미술자료를 활용한 르네상스 시대의 이해

Abstract

미술자료는 학생들의 흥미와 호기심을 유발하고 역사를 가깝고 실감나게 느끼게 할 수 있다는 점에서 역사학습에서 유용하게 활용될 수 있다. 그럼에도 현장에서는 역사학습 자료로서 그 기능을 다하지 못하는 경우가 많은데 이는 현장연구 부족과 비문자 자료로서의 어려움 때문으로 볼 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 이러한 문제를 보완하여 미술자료를 통해 역사를 보다 구체적으로 이해할 수 있는 수업모형을 개발하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 미술자료를 효과적인 역사학습자료로 활용하기 위해서는 교사의 역할이 중요하다. 교사의 역할은 주제선정, 적절한 미술자료의 선정, 그리고 학생들의 주도적인 참여를 이끌어 낼 수 있는 수업구상으로 나누어 볼 수 있다. 우선 본 연구의 주제로는 역사적으로 유의미하면서도 미술자료를 활용하여 시대적 특성을 조망하기에 적절한 르네상스를 선정하였다. 또한 미술자료는 르네상스 시대의 특성을 잘 나타내면서 중학교 교과과정과 연계가 높은 레오나르도 다빈치의 ‘모나리자’, 미켈란젤로의 ‘다비드상’과 ‘천지창조’, 라파엘로의 ‘아테네학당’을 선정하였다. 선정된 자료에 대한 구체적인 정보를 얻기 위해 ‘위대한 예술가’라는 다큐멘터리를 선정하여 활용하였다. 마지막으로 학생들에게 구체적인 활동을 제시하여 미술자료를 활용한 수업이 단순한 감상에 그치지 않고 역사이해라는 본래의 목적에 도달할 수 있도록 지침서 역할을 하는 분석지를 제작하였다. 이렇게 제작된 미술자료를 활용한 역사 수업 모형의 효과성 검증은 전문가 평가와 학생들의 평가지 분석의 두 단계를 거쳤다. 두 단계의 평가 분석 결과 미술자료를 활용한 수업모형이 학생들의 역사이해에 긍정적으로 작용했음을 확인할 수 있었다.;Classical painting works contain many valuable and attention-grabbing elements that can help students study history. Due to the unfamiliarity of non-text material and lack of studies in such kind, however, using the paintings in history classes has not been a widely popular choice. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to develop a teaching method and strategy in which the use of classical paintings can help student better understand the history of the past with more enthusiasm. The effectiveness of this teaching method and strategy requires a certain set of skills from the instructor. The instructor should select appropriate art works according to the lesson objectives. And he/she should also be able to initiate the participation of the students. The art works of choice for this study are "Mona lisa" by Leonardo da Vinci, "Statue of David" and "the Creation" by Michael Angelo, and "School of Athens" by Rafael. The reasons for the selection are as follows. First, they represent the essential characteristics of Renaissance period. Secondly, they are the materials that are often included in middle school history classes. Futhermore, in the attempt of gathering an expert and educational information on these works, I used a documentary films called "The Great Artists". Lastly, I have provided the students with activities that can offer an chance to examine the path of history in relation with the art works we studied. Professional evaluations and student's analysis on evaluation papers were applied to verify the effectiveness of history teaching models applying classical paintings. As a result of evaluation analysis, it was confirmed that the teaching model applying classical paintings made a positive contribution to making students understand history.
