사설 음악교육 기관을 통한 평생음악교육의 실태 조사

Abstract

우리 삶에 있어 교육은 다른 어떤 활동보다도 가치 지향적 이라고 할 수 있으며, 교육의 기능은 사회구조의 변화와 함께 시대적 요구를 반영하며 끊임없이 강조되어 왔다. 정보화·개방화·세계화로 특징되는 현대사회에서 학교 교육만으로는 충족시키기 어려운 교육의 기회들을 생애 전 과정에 걸쳐 확대시키고 연장해 나가야 한다는 요구와 함께 평생교육의 필요성이 대두되었고, 이러한 움직임은 평생학습사회의 출현을 가져오게 하였다. 최근 교육학 동향에서는 평생교육에 관한 관심이 높아져 가고 있으며, 이미 다양한 분야와 영역에서 여러 기관을 통한 평생교육이 이루어지고 있다. 또한 평생교육에 관한 자료의 연구도 활발히 진행되고 있으며, 이러한 맥락에서 평생교육으로서의 음악교육 또한 그 필요성과 중요성에 대해 활발히 논의되어지고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 평생교육에 대한 관점을 음악교육에 접목시켜 평생교육으로서의 음악교육의 실태를 알아보고자 하였다. 본 연구의 목적은 사설 음악교육기관을 통한 평생음악교육의 실태조사를 통하여 학습자들의 인식과 요구사항, 개인적 기대를 알아보고, 평생교육으로서 음악교육의 발전 및 질적 향상의 방향을 모색하기 위한 기초자료를 마련하는데 있다. 본 연구를 위해 사설 음악교육기관 중 하나인 YAMAHA MUSIC SCHOOL을 대상으로 하여, 목동센터·강서센터·코엑스센터 총 세 개 센터에서 수강중인 성인학습자 127명에게 설문조사 연구를 실시하였다. 설문지는 연구 대상에 대한 내용과 수강 프로그램의 실태조사를 위한 내용, 평생교육으로서의 음악교육에 대한 학습자의 인식을 알아보기 위한 내용, 평생음악교육의 발전을 위해 갖추어 져야 할 요구사항과 개인적 기대를 알아보기 위해 크게 네 가지의 범주로 구분하였다. 설문에 대한 응답 결과는 기초통계량을 사용하여 문항별로 빈도와 백분율을 산출하였고, 변수 간 연관성을 검증하기 위해 교차분석의 방법을 사용했으며, 자료의 처리는 SPSS Window 12.0 프로그램을 사용하여 분석하였다. 본 연구를 통해 평생음악교육에 대한 인식을 조사한 결과, 연구대상인 사설 음악교육기관 수강생의 대부분은 평생음악교육으로서의 음악교육에 대한 필요성을 인식하고 있었다. 필요성에 대한 이유로는 삶의 질을 향상시키고 풍부한 감성과 안정된 인격에 도움을 주기 때문이라고 응답하였으며, 수강 동기로는 본인의 자발적 의지가 가장 높게 반영되어 평생교육의 주된 수혜자인 성인학습자의 특성을 나타내었다. 또한 수강 참여자의 과반수 정도는 여건이 허락하는 한 계속 수강하고 싶다는 의지를 보임으로 계속교육의 특징을 지니는 평생교육의 취지에 부합되었다. 평생음악교육의 참여 목적에 대해서는 여가선용을 위한 취미 생활이나 특기를 살리기 위해서라는 응답이 가장 많았으며, 스트레스 해소, 음악적 능력 개발 및 삶의 질 향상, 폭 넓은 교양함양 등의 목적을 가지고 참여하는 것으로 나타났다. 평생교육의 활성화와 체계화를 위한 요구사항 및 평생음악교육을 통한 개인적 기대로 사설 음악교육기관의 수강자들은 다양한 교육기관 마련에 대한 요구를 가장 높게 나타내고 있으며, 수강료 부담의 축소 및 교육방법의 다양화, 다양한 프로그램의 마련과 국비지원 프로그램의 확대 등을 요청하였다. 또한 학습자의 인식 변화와 함께 평생음악교육이 활성화되기 위해서는 홍보의 측면이 확대되어야 한다는 요구도 반영되었다. 이상과 같은 조사결과를 근거로 하여 볼 때, 수강자들은 학습의 수혜자로서 주체적 의식 및 요구사항과 개인적 기대들을 가지고 있으며 수강 참여에 대한 뚜렷한 목표와 목적의식이 수반되어 있는 것을 알 수 있다. 이러한 수강생의 소비자적 입장은 교육의 주체이자 공급자의 입장에 서게 되는 사설 음악교육기관으로 하여금 끊임없는 발전을 요구하게 한다. 교육서비스의 공급자인 사설 음악교육기관은 소비자로서의 학습자의 의견을 수렴하여 보다 나은 학습 환경을 제시하고, 또한 신속하고 능동적인 피드백을 통하여 수강생의 수강 목적에 부합하는 양질의 교육 서비스를 제공하도록 노력해야 한다.;Education is more value-oriented than any other activities in our daily life. Educational function influenced a change in the framework of society, and reflected and emphasized it continually. Three characteristics of the modern society, information, liberalization, and globalization, is turning towards the economic society of knowledge base, which focuses on knowledge and information. This type of reform acquires to learn knowledge-technology to adjust in a social phenomenon. Modern society requests the educational system to improve and extend the opportunities to learn those subjects that school education can not satisfy. The current of the times reared up the necessity of lifelong education. Also, education in music has been an increasing subject of debate for a lifelong education. Purpose of this survey bases on acquiring the personal thoughts, requests and expectations of those who goes to private music education center and on improving the quality of private music education. This survey was based on 'YAMAHA Music School', which contains 127 attendants in the three centers, Mokdong center, Gangseo center, and Coex center. This survey is categorized into 4 different sections, first is the participants' informations, second the is content for research on the actual state, third is the content for recognizing a learner's awareness in music education by lifelong education, last is the requirements for developing lifelong educations and the individuals' expectations. Survey's data was received by using elementary statistics to calculate the frequency and percentage of each questions. Cross tabulation Analysis was used to verify the relationship between the variables, the SPSS Window 12.0 program was used in the process. In the survey of lifelong music education, most students being studied in private music education center acknowledged the necessity of music education in lifelong education. Reasons to this answer are because it increases the quality of life and help to have abundant emotion and stable character. Most of the students were self-motivated and it can be concluded as a character of those adult students in lifelong education programs. Also, more than half of the students showed a will to continue to learn as far as circumstances permit. That coincides with the intent of lifelong education. Majority of the purpose in participating lifelong music education were to make a good use of spare time, to enjoy hobbies, and to improve talent. Secondarily, it was to relieve stress, to develop a musical talent, to improve the quality of life, and to broaden the knowledge of culture. Students in private music education center requested a variety of educational center and wanted organization and activation in lifelong education. Another requests were to reduce the tuition fees, to increase the number of curriculum, to improve supporting of government, and to publicize lifelong music education. On the basis of this survey, students were found to have numerous requests and personal expectations, and to have a clear responsibility for their education. They are the consumers, but at the same time the subject, consistently requesting the development of music education center. Provider of educational service, private music education center, must listen to the opinions of the students as consumers, work to better the environment, and try to provide the utmost quality of educational service which conforms with students' purpose for taking the class quickly and actively.
