국어 어휘 지도 방안 연구 : 중학교 국어를 중심으로

Abstract

어휘 사용 능력 신장을 목표로 하는 국어교육에서 어휘 교육은 상당히 중요한 부분을 차지해야 함에도 불구하고, 교육과정 및 교육현장에서는 그 위상이 제대로 평가되지 않았다. 본고는 이러한 상황에서 어휘를 가르치는 의의 및 가능성을 탐색하고 그 속에서 어휘 지도의 방법을 고찰해 보았다. 그 결과 국어교육 내에서 어휘 교육은 독자적인 가능성을 지니고 있음을 확인하였으며, 그 가능성을 실현하기 위해 모국어 화자의 어휘 사용 능력을 향상시킬 수 있는 어휘의 양적 확대를 중심으로 질적 확대를 보완해 가는 방향을 구체화하였다. 2장에서는 어휘력의 중요성을 인식하고 어휘지도의 목표와 내용 설정이 필요함을 언급했다. 이를 근거로 교육과정과 현장 수업, 학생들의 어휘 학습 현황을 중심으로 어휘 교육의 문제점을 분석해 본 결과 어휘력의 중요성에 대한 인식 부족, 비체계적인 어휘 교육, 도구적 관점에 의한 지도의 편향성을 지적할 수 있었다. 현재 국어 교육 과정에 어휘 교육을 위한 별도 시간이 할애되어 있지 않으며 교과서에 지도 어휘 목록이나 지도 방안이 제시되어 있지 않음을 고려해 현장에서 부분적으로 적용하거나 변형 가능한 어휘 지도의 다양한 방안을 제시하고자 했다. 구체적인 어휘 지도 방안 제시를 위해 기존에 사용하던 사전 이외에 전자사전이나 컴퓨터 소프트웨어, 인터넷, 시각자료 등의 보조자료 활용이 가능함을 먼저 언급했다. 특히 학생들의 적극적 참여 유도와 국어 정보화의 단면을 접하게 하고 인터넷 등을 이용한 어휘력 평가의 가능성도 제안했다. 모국어 화자를 학습 대상으로 하는 국어과에서 이들의 언어 사용 기능 신장을 위해서는 어휘의 양적 확대가 우선되어야 하므로 국어의 어휘 구조를 중심으로 한 지도 방안을 제시했다. 국어학의 어휘론 연구를 근간으로 하는 단어 형성 원리 이용과 의미 관계 이용이 그것이다. 기본적인 틀은 각각의 용어에 대한 개념을 살피고 그에 따른 목표와 지도절차로 구성하였다. 지도절차 적용에는 앞서 언급한 보조자료를 적절히 이용하도록 하였으며 빙고게임이나 인터넷 채팅, 모둠별 게임 등으로 학생들의 호기심을 유발시켰다. 교사가 학습 어휘를 제시하거나 학생들이 모르는 어휘를 선별해 해당 단어의 구조나 의미 영역에 따라 형태소를 분석해 보거나 다른 형태소와 결합시켜 보는 방법, 의미가 유사한 단어나 반대되는 단어 등을 떠올리는 과정에서 학생들의 어휘 체계를 확산시킬 수 있다. 파생어나 합성어, 유의어 등의 지도 방안으로 다양한 지도 절차를 제시함으로써 각기 다른 학교나 학습자 수준을 고려해 교사의 재량 하에 적절히 변형시켜 응용할 수 있게 했다. 이런 과정들을 통해 학생, 교사에게 어휘력에 대한 중요성을 인식시키고 향후 학교 이외의 공간에서 새로운 어휘를 접했을 때 보다 적극적으로 수용하고 인지할 수 있는 전략을 세워 줄 수 있으리라 여겨진다. 이상의 방안들은 현 교육 현상이나 교과서, 교육 과정의 문제점이 다각도로 지적되고 있는 상황에서 창의적이고 체계적인 어휘 지도 방안에 대한 방향을 제공할 수 있을 것이며, 실제 교육에 적용되었을 때 학습자의 언어 사용 기능을 한층 높이는 데 기여할 것이라 기대된다.; Vocabulary has not been estimated properly in the curriculum and the National Charter of Education, even though it should take an important part of the education of national language. In this manuscript, I have researched for significance and possibility of teaching vocabulary and considered the ways of guiding vocabulary in them. In the result, I could confirm that the education of vocabulary had its unique possibility. Advancing quality of vocabulary was needed by increasing numbers of it to improve native speaker s vocabulary for actualizing this possibility. For this, I have mentioned that recognizing importance of vocabulary, goal and establishing contents of guiding vocabulary are needed. As I took it as the basis, in the result of analyzing problems of the education of vocabulary in the course of study, actual lesson and status of students studying vocabulary. I could indicate the short of recognizing the importance, the unorganized education of vocabulary and propensity of guidance by taking vocabulary as a tool. So in this manuscript, I was trying to show various devices of guiding vocabulary which can be partly applied and changeable, considering missing guiding principle, no contents of vocabulary which should be guided in the textbook and no spared time for the education of vocabulary in the present curriculum of the national language. Especially, it showed the way to make students easily learn new vocabulary when they encounter them at higher grade or outside the school by guiding it from the 7th grade when is the time that they get to learn more abstract noun. And it was shown that there is possibility of using support material like dictionary, visual data and media for presenting of specific ways of guiding vocabulary. it has cleared up various applications of dictionary and electronic dictionary by using them not only to find out what words mean, using them to look up words transformation and examples. Also in the usage of visual material, it has clarified that vocabulary can be more clearly understood and memorize for long time by showing them pictures and captured images of it at a same time. Guiding vocabulary by using computer, CDs and Web sites for example, can make students to participate it more aggressively. And computer has great potential to be a good method of guiding vocabulary because they get to know an aspect of information-oriented society and their vocabulary can be tested conveniently through internet. Because someone who learns the national language are mostly native speakers, expanding vocabulary should come first to improve the ability of applying it. So it has offered guiding scheme about vocabulary structure depends on the national language. And they are the usage of word-forming principle and usage of relationship between meanings. The basic frame is organized with judging concepts of each word, its goal and guiding procedure. prior to apply guiding procedure, support material which I mentioned was properly used and students curiosity was induced from bingo, chat and games in groups. In the reality of present education and existing problems from textbook and the course of study, referred devices will offer original and organized ways of guiding vocabulary. I expect them to contribute to improve learner s vocabulary when they are actually used in education. From now on, there should be continuous and scientific experiments and research about making contents of essential vocabulary by grade and specific method of guiding vocabulary like foreign language for more efficient education of vocabulary.
