어머니의 사회적 지지체계와 양육 스트레스에 따른 유아의 사회적 능력

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 어머니를 대상으로 양육행동을 통해 나타나는 양육 스트레스를 알아보고 이를 어머니의 사회적 지지체계와 유아의 사회적 능력과의 관계속에서 고찰해보는 것이다. 이와 같은 연구목적에 따라 다음과 같은 연구문제를 설정하였다. 1. 어머니의 양육 행동에 관련된 스트레스의 정도는 어떠한가? 2. 어머니의 양육 스트레스와 어머니의 사회적 지지체계의 관계는 어떠한가? 3. 유아의 사회적 능력은 어머니의 양육 스트레스 정도에 따라 차이가 있는가? 본 연구의 대상은 수도권에 위치한 사립 유치원 두 곳에 다니고 있는 만 5세 반 유아들 132명과 그들의 어머니들이다. 연구도구는 모두 3가지 종류로 2가지는 어머니용 질문지였고, 1가지는 교사용 질문지였다. 어머니용 질문지는 두가지 내용으로 구성되어 있는데, 그 하나는 양육행동과 관련된 스트레스 정도를 파악하기 위한 것이고, 다른 하나는 어머니의 사회적 지지체계를 알아보기 위한 것이다. 그리고 교사용 질문지는 유아들의 사회적 능력을 알아보기 위한 내용으로 되어있다. 수집된 자료는 평균과 Pearson 상관관계 분석, 그리고 t-검증을 실시하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 어머니는 양육 스트레스에 영향을 미치는 요인들 중, 부모-유아간 역기능적 상호작용 영역에서 가장 많이 양육 스트레스를 받는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 어머니가 자녀를 수용하는 문제, 자녀의 행동이나 언어에 강화를 주는 문제, 그리고 자녀와의 상호작용으로 인한 부정적인 지각때문에 가장 많이 양육 스트레스를 받는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 어머니의 사회적 지지체계와 어머니의 양육 스트레스간에는 유의미한 상관관계가 있었다. 먼저 지지구조의 경우를 보면, 지지제공자가 제공하는 지지에 대해 어머니가 만족하는 정도, 어머니 자신이 지지제공자와 유사하다고 지각하는 정도, 그리고 어머니와 지지제공자들과의 지리적 거리와 어머니가 느끼는 양육 스트레스간에는 유의미한 상관관계가 있었다. 또한 지지를 제공하는 사람들이 서로 알고 지내는 비율과 어머니가 지지제공자를 친밀하다고 지각하는 정도도 어머니의 양육 스트레스와 유의미한 상관관계가 있었다. 뿐만 아니라 지지기능의 경우를 보면, 어머니가 느끼는 ‘정서적 지지’, ‘정보적 지지’, ‘물질적 지지’, ‘평가적 지지’는 모두 어머니가 느끼는 양육 스트레스와 유의미한 상관관계가 있었다. 셋째, 어머니의 양육 스트레스가 낮은 집단의 유아들이 높은 집단의 유아들보다 사회적 능력이 높게 나타났다. 이상의 연구 결과를 종합해 보면, 어머니의 양육 스트레스는 사회적 지지체계를 통해 양육 행동에 영향을 미치고, 이는 다시 유아의 사회적 능력에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. ; The purpose of this research was to investigate the mother s parenting stress under the considerations of mother s social support networks and her own child s social competence. For this investigation the following questions were adopted: 1. How is the level of stress related to mother s parenting behavior? 2. What are the relationships between mother s parenting stress and the mother s social support networks? 3. Are there any differences in children s social competence according to the mother s parenting stress? The subjects of this research were 132 five years old children of two kindergarten and their mothers. Three kinds of questionairs were used for this research. Two questionairs were designed to find out mother s parenting stress-level and social support networks. And the other one questionair was for finding the children s social competence by kindergarten teachers. The compiled data were analysed by average, Pearson s correlation analysis, and t-test. The obtained results are summarized as follows: First, what effects parenting stress the most was the parent-child dysfunctional interaction . That is, mothers are most stressed when they encounter issues such as mother s acceptance of her child, restricting child s behavior and language usage, and acknowleging negative perceptions born from interaction with her child. Second, there are some significant interrelationships between mother s social support networks and the mother s parenting stress. There are some significant interrelationships between satisfaction , relativity , distance in supporting structure and mother s parenting stress. Also, density and familiarity are significantly concerned to parenting stress. Next, significant interrelationships were also observed between mother s parenting stress and all of supporting functions including emotional support , informational support , material support and appraisal support . Third, the children with low-level of mother s parenting stress showed significantly higher social competence than those with high-level. In conclusion, mother s parenting stress was found to affect the parenting behavior through the devotion of social support networks, and this parenting behavior succesively influenced children s social competence.
