고등학교 독서교과 지도 연구

Abstract

21세기를 일컬어 정보화 시대라고 부른다. 개인이나 단체가 정보를 확보하고 활용하는 능력에 따라 그 집단의 잠재력이 결정된다는 뜻이다. 이러한 정보의 대부분이 언어로써 축적되고 소통되기 때문에, 현재 사용되는 언어 정보력이 그 무엇보다도 중요한 때가 되었다. 언어를 기록으로 남길 수 있는 방법을 가진 인간만이 인류의 번영을 가져올 수 있었음을 이미 많은 학자들은 말하고 있다. 인간은 기록된 내용을 통해 간접적인 체험을 하고, 지식을 축적할 수 있으며, 이성과 감성을 단련시킬 수 있다. 인류의 문화는 기본적으로 기록에 의해서 창조, 전승, 발전 되어 왔다고 해도 과언이 아닐 정도다. 그러나 인간의 정신적 자산이 아무리 훌륭하고 풍요롭다 할지라도 우리가 그것을 정확하게 해독하지 못한다면 아무런 가치를 가질 수 없다. 잘못된 독서는 오히려 인간에게 해만 끼칠 뿐이다. 올바른 독서, 참다운 독서가 필요한 것은 바로 이러한 이유 때문이라고 본다. 무엇보다도 독서의 힘을 키우기 위해서는 독서의 본질과 가치에 대해서 알고, 독서의 원리와 방법을 익히며, 폭넓은 독서 경험을 쌓아야 한다. 본 연구에서는 가능한 한 추상적인 이론중심의 학습은 탈피하고 고등학교 ‘독서’교과 중심으로 실제적인 응용에 초점을 맞추어 보았다. 학습자로서의 독서뿐 아니라, 성인이 된 후에도 적용 가능한 실용적 전략에 기반을 두고자 모색했다. 독서의 개념을 독자가 글로부터 의미를 구성해 가는 고등수준의 지적 작용이라고 정의 하고, 심리적 과정에 기초한 상호작용 모형을 중심으로 텍스트 중심 모형, 독자 중심 모형, 텍스트-독자 상호간의 모형을 이론적 배경으로 제시 하였다. 다음으로는 7차 교육과정에서 독서교육의 의의와 독서지도의 문제점, 방향등을 살펴 보았다. 6차 교육과정에 이어 국어과 하위영역의 선택 과목으로 선택된 ‘독서’의 현재 위치와, 독서 교육의 중요성에 대한 인식을 지적해 보았다. 이를 받침하기 위해 현장의 교사, 학습자들을 상대로 독서 실태 조사와 독서전략 적용 조사를 병행하였다. 설문조사가 가지고 있는 작위적이고, 수동적 답변의 한계점을 감안해서, 질문에 객관적인 요소를 내포하도록 하였으나 ‘독서’ 자체가 가지고 있는 주관적 자질로 인해, 설문답변의 분석이 난해한 부분이 있음을 토로한다. 또한 이들을 적용하여 독서 지도 전략과 적용을 제시하도록 하였다. 이러한 전략과 적용은 독서교육이 나아가야할 방향인 내면화된 과정중심의 독서교육, 전략중심의 독서교육, 평생 독자로서의 독서교육, 통합적인 독서 교육을 설정하고 이들을 토대로 해서 구체적인 보완점을 살펴보았다. 예비적 독서전략에는 예측하기, 배경지식 활용하기, 질문하기를 통해 적극적으로 독서에 참여하는 태도를 지향했으며, 분석적 독서전략에서는 텍스트 활용하기, 질문 만들기, 관점 바꾸기 등을 활용해서 구체적이고도 집중적인 독서지도를 시도했다. 통합적 독서 전략 에서는 거시적인 독서 방법을 기초로 해서 독서물을 총체적으로 활용할 수 있는 방법을 모색해 보았다. 본 연구의 모형은 고등학교 ‘독서’에 대한 대안모색에서 출발하여, 책을 읽는 모든 독자로 하여금 ‘유목적적 독자’, ‘독립적인 독자’가 되도록 하는 데에 중점을 두고 그 방안을 모색했다. 평생 책을 머리맡에 두고, 독서의 즐거움을 알며 살아가는 다양한 독자층들 이야말로 많은 연구자들의 힘이 아닌가 한다. 본인 또한 독자들이 평생 동안 독서하는 즐거움에 조금이나마 도움이 되기를 기대해 본다.;Reading is consisted of three elements : the text itself, the author and the reader who read the text. With the beginning of 90s, it is more obvious that studies on reading guidance have became more detailed both in quality and quantity. Those alternative plans are, however, leaving something to be fulfilled in applying practical spots. From the period of 6th national curriculum which contained concrete 'reading' programs were effective to now, both seeking the method using 'reading textbook' and study of its effectiveness are absolutely insufficient. This study ultimately proposes application on practical scene ; furthermore, it also focuses on applied strategies which everyone is capable to employ for their enjoyable reading habits throughout their lifetime. The concrete studies are as follows. On chapter 2, relationship of 7th national curriculum and reading classes is described. First of all, recently emerging reading guidance models based on reading concept and its theories are introduced. Secondly, both analysis of reading textbook under the 7th national curriculum and problems of reading guidance program are pointed out. Even though 7th national curriculum has been much richer in its research than 6th one, but still much more tries are required since the term is not long enough yet. Thirdly, survey of practical reading guidance programs in spots is presented from the view of both students and teachers. It is also focused on not only investigating actual conditions of reading education in the scene but the needs of students and teachers as well. On chapter 3, teaching strategies of reading classes and its applications are described based on the prior survey. For the models of teaching strategies of reading, there are three division ; preparatory reading strategy, analytic strategy, and finally integrative strategy. The application test of reading guidance program had been done by 140 exclusive students strongly focusing on its objectivity and comprehension. From the fundamental result of chapter 2, strategies that complement students' weak area are emphasized, and that helps further studies stems from students' reaction are deeply considered. For the last, both analytic and alternative points of these tests are presented. Thanks to the nature of written characters, text adds its depth and width more and more. There must be a lot more efforts of researchers for better understanding of text, again there would be the world for deeper comprehension and impression.
