as one that can be analyzed, tested, and corrected. Concerned the development of the English text books, the English education should be more classified based on each country s situation, and the communication-centered textbooks should be developed more systematically. Both the 6th and the 7th curriculums are ahead for the communicative way of teaching and learning. But both the curriculums are based on the other developed countries , and this reflects that we are demanded make our own theoritical basis. In the 6th and the 7th curriculum, there is some differentiation in the paper form, but no other special differentiation in their contents. Also in the 7th curriculum, they accepted two big ideas; a must-learn course for all people and the leveling-course, but it s also so difficult to find the detailed contents in the text books. In the 6th and the 7th curriculum, after analyzed how well the language and communicative functions are reflected in the text books, the language function is changed a little, but the communicative function is shown to be improved with the more integrated and various contents. Especially emotion-expression and trouble-solution part are increased, while intermacy and information-Q&A part decreased in the 7th curriculum compared with the 6th.. Based on the analysis so far, there would be some suggestions like below. First, it is necessary to make a more classified and theoritical basis in the English education study. Second, the general principles of the national curriculum should be reflected more on the details and textbooks. Third, the category of the analysis should be made more systematically. Fourth, the new edition along with the revision of the national curriculums every time is not so desirable. Fifth, the continuous evaluation on the curriculum and the text books is demanded even after the curriculum and text books are published all. To make the new curriculum effective, more classified analysis on the English curriculum and text books should be followed for a better situation of learning and teaching.
