청소년의 비속어 사용 현상 연구

Abstract

최근 청소년의 언어생활이 큰 사회적 문제로 대두되었으며 이에 대한 기성세대의 우려의 목소리가 커지고 있다. 청소년의 비속어 사용은 과거에도 문제점으로 지적되었지만, 요즘과 같이 심각한 사회적 문제로 다루어지지 않았다. 이는 과거에는 소수의 특정 그룹 학생만이 거칠고 비속한 말을 사용하였지만 요즘은 특정 그룹에 상관없이 대부분의 학생들이 무분별하게 거칠고 비속한 말을 사용하고 있기 때문이다. 이 때문에 기성세대는 청소년 언어를 해결해야 할 ‘나쁜 말’이라 판단하고 교육과 계도를 통해 문제를 해결해야 한다고 본다. 그러나 교육과 계도만으로 청소년 비속어 사용을 개선하기에는 한계가 있다. 청소년의 비속어 사용에 대한 무조건적인 부정과 비난의 시각에서 벗어나 그들이 실제 어떠한 비속어를 사용하고 있는지, 또 어떠한 이유에서 그러한 비속어를 사용하는 지에 대한 구체적인 파악과 이해를 바탕으로 하여 개선 방안을 모색해야 한다. 이에 본 연구는 청소년의 비속어 사용을 청소년 언어문화의 하나로 보고 그들의 언어문화를 이해하고자 한다. ‘청소년의 비속어 사용 현상’을 실질적으로 파악하기 위하여 녹음조사를 실시하였으며 이를 통하여 실제 의사소통 상황에서 비속어의 구체적인 사용양상을 파악하였다. 또한 인터뷰 조사를 통해 비속어 사용에 대한 청소년들의 인식 정도 및 태도까지 함께 살펴보았으며 이러한 조사 결과를 바탕으로 하여 청소년의 비속어 사용의 개선 방향을 제안하고자 하였다. 먼저 II장에서는 사회언어학적 차원에서의 청소년 언어에 대해 살펴보았다. 청소년 문화와 청소년 언어에 대한 이론을 살펴 그 개념과 특성을 정리하였으며 청소년 언어 연구 중에서 청소년의 비속어 사용을 주제로 한 연구에 중점을 두고 각 연구의 의의와 한계를 정리하였다. 그리고 비속어 분석에 앞서 국어 분석적 차원에서 비속어, 은어, 욕설의 개념과 특성을 정리하여 본 연구의 비속어 기준을 제시하였다. III장에서는 녹음 조사를 통해 수집한 대화 자료를 바탕으로 청소년의 비속어 사용 양상을 파악하였다. 먼저 비속어 어휘를 분석하여 유형 및 빈도를 파악하고 그 어휘들을 다시 품사별로 분류한 뒤 특성을 분석하였다. 그리고 청소년의 비속어 사용의 특성을 보다 구체적으로 살펴보기 위하여 대화 장면에 초점을 두고 대화 참여자와 배경의 특성을 고려하여 대화의 목적에 따라 어떠한 비속어 사용 양상의 특성이 나타나는지 분석하였다. IV 장에서는 III장의 분석 결과 자료를 토대로 하여 인터뷰를 실시하였다. 청소년언어문화에 대한 보다 실질적인 접근과 이해를 위하여 인터뷰를 진행하였으며 인터뷰를 통하여 청소년들이 비속어 사용에 대한 인식 및 태도를 살펴보고 비속어 사용 개선의 방향을 제시하고자 하였다. 본 연구의 의의는 청소년의 비속어 사용 현상을 하나의 청소년 언어문화로 보고 그들의 언어를 존중하고 이해하며, 청소년의 실제 언어 자료를 토대로 비속어 사용 양상과 청소년의 인식 및 태도까지 구체적으로 분석하여 이해와 공감을 바탕으로 한 청소년 비속어 사용의 개선 방향을 제시했다는 데에 있다.;Language of young people living recently emerged as a big social problem, and for this older generation are growing voices of concern.
