웹 기반 채팅서버를 활용한 수행평가 관리시스템 개발

Abstract

사회적 변화에 따라 교육의 패러다임도 변화하고 있다. 수행평가는 종래 평가의 단점을 극복하고 새로운 대안적인 평가 체제로 도입되었으나, 여러 가지 교육적 가치가 있음에도 불구하고 우리 교육 현실에 맞게 적정화된 시행이 되지 못하여 많은 혼란을 겪었다. 현 시점에서 교육 현장에의 적용 10여년에 도래한 수행평가의 교육적 효과를 고려하여 학교 교육에 실제적으로 도움이 되는 방안에 대해 모색해 볼 필요가 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 웹 기반의 채팅 서버를 이용하여 학습자들 간의 토론 학습의 장을 제공하고, 이에 따른 문제해결 과정을 수행평가에 직접 반영할 수 있는 수행평가 관리시스템을 개발하는 데 목적을 두었다. 수행평가 관리시스템은 교사 지원 서비스로서 시스템 개발 과정은 다음과 같이 진행된다. 첫째, 교사는 채팅식 토론 학습을 활용할 수 있는 수행평가 단원을 선정하고, 수행 목표 및 토론 주제를 정한다. 또한 공정한 평가를 위하여 평가 관점 및 채점기준표를 작성한다. 둘째, 교사는 소그룹별 토론이 진행될 수 있도록 미리 참여자 그룹을 나누고, 토론 주제 및 학습자들이 토론방에 접속할 수 있는 URL 정보를 제공한다. 셋째, 학습자는 문제해결을 위해 미리 공지된 토론방에 접속하여 학습자간 상호 협력적인 온라인 토론 학습을 진행한다. 넷째, 토론 학습이 종료되면 수행평가 담당 교사의 채팅 서버 내에 자동 생성된 로그 파일을 적용하여 수행평가 관리시스템에 반영할 수 있다. 다섯째, 교사는 수행평가 관리시스템에서 학습자들의 토론 내용을 분석하고, 명확한 기준에 따라 평가할 수 있으며, 평가 결과를 학습자에게 피드백하여 교사와 학습자 간의 지속적인 교류가 상호 긴밀하게 이루어지도록 돕는다. 본 논문에서 구현하는 수행평가 관리시스템은 인터넷 커뮤니티 기반의 채팅서버의 장점을 교육적으로 활용하였으며 학교교육 현장에서 보다 쉽게 구현하고 효과적인 관리가 가능한 시스템으로 발전할 수 있기를 기대한다.;Educational paradigms have been changing according to social changes. Performance assessment, which was originally introduced as an alternative evaluation system to overcome the disadvantages of the conventional evaluation, has failed to properly adapt to the reality of education across the country and gone through many turmoils despite its various educational values. It has been about ten years since its introduction, and it is time to search for ways to put it to practical uses for school education by taking its educational effects into consideration. Thus this study set out to provide students with a venue of discussion study by using a web-based chat server and develop a performance assessment management system to reflect problem-solving processes into performance assessment. A service to assist teachers, the performance assessment management system can be developed in the following process: Firstly, the teacher picks up a performance assessment unit that can utilize chat-based discussion study, chooses performance objectives and discussion topics, and makes up assessment perspectives and scoring criteria for fair evaluation. Secondly, the teacher divides the students into participant groups so that discussions can be made in small groups and gives the students the URL information for them to log on to the discussion room as well as discussion topics. Thirdly, the students log on to the announced discussion room for problem solving and engage in cooperative online discussion study. Fourthly, the teacher can apply the log files automatically produced in the chat server once the discussion study is over and reflect them into the performance assessment management system. Finally, the teacher can analyze the students' discussions, evaluate the students according to a clear set of criteria, and give them his or her feedback to promote consistent exchanges between them in the performance assessment management system. The performance assessment management system implemented in this thesis made use of the advantages of an Internet community-based chat server for educational purposes and will hopefully grow into a system that can be more easily implemented and more effectively managed in school.
