2009 개정 고등학교 『한국사』의 ‘발해의 대외관계’ 내용 개선 방안

Abstract

This study was initiated from an awareness of the need for modification and issues of description on the textbook dealing with Korea history that was derived from procedures of the modification for recently implemented education curriculum. This way, here suggests a measure that can resolve structural and contents related issues in the history text book that was briefly dealt with and distorted in the 'foreign relations of the Balhae' among regions in the field of foreign relation with an importance of the goal of Korean history for high school education. Balhae did not leave any of records or remarks that there is a limitation of research for not being able to proceed it in the light of people who have lived in Balhae back in the days. This means that an indirect way of research is only available via comparison study of records left by surrounded countries where have been led political, economical, and cultural exchanges with Balhae. However, history textbook always reflects a perspective of view of an author that all the records left by surrounded countries were most likely utilized to study on Balhae in the light of other countries. Furthermore, history textbook that reflects historical flow and trends back in the days and systemizes records is currently reduced in terms of its volume but is biased as to contents. Hereupon, this study was proceeded with three steps. First of all, a preliminary examination was conducted in order to lay a theoretical foundation for measure identification and textbook analysis. 'Foreign relations of Balhae' was classified into Silla, Dang, and Japan that arranged a trend of researches via document oriented study. Chapter goals and contents structures that were suggested in the modified education curriculum in the year of 2009. For the next, the textbook was analyzed based on the examined contents. Textbook analysis was proceeded with three subjects of Silla, Dang, and Japan just like an arrangement of research trend. Textbook analysis was conducted based on aforementioned research trend in the academics and contents from modified education curriculum in the year of 2009 and its structures. For the last, a measure of improvement was suggested in order to complement issues derived from the textbook analysis, and a paradigm in the form of textbook was additionally suggested. Hereupon, articles or historical records related to 'foreign relations of Balhae' as well as description of the text were suggested, including simple activities for enhancement of thinking skills. This study is intended for students to aware the proactive perspective of Balhae as for the study on 'foreign relations of Balhae' and to give an understanding of the relations with surrounded countries in the same context of results occurred in international environment.;본 연구는 최근 시행된 교육과정 개정의 과정에서 도출된 고등학교『한국사』전근대사의 교과서 서술상의 문제와 수정의 필요성을 깊이 인식하는 것에서부터 시작하였다. 고등학교『한국사』의 목표 상으로 그 중요성이 드러난 대외관계 영역 중 ‘발해의 대외관계’를 중심으로 단편적이고, 소략하게, 왜곡되게 제시하고 있는 역사교과서의 구성상 ‧ 내용상의 문제점을 개선할 수 있는 방안을 제시하고자 하였다. 발해는 스스로 기록을 남기지 않았기 때문에 당시 발해의 영토에서 발해인으로 살았던 사람들의 시각으로 연구가 진행될 수 없다는 태생적 특징이자 한계가 있다. 발해의 역사는 당시 발해와 정치적 ‧ 경제적 ‧ 문화적으로 교류를 해왔던 주변국이 남겨 놓은 기록들의 비교연구를 통해 퍼즐조각 맞추듯 접근할 수밖에 없다는 것이다. 하지만 역사서란 항상 역사가의 견해와 생각이 고스란히 남게 되기 마련이므로 기록을 남긴 타국의 입장에서 발해를 바라보고 그들의 상황에 유리하게 쓰일 수밖에 없다. 더구나 그 시대 역사적 추이를 반영하고 기억을 제도화하는 역사교과서에서는 여전히 발해의 대외관계를 양적인 면에서는 소략하고 내용적인 면에서는 편중되게 싣고 있는 실정이다. 이에 본 연구는 3단계로 진행이 되었다. 우선 교과서분석과 개선안 모색을 위한 이론적 토대를 마련하기 위해 기본적인 검토를 진행하였다. ‘발해의 대외관계’를 신라 ‧ 당 ‧ 일본의 큰 카테고리로 나누어 문헌연구의 방법을 통해 연구동향을 정리하고, 2009 개정 교육과정에서 제시된 단원목표와 내용체계 정리가 그것이다. 다음으로 검토된 내용을 토대로 교과서를 분석하였다. 교과서분석은 연구동향 정리와 마찬가지로, 신라 ‧ 당 ‧ 일본과의 관계라는 세 주제를 기본으로 하여 각각 본문내용서술과 교수-학습활동을 분석하였다. 교과서분석은 앞서 언급한 기본적 검토인 학계 연구동향과 2009 개정 교육과정의 목표와 내용체계를 근거로 하여 진행하였다. 마지막으로 교과서분석에서 도출된 문제점들을 보완하기 위해 개선방안을 제시하였으며, 추가로 교과서 형태의 모형을 제시하였다. 여기에서 본문내용 서술뿐 아니라 ‘발해의 대외관계’와 관련된 사료 및 삽화가 제시되었고, 학생들의 사고력 신장을 위한 간단한 활동이 포함되었다. 이를 통해서 본 연구는 학생들로 하여금 ‘발해의 대외관계’의 학습에 있어서 발해의 주체적인 시각을 인식하고, 발해를 둘러싸고 일어났던 주변국과의 관계가 당시의 국제상황 속에서 발생한 동적인 결과임을 맥락적으로 이해할 수 있도록 하였다.
