The Helton class of operators and Rank one perturbations of the unilateral shift

Abstract

We study the Helton class of operators and rank one perturbations of the unilateral shift. First, we study some properties of the Helton class of operators. In particular, we study the Helton class of operators which have the single valued extension property. We show that the members of the Helton class of nilpotent operators are nilpotent and the Helton class preserves the finite ascent property and the power property. Also we investigate some connections between local spectra under the relations of the Helton class. Finally, we show that the property $(\beta)$ is preserved under the relations of the Helton class and the nilpotent perturbation of such relations. Second, we study some properties of rank one perturbations of the unilateral shift $T=S + u\otimes v$. In particular, we show that $T-z$ is one-to-one on ${\cal{O}}(D,H)$ where $D$ is any domain containing $0$. Also we give some criteria for eigenvalues of $T$. Finally, we characterize some conditions for rank one perturbations of the unilateral shift to be hyponormal and investigate some properties of the commutant of rank one perturbations of the unilateral shift.;이 학위 논문에서는 작용소들의 Helton class와 unilateral shift의 rank one 섭동성에 관하여 공부한다. 첫째, 작용소들의 Helton class의 여러 성질들에 관하여 공부한다. 특히, single valued extension property를 가지는 작용소의 Helton class에 대하여 공부한다. Helton class는 nilpotent 성질, finite ascent property, power property등을 보전한다는 것을 보인다. 또한 Helton class의 관계 하에서 local spectra 사이의 관련성을 연구한다. 마지막으로 성질 (β) 가 Helton class와 Helton class의 nilpotent perturbation 하에서 보전된다는 것을 증명한다. 둘째, unilateral shift의 rank one perturbation의 여러 성질들에 관하여 공부한다. 특히, D가 0을 포함하는 어떤 영역일 때, 이 작용소는 O(D,H)상에서 일대일 성질을 만족함을 보인다. 또한 이 작용소의 고유값에 대한 필요충분조건을 제시한다. 마지막으로 unilateral shift의 rank one perturbation이 hyponormal이 되는 조건과 이 작용소의 commutant의 여러 성질에 대하여 연구한다.
