글 없는 그림책 활용이 유아의 언어구성능력 및 창의성에 미치는 효과

Abstract

본 연구는 유치원 교실에서 자유선택활동 시간에 글 없는 그림책 빨간 끈 활용이 유아의 언어구성능력 및 창의성 신장에 어떠한 효과를 미치는지 알아봄으로써, 유치원 교육에 있어 유아의 창의성 개발에 적절한 교수자료를 제공하고자 하는데 목적을 둔다. 본 연구의 목적에 따라 다음과 같은 연구 문제를 설정하였다. 1. 글 없는 그림책 빨간 끈 을 활용한 유아의 활동이 언어구성능력 신장에 효과를 미치는가? 2. 글 없는 그림책 빨간 끈 을 활용한 유아의 활동이 창의성 신장에 효과를 미치는가? 2-1) 글 없는 그림책 빨간 끈 을 활용한 유아의 활동이 유창성 신장에 효과를 미치는가? 2-2) 글 없는 그림책 빨간 끈 을 활용한 유아의 활동이 독창성 신장에 효과를 미치는가? 이와 같은 목적을 달성하기 위하여 본 연구에서는 1998년 7월 6일부터 1998년 10월 23일까지 전라 남도에 소재한 J유치원 5세 유아 42명을 연구 대상으로 하여, 1주일에 3회씩 32회에 걸쳐 연구자가 구안한 글 없는 그림책 빨간 끈 활동 프로그램을 실시하였으며, 실험 전 후에 사전 사후 검사를 함으로써, 언어구성능력과 창의성의 변화를 측정하였다. 본 연구에 사용한 도구는 이경우(1998)의 글 없는 그림책 빨간 끈 과 연구자가 구안한 활동 프로그램, 한국 행동과학연구소(1973) 제작 정지자(1983)가 선행검사시 사용한 유아 언어능력 검사 이며, 조성연(1985)이 번안한 Torrance의 창의성 검사 이다. 수집된 자료는 채점 및 부호화 과정을 거쳐 SPSS/PC+를 이용하여 분석 처리하였고, 집단간 유아의 언어구성능력과 창의성 및 하위 요인인 유창성, 독창성의 차이를 알아보기 위해 t검증을 하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 글 없는 그림책 빨간 끈 을 활용한 실험집단이 활용을 하지 않은 통제집단보다 언어구성능력 점수가 높게 나타나 집단간 유의미한 차이를 보였다. 이러한 결과는 글 없는 그림책 빨간 끈 활동이 유아의 언어구성능력에 긍정적인 효과를 미침으로써 언어구성능력이 신장되었음을 알 수 있다. 둘째, 글 없는 그림책 빨간 끈 을 활용한 실험집단이 활용하지 않은 통제집단보다 창의성 총점과 하위요인인 유창성, 독창성 점수에서 높게 나타나 집단간 유의미한 차이를 보였다. 즉, 실험집단의 창의성 총점에 있어서도 의미 있는 신장을 가져왔으며, 하위요인별로 점수 차를 검증한 결과 유창성 요인과 독창성 요인 모두 의미 있는 신장을 보였을 뿐만 아니라, 특히 독창성 요인의 신장 효과는 매우 크게 나타났다. 본 연구 결과를 통하여 유치원 교육 과정에서 자유선택활동 시간을 통해 글 없는 그림책 빨간 끈 을 활용한 통합적인 활동을 전개함으로써 언어구성능력 및 창의성을 개발시킬 수 있음이 밝혀졌다. ; The present study investigates the effects of Red String, a wordless picture book on the growth of kindergartners verbal construction ability and creativity during free choice activities. By doing so, it intends to provie appropriate teaching materials for the educators of young children. For the purpose of the study, the investigator asks the following research questions : 1. Do activities designed for Red String have influence on the development of kindergartners verbal construction ability? 2. Do activities designed for Red String have influence on the development of kindergartners creativity? 2-1) Do activities designed for Red String have effect on the development of kindergartner fluency? 2-2) Do activities designed for Red String have effect on the development of kindergartner originality? Using Red String(Lee, 1998), the investigator designed total 32 lessons that spanned 10 week period(3 times a week) from July 6 to October 23 of 1998. Participants were 42 kindergartners with mean age of 5 from J kindergarten located in South Cholla province. In order to measure the change in verbal construction ability and creativity, two assessment tools were used : Test of Verbal Ability of Young Children(Korean Behavioral Science Research Center, 1973 & Chung, 1983) and Torrence Test of Creative Thinking(Cho, 1985) SPSS/PC program was used to compute scoring and encoding process, and T-verification was used to analyze changes in verbal construction ability and creativity. Changes in subordinate skills between groups were also analyzed through T-verification. The major finding are summarized as follows: 1. Experimental group(Red String was used for this group) scored higher on verbal construction ability than control group(Red String was not used for this group). The difference between the two groups was statistically significant. This result explains that the activities designed for Red String positively influenced on the development of verbal construction ability. 2. Experimental group scored higher on both fluency and originallty than control group. The difference between the two groups was also statistically significant. That means that experimental group exhibited greater increase on creativity T-verification showed that there was significant increase on both fluency and originality with greater increase in originality. Based on the research findings, the investigator concluded that kindergarten curriculum that used Red String, a wordless picture book can develop verbal construction ability and creativity in kindergarthers.
