그림책을 활용한 토의 활동이 유아의 정서지능과 마음이론 발달에 미치는 영향

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 정서지능 요소와 마음 이론 요소가 포함된 그림책 토의 활동이 유아의 정서지능과 마음이론 발달에 미치는 영향을 알아보는데 있다. 이를 바탕으로 유아의 정서지능과 마음이론 발달을 효과적으로 이끌 수 있는 교수 학습 방법을 모색하고자 한다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위한 연구문제는 다음과 같다. 1. 그림책을 활용한 토의 활동이 유아의 정서지능 발달에 영향을 미치는가? 2. 그림책을 활용한 토의 활동이 유아의 마음이론 발달에 영향을 미치는가? 본 연구는 서울시 강서구에 위치한 A 유치원, B 유치원에 재원 중인 만 5세 유아 각각 20명씩 총 40명을 대상으로 하였다. 각 집단은 정서지능 요소와 마음이론 요소가 포함된 그림책을 활용한 토의 활동을 실시하는 실험 집단, 그림책만 대집단으로 읽어주는 활동을 실시하는 비교 집단으로 나누었다. 연구 도구는 유아의 정서지능을 측정하기 위하여 Goleman(1997)이 제시한 정서지능의 요소를 기초로 김경회(1998)가 개발한 '교사용 유아 정서 지능 평정 척도'를 사용하였고, 유아의 마음 이론 이해 수준을 파악하기 위해 전형적인 틀린-믿음 과제(false-belief task)를 사용하였다. 틀린-믿음 과제는 Wimmer와 Perner(1983)가 고안한 위치이동 과제와 Perner, Leekam과 Wimmer(1987)가 고안한 내용교체 과제를 송정(2007), 윤복희(2011)가 수정・보완한 것을 사용하였다. 정서지능, 마음이론 발달 검사를 사전, 사후에 실시하여 수집된 자료는 평균과 표준 편차를 산출하고 독립 표본 t검증을 실시하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 제시하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 정서지능 요소와 마음이론 요소가 포함된 그림책을 활용한 토의 활동을 실시하는 것이 유아의 정서지능 발달에 긍정적인 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 정서지능의 하위 요인인 자기정서의 이용, 타인정서의 인식 및 배려, 자기정서의 인식 및 표현, 감정의 조절 및 충동억제, 교사와의 관계, 또래와의 관계의 모든 영역에서 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 정서지능 요소와 마음이론 요소가 포함된 그림책을 활용한 토의 활동을 실시하는 것이 유아의 마음이론 발달에 긍정적인 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 마음이론 과제 중 내용교체 과제에서 나타났으며, 마음이론 전체 과제에서 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 결과는 정서지능 요소와 마음이론 요소가 포함된 그림책을 활용한 토의 활동이 유아의 정서지능과 마음이론 발달에 유의한 영향을 미쳤음을 시사한다.;This study investigated the factors that the influence the development of children's emotional intelligence and theory of mind by applying discussion activities on the basis of selected of emotional intelligence and theory of mind. For that purpose, the following research questions were set: 1. What is the impact of group discussion activities using picture books young children's emotional intelligence by applying discussion activities on the basis of selected of emotional intelligence and theory of mind? 2. What is the impact of group discussion activities using picture books young children's theory of mind by applying discussion activities on the the basis of selected emotional intelligence and theory of mind? The targeted subjects for this study were 40 children, all of which were five years old, and were from two different classes of 2 different kindergarden located in Seoul and Gangseo-gu in western Seoul. The children discussion activities were divide into tow group : the experimental group which performed the discussion activity on the basis of picture books which contains elements of emotional intelligence and theory of mind, the comparison group which read the picture books which contains elements of emotional intelligence and theory of mind. The children in the experimental group were given discussion activities with the application of 12 pictures books that contain elements of emotional intelligence and theory of mind, and the children in the comparison group read those picture books. The application effect of discussion on children were analysed with the analysis of t-test. The results of this study are as follows: First, the positive effects of the discussion activity with the application of picture books containing the elements of emotional intelligence and theory of mind were found to improve children's emotional intelligence. This effects was shown in all sections of the emotions focusing on self-awareness, self -management, self-motivation, empathy, and social skills. Second, the positive effects of the discussion activity with the application of picture books containing the elements of emotional intelligence and theory of mind were found to improve children's the theory of mind. This effect was shown in the content exchange of theory of mind. The above result in the study suggests that appropriate selection of picture books containing the various elements of emotional intelligence with the reflection of children's desire, emotion, and the elements of theory of mind that reflect intentions of people, emotion, thine sg, desire, can improve the development of children's emotional intelligence and theory of mid.
